Excellent service, thank you! We had a challenging experience putting our property on the market elsewhere but the moment Whitegates stepped in to become our agents we knew they were the perfect choice. Highly reccomend! Nicola and the team are wonderful - so friendly, professional and made the process of selling our home so easy (and fast!), they couldn’t do enough for us and answered every query me or the buyer had. They kept in touch through the whole process and made the sale go off without a hitch! We used Whitegates to sell my mothers house. Paige was our main contact and kept us updated on viewings etc. We had a lot of viewings and someone from Whitegates always showed the prospective buyers around, which was very useful, as I live 45 minutes away. Lorraine was also very helpful as I did meet up with her on one of the viewings. She made good suggestions of things we could do/ remove to make the house have a better flow and be more appealing to viewers.

Sensitive and personalised service

Whitegates sold the property of my elderly aunt (with me acting as Power of Attorney). This meant for some complicated communications during the whole process, but we found them to by sympathetic, attentive and caring. Not easy to achieve in a fast-paced business. Part of Whitegates' appeal is the personalised approach. We mostly communicated with Lucy, who was just super about returning calls, emails and generally responding to our queries. I'd definitely recommend Whitegates if you're looking for a hands-on, more bespoke estate agents.

Seller pulls out after survey, Whitegates re list at £10k more than we had agreed.

After a lot of back and forward negotiation with the seller through Whitegates we agreed a price. I had the survey done and there were some issues flagged. I flagged these to Whitegates and the seller for feedback from the seller and to work on a solution to move forward. The Seller cancelled the sale and put the property back on the market at £10k above our agreed price, £5k above the original listed price. I can’t believe an agent, Whitegates, would support this type of behaviour which they obviously do to re list the property. Terrible behaviour and the only person out of pocket is me, the prospective buyer. Also they posted this with a clause that you had to pay an agent £996 for the sale to be agreed. They would supply searches for this fee, which no solicitor other than their own will accept. It’s an absolute Scam.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We do understand how frustrating and disappointing it is when a purchase does not proceed, particularly after you have incurred costs. As the agent, we act strictly under the seller’s instructions and do not make decisions on whether a property is withdrawn, re-listed, or repriced. While we always aim to help both parties reach a mutually acceptable outcome, ultimately these decisions sit with the seller and we are required to follow their direction as the appointed agent. With regard to the reservation fee you have referenced, this relates to our optional Committed Buyer service. This is a transparent, clearly explained service designed to reduce fall-throughs and gain commitment from both buyer and seller. You opted not to pay this at the start, giving the seller the option to withdraw from you later down the line. We do appreciate your frustration with the outcome and the time and cost involved. We would also note that you have continued to view other properties with us, and we remain more than happy to assist you in finding a suitable home. If you would like to discuss any of this further, we would welcome a direct conversation.

We had an incredibly challenging time buying our dream home due to the nature of the seller and complexity within the transaction. Despite Whitegates representing the seller, they were still very helpful to us. Lucy in particular was caring and supportive and explained things well. She listened to us and our needs while working hard with the vender to mediate our situation. I'm sure this was a challenging sale for them and I think they did well to manage the situation. Would recommend.

Woolton house sale

Very grateful to have completed on the sale of my house with Whitegates. I found the team very responsive, and they managed viewings with efficiency. They are courteous and professional. I have dropped a star here only because of some dissatisfaction regarding price drops as the process went on, about which I was a little uncomfortable. It also became clear that 'offers over' does not mean what it says on plain reading, and it is seen by buyers as just a figure to be negotiated down, not as a minimum the seller will not go beyond. It is therefore meaningless and I feel it is misleading for sellers. I would recommend Whitegates to others.

Company charge £996 to secure property before the offer goes in I’ve never heard of any estate agent asking for money like this and if you pull out you lose it but if vender pulls out you don’t !! What a business practice would never use this company shocking behaviour .they say includes searches only if you use there solicitors

Hi Nicola, thank you for your feedback, I just want to clarify some points. The committed buyer service is a service some of our vendors opt for, and as always, we act under our vendors instructions. The payment is only made once an offer has been accepted and this is clearly stated within all marketing and communication around the offer. This allows you to ensure the price you offer includes the £996. If the seller pulls out, you are refunded the full £996. In terms of the searches, these are sent to you which you can provide to any solicitor, there is no stipulation to use a solicitor we recommend. For sellers opting for this service, we have seen a reduction in sales falling through with only serious buyers prepared to commit, and we have seen sales going through faster as searches are already in place.
