Andrew Aldworth - A credit to Stirling Ackroyd

Andrew Aldworth contacted me out of the blue a few weeks ago. Normally cold callers get short shrift, however Andrew was not pushy, simply warm and eloquent. He sparked my interest in how the Landlord Services on offer differed from those I currently receive and how the pricing structure works. I mentioned my properties were fully occupied at that time but one due for renewal April 2023. Andrew remembered this and called today to see if I wanted to explore options. I am very impressed. Andrew not only made a note to call but also the detail of our last discussion and my situation. It is very rare to encounter such professionalism, it gives me every confidence that I will be happy to do business with Stirling Ackroyd in future. Like many I am quick to take action on a complaint, but not often enough do I formally give praise, on this occasion it is richly deserved - hence this review.

Flat letting. Amazing service

I used Stirling Ackroyd to lease my grandfathers flat since he has been moved permanently to a care home. They are not a traditional local agent so I was pleasantly surprised when they dealt with any issues quickly and effectively. I dealt with Alex to get this initially booked in who was charming and very helpful for the whole process. I then mainly dealt with Matt from lettings who was absolutely brilliant. He found me a suitable tenant in record time, and was pleasant and easy to talk with - he answered my questions at any time of the day and was incredibly helpful when I was stuck on how to do something. Ant at the byfleet office was also great as he facilitated the viewing, which went so well they decided to go head with the flat. Would highly recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I understand that humans can make mistakes, however when i approached them with my complaint they dismissed it without even acknowledge any points i had raised, as if they didn't care. It was extremely upsetting. They have passed me over to the CEDR and i will be taking the complaint to them. I hope something positive can come out of this rather negative experience.

Hugely impressed with the Stirling…

Hugely impressed with the Stirling Ackroyd team. We got a call minutes from SA (Alex) from making a request via Zoopla which was mighty impressive. We were keen on lettings and sale advice and both Chantelle and Jordan were very informative and patient on advising us on both fronts. They both clearly are very knowledgeable in their respective areas. They made us feel very valued and were more than happy to answer the numerous questions we had during their visit at the property. After the valuation they both followed with an email with their respective valuations and i have found them both very communicative (but not pushy) since. To add icing on this fabulous service, Alex followed with a call to ensure we received a good service from the SA team. Highly recommended Estate Agents

Persistance and professionalism

I have received about four phone calls from Joel Gooden over the last month or so. Each phone call led me closer to making the decision to appoint Stirling Ackroyd to sell my property. I was inundated with similar calls from similar agencies but he seemed very knowledgeable about the housing market and more importantly, for me, he listened. We have now signed the contracts to begin the sale and we are very hopeful. If he hadn't made the first phone call to me and persisted (politely) we would probably be signing with someone else. Thank you Joel for your advise, persistence and professionalism.

One of the worst agency experience…

One of the worst agency experience ever! do not trust or get involved with these guys in the Staines office, they play with your time and don’t treat you with respect, ignore your calls, and never call back, that when you have placed an offer.We were told we don’t have an answer as the owner is not replying, we through something is fishy, my wife called back from another number after two days and she was told that we have just accepted the holding deposit on this apartment. Shame on such agents! Fully story below:We viewed a couple of apartments with Sterling on Tuesday evening at 6 PM. Next morning we emailed them our offer at 9:00 AM. Kept following up with them for half a day to get an answer we have not seen the offer as we have been very busy. After they saw the offer, they said they will talk to the owners and come back to us. They knew that we wanted to close this quickly and were evaluating this vs. another property which was our second preference.Whole of that day and even the next day, the associates kept ignoring our calls. I got a message back saying he would call me back soon, but that soon never happened as well.We were just trying to revise our offer but they never wanted to talk. We were told the owner is overseas and is not replying. The next day when we were told that the owner is not replying, we felt something is fishy and my wife decided to call them to ask about this property, she was told they have accepted the holding deposit on this flat.Clearly we were treated super badly. we would never recommend this office to anyone else. You have 2-3 other agencies just down the road, you are better off going there. At-least we can assure you would be treated with respect and you wont feel ignored.

They dident submit my invoices to my deposit so now I’m £1000 out of pocket I have been waiting 2 weeks for them to give me an update and NOTHING! It’s ME chasing them. The management change without telling you!! AVOID AT ALL COST !!!!!!!!05/03/24 - I logged a complaint last week and they said they will respond within 28 working days but I’m still out of pocket!! Terrible experience, avoid is possible…

Terrible experience with Stirling Ackroyd, particularly due to the poor management by our assigned agent, Dottie Wilson. Communication was consistently lacking, we had to chase her with multiple emails just to get basic responses, and even then, the replies were often vague or unhelpful. Throughout our tenancy, she offered little to no support, and never provided real solutions to the issues we raised. It always felt like she was acting entirely in the landlord’s interest, with no consideration for us as tenants. A very frustrating and disappointing experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this agency if possible.

We dealt with the Egham office where Mark. Ben and the team were brilliant. Quite frankly there was no comparison when selecting the estate agent we wanted to use compared to others in the area. After losing our mum, we were left with the incredibly difficult task of having to sell our family home. Stirling Ackroyd in Mitcham is the number 1 estate agents in the area. Previously had many dealings with goodfellows but thought I would give stirling ackroyd a go after Charles came round to value my property and I was so impressed with his manner and his knowledge of the market. I then stepped into office a week later and met Robbie who further explained what Stirling ackroyd can offer and also his market knowledge showed me that Charles and Robbie were the guys who should be selling my property. 2 weeks down the line I put my property online with them and they quickly sold it as promised. Their service and care was amazing !…will 1000% be recommending to friends and family. I also have other properties that I will selling through this branch. Since signing our tenancy agreement we have had NIGHTMARES with this scam company. Now been over 2 weeks and still no news when we will have our deposit back. Apparently Katy Harris has been trying to call the landlord but it’s table tennis, they keep missing eachother. In all my years at customer service and using a telephone I have never known a company incapable of contacting a landlord for feedback regarding releasing a deposit. Currently I’m sat on hold only for her colleague Amy to say she’s on a lengthy call so is unsure when she can put her through or even if I can get through. After waiting on hold for nearly 10 minutes Katy has managed to get a response from the landlord stating she will have answers at 4:30pm.. very close to the end of the day funny enough. She’s also requested that I do not chase her until after 5pm??? What a strange thing to request especially seeing as that’s when they will close for bank holiday. I’m sick to death of the pathetic excuse of an estate agency. Nothing but liars who get pleasure at messing people around, fobbing you off and failing to do their jobs time and time again.Stirling Ackroyd also ensured I would not need to conduct a professional clean as the property was so disgusting when we initially moved in. Confirmed by Becky - the lettings director and also Arran who was a Property Manager, even after having written confirmation of this agreement and providing this. Katy Harris still has to speak to the landlord to see whether she would charge us? I’m pretty sure if the landlord wants to go down this route even though it’s illegal considering we have a written agreement from 2 Stirling Ackroyd employees. They still said she can charge us? AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!! They will cause you nothing but stress and hold onto your money just simply because they are nothing but terrible people.AVOID AVOID AVOIDWon’t hold my breath on a resolution today or in the next week in fact.

Had such a great experience with Stirling ackroyd. Had the privilege of working with Joanna who made our experience in such a tough market worth while. Although we didn’t end up buying a property through Joanna (due to the marketplace being super super competitive) I wish we had as she is such an incredible agent. Really fought for us to get a property, gave us regular updates of new properties coming in! Always answered the phone or called back quickly (which is super important and can be rare in this market.. very friendly, honest and have given us such great advice throughout our process.. really thought about and cared for our needs which made such a stressful process much more bearable. If I ever sell or buy in the future Joanna will definitely be our first point of call! Joanna is definitely an asset to Stirling Ackroyd!! Thank you Joanna
