Stressful and annoying

As a whole I found my tenancy with DJ Alexander to be frustrating and stressful. I have rented with them since 2019 and moved out at the start of this month,DJs took ages to respond to any maintenance requests leaving us with a water damaged flat for 6 months and only responded when I threatened to withhold rent and organising contractors to attend was worse than herding cats. The only thing that has stopped them from getting 1 star is Amy Vass from the checkouts team. Once we handed in our notice Amy was quick and efficient at answering any and all questions we had and understood the points I raised when I challenged charges being made to me and as a result we were able to come to agreeable terms. I strongly advise the rest of DJs take note of how Amy works and learns from her as it seems she is about the only one who actually cares in that building.As a whole would not recommend people rent from DJs and anyone that is checking out request to deal with Amy as she is fantastic.

I just rented a house in Glasgow via Dj Alexander. Caroline met us at the viewing she was amazing made everything easy. She replied to every question even when it was a weekend end. Refrening and moving process was all done smoothly and promptly. Even when hading over the keys Caroline met us at the property and made sure everything was OK before she left. Robyn and her fantastic customer service, going over and beyond to get me my tenancy

I can't say enough good things about Robyn! From the very first moment, she made the whole process of securing my Edinburgh flat absolutely seamless. I was a bit anxious about finding the perfect place, but Robyn went above and beyond to make it happen. She truly listened to what I wanted and somehow managed to get me into the flat I had my heart set on, something I wasn’t even sure was possible.What really stood out was how Robyn treated me like a friend rather than just another client. She was always available to answer my questions, no matter how small, and she handled everything with such care and attention to detail. Avoid this letting agent at all costs

It’s disappointing that to write this review I have had to give them a star at all!DJ Alexander have to be the worst letting agency in Scotland and their checkout team in particular, the most unprofessional and least competent by a country mile.Mine has been a disgraceful and genuinely shocking end of tenancy experience. I am (was) a landlord of a single properly. It has just been vacated and has been left in an appalling state by the tenants. Absolutely filthy with an appallingly neglected, overgrown & rubbish strewn private garden area, and a whole spectrum of damage to the interior fabric of the flat, including through unapproved installations by the tenant (some of which they’ve just left in place presumably to try and disguise the damage to plasterwork and tiling if removed).I can only assume that DJ Alexander’s property inspector didn’t actually attend the flat in person for the check out inspection and / or paid zero heed to the terms of the PRA and the schedule of condition in so doing. This team is quite genuinely dangerously incompetent, such is the level of complete oblivion with which they have approached their obligations at tenancy end.If you are a landlord be aware that this letting agency does nothing to actually earn their fees - they are unconcerned with ensuring that a tenant abides by the PRA terms and as for upholding the value in, and purpose of, forking out for a record of condition at tenancy outset - forget it. I did., but DJ Alexander haven’t actually bothered to measure the checkout condition of my fiat against it. As can be said about every aspect of my relationship with this shower, every penny paid to them has been money for absolutely nothing.Oh, and they’ll pass you all round the houses too when you phone, and refuse to give you access to your own keys too. Heaven forbid they should actually offer meaningful service.I cannot stress this enough - avoid, avoid, avoid this letting agent at all costs. Unhelpful, unprofessional and incompetent, they are nothing but a deeply unpleasant stain on the Scottish property sector.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but I'm left with no choice in the case of DJ Alexander

TLDR; do not maintain rental properties, incapable of holding a simple file for the property they are supposed to be 'managing', let out properties in disgusting conditions. My partner had the pleasure of finding a used condom upon entering the flat for the first time.DJ Alexander have proved to be the most incompetent letting company in the UK over the past 2 and a half years. As a tenant for a flat DJ Alexander were 'managing' here is what you can expect:1. DJ Alexander noted multiple issues inspecting the flat prior to it being let out to us. 2 and a half years of complaints later and these issues persist along with the side effects of them not being fixed. This has ended up costing severe detriment to the quality of life for tenants and a cost to the landlord to fix issues which have been left to fester and grow. Each yearly inspection they did their 'tick box' exercise of looking around and logging exactly the same unresolved issue as the year before saying 'they'll get someone to look into it'. Nothing ever get's fixed.2. Upon entering the flat we, as tenants, diligently went through the flat noting all issues and logging in the DJ Alexander maintenance portal. All issues were closed down by DJ Alexander without ever being addressed. Disgraceful. The time we have taken to log issues for our landlord has been disregarded.3. We rented a property that for extended periods had no use of the en-suite shower, no hot water, gas leak, corroded gas flue, smell of raw sewerage in the upstairs bathroom and master bedroom, broken electrics in the whole living area, severe leak from upstairs bathroom pouring water down into boiler room. All without any reduction in rent from DJ Alexander. 4. They refused to return our deposit despite us enduring the above, and cleaning meticulously throughout. The property was left in a far cleaner condition than when we moved in. Yet we were still charged. We paid to have all soft furnishings professionally cleaned prior to moving out. The incompetent chap who dealt with our Checkout was made aware of this, however still instructed the same cleaning to be done again charged out of our deposit.Be wary as this company seems to have miraculously improved their trustpilot score. Are a number of legitimate reviews being removed? As I have said above we have photographic documentation to prove the catastrophic failings of DJ Alexander and hope those who read this review have not yet committed themselves into a contract with this despicable company.

The staff who all helped me with my rental of a property were great,Oliver and Patrick who were responsible for showing me the apartment and helping with the procedures.I particularly want to mention Erin French, based at the Edinburgh office. Chose any other company!

I decided to rent my flat out whilst travelling and chose DJs as they were a big name and after meeting one of the sales agents, I thought they seemed great. I honestly had an awful experience with them - over the 6 weeks my flat was marketed, I had to speak and deal with over 7 different people. The flat fell through over 4 times and communication was poor throughout this time. They continually took my flat off the market before a deposit had been paid which led to delays in renting. I switched to another company as a result who found me great tenants within the week. Overall they cost me more than £2000 in lost rent money. Edinburgh has a great market and my flat is a nice 2 bed. There was no apology and they also refused to share their marketing pictures with the new company which caused further delays. I would strongly advise anyone considering using them, not to.

I had occasion to contact several staff at both Byres road in Glasgow and the John Cotton Centre in Edinburgh by phone and email regarding a rental property and found them uniformly friendly and very helpful. Very positive experience with the agency owing to the property manager - Johan

I was exceptionally satisfied with the service provided by DJ Alexander. I was particularly impressed with the support and communication with Johan - the end of tenancy property manager. Very professional, efficient and dedicated. As I had not a very great experience with other agencies in the past, before I started the process of vacating the premises, I was very sceptical, because I did not believe that an agency could be fair and refund the whole deposit for a perfectly cleaned flat left in perfect condition. Fortunately, I was very positively surprised. I was treated very fairly. The moving-out process managed by Johan was smooth and well-organized, and any concerns have been promptly addressed. Outstanding customer service

I am a current DJ Alexander tenant and am leaving the property due to health issues and not any issue with flat . I have been worrying about the checkout procedure and the things that I need to sort and put in place to end the tenancy . So I called the office today to discuss the issue and was put through to Gemma in the Edinburgh office . I explained the situation as best I could and Gemma was brilliant she listened to my concerns , put my mind at ease and explained in detail what I could do to remedy the situation. I phoned close to closing time and even so there was no rush and she took the time to help me . I now feel much happier after the call and know exactly what I need to do . Gemma is truly a credit to DJ Alexander .

The Edinburgh sales team were wonderful - my flat was promptly on the market and sold within a week! Stephen was my main contact. I found him professional and pleasant - nothing was ever an issue. He kept me updated throughout and made it such an easy process. He really went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and provided a helpful sounding board at each stage. James managed the viewings. As soon as the advert went live viewings started being booked in. I was really impressed by the pace he had people in and looking around. Finally Sara provided the marketing pack. It was polished and really did show the property in the best possible way. I had one small piece of feedback and she turned it around the same day to get the advert online.
