I would not touch this company if my…

I would not touch this company if my life depended on it. Due to our home been flooded we rented a flat in Buchlyvie Gardens Bishopbriggs for 6 months. Paid a £1380 deposit. The flat was in reasonable and clean condition but very dated. We had issues we fixed ourselves after being told by agent to try options. We thoroughly steam cleaned property before vacating on 25 July. We replaced doormats, cleaned drains with solution and left the flat in better condition than received. DJ Alexander branch Edinburgh inspected it and said very light cleaning was required e.g. some dust on a bedroom blind and cooker hood. The cooker hood was so old we were frightened it would break on taking it apart. After being assured by DJ Alexander Edinburgh that my deposit would be returned in full as the landlord could not be located within the 30 day timeframe. I received an email on 6 September to say they have now retained 145 pounds, despite new tenants moving in as soon as we moved out. We have only just received the remainder of our deposit 9 weeks after leaving flat and now going through a process for the disputed amount. They should be ashamed of themselves treating tenants they way they do, they don't even have the decency to phone you, all done by email.

I am not one for posting negative reviews, however due to the terrible renting experience through DJ Alexander Letting agent, Aberdeen, I feel the need to warn other potential renters as this can ruin your tenancy. Some of the experiences below: 1. Keys handed at later time than promised causing delivery driver delays and extension 2. Gas heaters were still not working correctly one month after reporting, and moving in, this cannot be legal. 3. 6 months to perform various repairs which we were informed, would take one month only. This resulted in taking a lot of time off to be present at the property. 4. Inventory items were not not removed as promised on date/time promised. 5. Wasting time and days out, waiting for contractors to sometimes turn up. This applies to DJA staff also who on a couple of occasions short minute cancelled the 3 month flat inspections. 6. Allowing people to enter flat with no notification to us. 7. My daughter was not treated nicely, experiencing ignored phone calls and emails by office, I suspect because of her young age 21. Excuse was always out of office. 8.During the move in, washing machine was not working, pantry roof was leaking water, toilet door was broken, fireplace badly marked with writing, cracked tiles in toilet, tap broken in kitchen, shed roof leaking/damaged 9.Cleaners had to return to attempt to clean the cooker, black scorch marks could not be removed and still remain. The fan was also very dirty at move in. They had the cheek to tell us we had not cleaned the oven. 10. The 'end of tenancy report', DJA stating 'customers cost' for slight bit of dust on skirting, piece of small paper on floor and similar. We entiterly cleaned the property but some very small dust issues existing. They want to charge their own cleaning costs with no quote or cost agreed by us. They are not allowing our own cleaners to enter following rental termination. This is just a ticket to get money. On looking at the hierachy of the people in the office, I can clearly see from Linked-in that the Aberdeen Property manager and senior property manager have little, or zero, previous property estate experience. This has shown strongly thus the bad incompetence during the last year. Really beyond me how you can walk directly into a managrrs position with no experience. Please beware that you may also suffer a similar experience to what we have, there is nothing worse than a bad tenancy experience. These agencies are meant to be our help, assist us where needed, DJ Alexander were definitely no good at this towards us, the staff we dealt with also need serious customer service training. Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, they have been hell!

I recently had the pleasure of dealing with DJ Alexander Letting Agents, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. In particular, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Lynsey Burr and Giulia Ceccarelli, who went above and beyond to help me out of a tight spot.On the day of my move, I accidentally left my keys in a bag, which was loaded onto the moving van headed for Edinburgh. To make matters worse, my train was scheduled to reach Edinburgh late at night, which meant I would be stranded outside my new home without a way to get in.In my panic, I reached out to DJ Alexander and was fortunate enough to speak to Lynsey and Giulia. Our Property Manager Asif went above and beyond with our request to keep a dog in our flat. When we originally asked back in September of 2022, the landlord refused our request. However, deciding to be cheeky, we thought we would ask again a year later in August 2023. To our surprise, Asif went beyond what we ever had expected. He corresponded back and forth with the landlord over a period of a week and managed to convince them to allow us to keep a dog in our flat. I really would recommend Asif to anybody thinking of renting from DJ Alexander. Asif has given my partner and I the opportunity to welcome a dog into our lives - which we never thought would be possible as tenants. Illegal Rent Increases

1st interaction with this company was them threatening me to pay for damage done by someone else to a shared front door. 2nd interaction was them telling me work will be getting done on my apartment. Starting date they gave me was wrong, the finishing date was wrong and even the work being done turned out to be wrong. Didn't want to take any responsibility when this impacted me. 3rd interaction with this company was them illegally increasing my rent twice inside 12 months. They denied this was illegal and then ignored my emails until I phoned their head office and demanded a response. Conveniently it was only after I had moved out and they had increased the price again for the next tenant they then admitted they had acted illegally and that it shouldn't of happened. They'll mess you around, ignore you and even break the law. Avoid.

I called up to ask a request - to find out if someone could help me with finding various legal documents for a flat I bought through Grants Property Management 7 years ago. Grants changed their name to Sandstone before beingvtaken over by DJ Alexander in 2024. I thought I was probably asking for the impossible request however Leandra Brown from the Edinburgh office went the extra mile for me. I was so impressed by her attitude. Nothing was too much or too difficult. She was super efficient on the phone and told me that she would love to help track down the info I needed. She said it might take a while but she would get onto it straight away. Anyway, much to my surprise she emailed me back within the hour to tell me she had found everything I asked her for. I was so grateful to Leandra. I hope she gets to read this because I had wanted to write to the boss of D J Alexander to let them know how good the service I had received was. Amazing Dedication By Paul and His Team

My partner and I recently moved to the UK and enlisted the assistance of DJ Alexander to find the perfect home for us. We met and had the privilege of working with Paul who's kindness, dedication, and professionalism was a massive support to us in such a turbulent time of change. Paul was extremely knowledgeable about the areas and the properties within his portfolio, always answering every question we could have before we could even ask it. The process was smooth, well explained, and streamlined in regards to the paperwork side of things, and the use of Goodlord was an innovative and intelligent touch to the process.
