PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you are a tenant…

PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you are a tenant looking to rent with them.From the beginning they were underhanded and sneaky, trying to push you to buy insurance and force you onto their no deposit scheme and they make you feel like you have no choice and will lose out if you don’t agree.It’s shameful really and what they’re doing is ILLEGAL agencies are NOT allowed to pressure or force you onto any schemes or pay any extra fees. But of course they EARN COMMISSION from selling you insurance and the fees from the no deposit option go to them NOT the landlords. PLEASE do research on these schemes especially if you’re being pressured into one as unless you really can’t afford a standard deposit it’s a big SCAM and a literal waste of money.It’s shocking really that even senior staff including Charlotte the lettings manager will ACTIVELY LIE and pressure you as well. These guys don’t care about tenants only about fleecing you for as much money as possible.Someone should investigate them because these guys are clearly void of morals and desperate for a bit of extra cash and will apparently bend the law to get it.

Awful communication.

The communication from start to finish was appalling. I was not made aware when my offer was accepted that the company accepting my offer, did not physically own the property and that it would be very hard to get a mortgage, due to the term of ownership. I then applied for mortgages and learnt this when I had already gone through the motions. I had to endure three mortgage applications due to not being told first hand that Springmove did not physically own the property at point of offer acceptance. If this had been communicated early doors by Romans, I truly believe the whole purchase would have been less stressful and quicker.I ended up having to email the seller direct to also push things forward as no one at Romans seemed to want to pull their finger out and told myself that ‘i was too emotional’- great Customer service there. I would not recommend this estate agent to anyone.

Unprofessional company

I have been asked for a reference which I was more than happy to provide in a timely manner but have literally been hounded by your company as if a close family member has died or there is a massive emergency. I received an email at 10pm on 25th May, 8.30am on 26th May (NOTE - NOT DURING WORKING HOURS).This was followed up by a phonecall at 8.27am, 8.58am (3 calls) and finally 10.05am on 26th May (while I am working and in meetings and had to answer to stop the incessant hounding).All chasing for a reference for the 22nd July 2023 which is 8 weeks away.This is an unacceptable way for your company to conduct reference requests and I seriously suggest you allow a reasonable amount of time before literally hounding people with non urgent requests. This is a completely unprofessional way to conduct a business.

Romans Camberley - terribleArranged 4 viewings for Saturday morning (I live 60 miles away from the properties and communicated this when arranging). Speak to Romans Friday morning to confirm. Travel 60 miles Saturday morning to attend the viewings. Get a call 30 mins before to inform you that 3/4 properties are no longer available and 1 cannot be viewed due to unforeseen circumstances.Less offended by the 1 unforeseen (ill tenant, these things happen) more about the 3 other properties that mysteriously were no longer available within 24 hours - Romans could have told me this at any point on Friday. Avoid them if possible. I will steer clear of any property marketed by them. Judging by some of the other reviews on here, seems like a near miss.

Deposit Loot- Holding for Ransom

We rented an apartment in RG1 8AQ from 30-Nov 21 to 31-Mar 23. We paid Romans rent for 16 months and when returning the deposit they deducted 2 days of rent for 30-31 Mar'23, which is cheating and loot. I had a lengthy telephonic discussion with my relationship manager, trying to convince him that we are due to pay only one day's rent i.e. 30-Nov 21. Assume we had rented the property from 01-Dec 21 then we wouldn't be due any rent as we paid 16 months of rent. So clearly we were due for only one day's rent, for 30-Nov 21. But Romans won't understand and insisted we pay two days rent, that too for two days in March 23 when the rent was higher than the rent at which we started in Nov 21. If they were a honest company they should have taken one day's rent at the beginning of our stay and then say that now on your rent will be month on month from 01-Dec 21. It's a clear case of loot.

Deposit Extortion

I have been in rentals my entire working life & with the exception of CarillionAmey who managed MOD married quarters, I have never had such poor responses to defects or been so ripped off when moving out of a property. Costing me well over £600 (incidental £50 more than I sold my car for) for a house we rented for just 15 months and left in better material condition than we found it. Sorry tell a lye, with the exception of one screw I put in to hold a mirror and several crumbs found in the seal of the fridge door... on second thoughts maybe they had a point! Examples of the claim were £25 for missing flowers - we moved out in winter, they are perennial! Charging for a cleaning company to fully clean the house, again! And of course at a higher price than the cleaning firm we used. This was all challenged and put to the so say impartial HF Resolution Ltd. However this is all done via the estate agent who deliberately did not submit evidence provided. My wows are eclipsed by colleagues and friends who have had the same treatment when renting through Romans. They have been charged sums over £2000 on moving out of a property. In short I would rather be homeless than rent through this lot again!

Very disrespectful and unprofessional

In my experience Buying from this company is completely different than renting from then . We would personally not recommend renting with Roman’s. They pride themselves on being professional and very organised . Our experience is very different. We have been very accommodating, allowing Estate agents into the flat at anytime/day so they can show potential buyers/renters around. Estate agents allowed several people to walk around our home on their own, and no one was asked to remove their shoes, even on very wet days. We felt they were very disrespectful. A sticky mark was left on carpet , possibly from someone’s shoe. The branch manager (Windsor) apologised for this , however our property manager was completely dismissive of our concerns, and not helpful at all. We found the company to be very disjointed. They could not even arrive for the check out at correct time sending us an email with 10.00 and having it in their diary for 12. The branch apologised stating it is because the company that arrange these bookings are oversea’s! Laughable really! Just found the company very unprofessional and would not wish to use them again in the future!
