Best estate agents experience ever!

Jackson-Stops have recently sold our house for us and we downsized to a bungalow, also through them. They were so helpful every step of the way. We dealt with Rebecca, Chris and in the later stages Pip who helped us by chasing solicitors and ensuring the process worked as it should, after our solicitors closed their local office and enabling us to sign and have our contracts witnessed in their Reigate office. A fantastic team of people, highly recommended!

We sold our house through the Jackson-Stops, Bury St Edmunds office. We knew the staff there from the original purchase of the property and were so pleased with that experience that we chose them for the recent sale. The team in Bury St Edmunds were effective from day one. The marketing material was well thought out and very professional. The task of showing potential purchasers around the house, answering their questions and working with us to keep them well informed worked very well. As exchange and, ultimately, completion days came and went, the team shifted up a gear and it all happened in a blink of an eye. Working with Jackson-Stops was a pleasure, a 5-star experience. Buying a home can be a stressful experience, but Louise, Rebecca, and the entire team at Jackson-Stops made the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We have just purchased our first home, and prior to buying we were told things like “remember the estate agent works for the seller and not for you” so we didn’t have big hopes of a particularly great experience, but fortunately we had the complete opposite. We had previously tried to purchase with another agent and were massively let down, feeling quite agitated by our experience we then searched for another property, we found one with Jackson’s and requested to view, within 30 minutes Sandra called to book us in, she made a super last minute arrangement with David, who had agreed to show us the property that day, we arrived an expected a seriously pushy sales scenario but instead were left to have a look around and ask questions as we needed, not once was the suggestion of placing an offer mentioned, both myself and my fiancée were made to feel really comfortable and immediately got the impression that David was a really genuine guy, our second viewing was exactly the same, again we were left to our own devices, free to measure up for furniture and check loads of bits and bobs we had noted down. The whole process was all monitored and chased up by Stephanie, who we cannot thank enough, as first time buyers we were obviously not clued up on the different steps, and what was required from us and when, but not once did we feel we couldn’t ask questions, there wasn’t anything that was problematic for Stephanie, and we are so glad we’ve had her on side throughout. We would definitely use Jackson’s for buying and selling in the future, there would be absolutely no reason for us not to, for us, cost wouldn’t even sway our decision if we were to sell in the future, we are very happy. Thank you to everyone who’s put a massive amount of effort into our purchase along the way :)

Asked to view a property on Bures Road and was told I had to provide proof of funds before even being allowed a viewing. I understand proof of funds is needed at offer stage but demanding it just to view a house is unnecessary and comes across as rude and intrusive; the tone felt more like an interrogation. And for clarity, questioning an asking price is not the same as being unable to afford a property. In a previous transaction, we declined to overpay for a house we did not believe was worth its asking price, and it later sold for significantly less. That is a valuation judgement (a mistake by the same agent), not a funding issue.

Jackson-Stops, Cranbrook Branch recently sold my house. They were brilliant, helpful and great with communication which is rare these days. Rachel with whom I dealt with was lovely, so friendly and so patient with all the endless calls I made. They say selling your home is one of the most stressful things you can go through. Its no easy ride but I can only say that Jackson-Stops made it as easy and calm as it could be. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you live in Kent and you want to sell your house, they are your go to agent. Brilliant. Last time we bought a house was in 1999. How things have changed! Unfortunately we didn't have a great solicitor and he didn't keep us informed about what was happening or explain next steps etc to us. Stephanie gave all the help, support and advice needed. Happily do it again...

I met Toby Whittome, a Director at the Jackson Stops office in Lindfield, at a neighbour’s Christmas cocktail party. As my wife and I were pondering selling our house the following spring/summer, I spent quite a few minutes peppering Toby with a number of questions. I immediately liked his manner, patient, detailed, humorous and tolerant of me chewing up his time away from the office.We have now sold our house with Toby brokering the deal. Despite knowing that I was going to use him, we interviewed a number of other companies. None of them had the manners nor manner that I wanted in my partner for this deal. As a foreigner, I am fascinated about the strong opinions that homeowners or buyers have about property agents. The English system is far from simple and there are numerous opportunities to fail. Ours had the typical ebbs and flows but it certainly didn’t feel like it. Like anything you get what you pay for and I, possibly, didn’t pay enough so we got a steal. In fact, the process was seamless, lacked the gravitas of what a transaction of this size could have had and was just plain enjoyable…except for the moving of possessions part. I queried Toby robustly about his strategy and the process and ultimately deferred to him despite having worked in property in the past.I would strongly suggest you use Toby and his team. He may not tell you what you want to hear but he will tell you what he knows. If that is not what you want to hear or he sounds uncertain, that is the reality of the market, the process, the English system and he will still know more than you do. You are in good hands. I should know. Best of luck.
