I came across the wonderful team at Martin & Co, whilst looking for a flat for my daughter to rent in York. Everyone was extremely helpful from the start and what was most impressive was how well everyone worked together as a team to ensure that the process ran smoothly. I wanted to take a moment to thank Angela and Harry at Martin & Co for their outstanding service. Angela looked after our property while we rented it out, and she was absolutely brilliant. She went above and beyond to organise tradespeople whenever anything needed attention, and made sure that everything was handled promptly and to a high standard. She also ensured our tenants were well looked after, which gave us real peace of mind. When it came time to sell the property, Harry managed the sale, and everything went perfectly smoothly from start to finish. I honestly can’t thank them both enough. A Wonderful Experience Finding Our New Home!

I recently returned to York after a long time away and was looking for a home to stay in for a year. Thanks to the York branch of Martin & Co. and their team, I’m very happy to have found a place that feels both safe and enjoyable. Although I was already familiar with the city, as a foreigner who needed to secure housing quickly I did feel some pressure at first. But with their help, I was able to find a home without any major difficulties, and I believe the remaining steps towards finalising the contract will also go smoothly. Special thanks to Harry, who guided me through the viewing, and to Jo, who handled communications and scheduling. Both were consistently detailed, kind and supportive throughout the process. Sent harassing emails to entire flat building during tenancy; expecting tenants to maintain the building in a way that is clearly the landlords responsibility. Would also try and sell us 3rd party insurance coverage to cover "damage" that falls under wear-and-tear, so the cost would not fall onto them. When we first moved in there was a clear fire hazard (exposed wires hanging from the ceiling with running electric), that after requesting maintenance for, was told it was a known issue for months. Oven upon move in was essentially broken, with the top heating elements bent at a 90 degree angle into the oven, and it produced a bad smell. Hob on top was rusting off. Was told that because it was "technically working" they didnt have to replace it. They finally replaced it after 6 months, but only when we emailed them saying they were infringing on our rights as tenants. Bad at communication for viewings when we were moving out. Also, the woman I turned my keys into on the last day was EXTREMELY rude, mocking me, and overall completely condescending and snarky for no reason when there was a small issue of keys not matching their inventory. The keys issue was resolved quickly as it was my housemate who had misplaced a key, but Martin and co were absolutely no help in resolving it and were horrible to deal with. Landlords are evil.

Moved into our new property through martin and co in August. Since then, we’ve had nothing but issues with the current property and they don’t seem to care. Had to constantly chase them about ongoing damp which still hasn't been resolved. The property was filthy when we moved in, no clean done between tenants, no maintenance of white goods as washing machine had mould growing throughout. Windows were painted shut. All of the issues i have raised have been ignored by both martin and co and the landlord. Called today about an emergency leak through the ceiling into our dining room. Told they are closing in a couple of minutes and will get someone out tomorrow. They have been no help at any stage since moving in, typical letting agency taking a fee from the landlord but not actually managing anything other than your rent.
