GoogleDodgy experience using REA Ed Dempsey... I rented an apartment in Rathfarnham managed by REA Ed Dempsey for a year. No issues ever - great neighbours, kept the place in good condition, always paid rent on time etc etc One day the REA Ed Dempsey agent emailed us a months notice to move out as "the landlords son is returning from abroad and needs to move in" (I bet you can see where this is going) The sad day came when we moved out and handed back the keys to the same agent. 20 minutes later she put it up on Daft for 11% higher rent... We notified the Residential Tenancies Board and at the tribunal got to meet the big man himself- Ed Dempsey! Mr Ed gave a stirring speech about how it wasn't really such a big deal and that in his opinion the landlord, PJ Claffey, was a great fella. However it didn't count for much, he had been caught rotten and got hit with a big fine. If they had just told us they wanted to increase the rent we would have accepted it, but then REA Ed Dempsey wouldn't have been able to charge the landlord over €1500 for finding new tenants (as per the tribunal). All and all I would not recommend REA Ed Dempsey to a friend.

FacebookThe most unprofessional, incompetent, ignorant person I ever spoke to. Last July we found a lovely apartment advertised by Ed Dempsey. Price was 225k perfectly fit to our budget, but I rang his office and offered 210k and asked for a viewing. Assistant rang me back with a Saturday morning appointment. We were there in time, but he wasn't. Later rang me and said he's gonna late a bit because traffic issues. We were sitting there for an hour when he rang me and said he finally arrived to Ratfarnham...but our appointment was in Bray. Then he said he will rearrange this viewing, cannot coming down to Bray (obviously never wanted to come), but the price of the apartment is 225k now, because he has an offer for that. (It was one day after they accepted 210 offer) He asked me if I can pay that? I said I want to see first what I'm bidding for. He refused any other viewing after this. When I rang him after, saying I willing to pay 225k, want to see the apartment, he said they have an offer 230 now, and this gone up to 235 this way. Never shown us the place. After a long wait we decided to look somewhere else. In October we went to Sherry Fitzgerald and met Darren O'Neill and he arranged a viewing on they property for next afternoon, and looked after us very well throughout the whole process. Even when we had to change the bank at halfway. THIS is customer service. Ed Dempsey's customer skills are way under (if they are exist at all). The funny thing is, we are living in our lovely apartment for 8 months, and the one we meant to buy from Ed Dempsey is still up for sale. Do not ever think about any business with him folks!
