Last year was my first time renting through this company, a flat in Palgrave Gardens, Marylebone. There were no check-in or check-out reports provided, yet they deducted over £3,300 from my deposit upon move-out without any proper evidence or justification. This year, when my friend rented another flat through the same agency, the exact same pattern happened again: despite arranging a professional end-of-tenancy clean and leaving the property in good condition with no damages, the agency still attempted to withhold around £1,100 from the deposit. It is shocking and unacceptable to see such behaviour repeated. Future tenants should be extremely cautious and document every detail before renting through this agency.

This is the absolute worst letting…

This is the absolute worst letting agent. I strongly recommend against using them. We rented an apartment remotely and when we showed up it was not the apartment that they had sent us the video for. The apartment they gave us was filthy, with old, damaged furniture. I had to write 5 letters just to get new bedframes, front door that opened properly, working shower head etc, etc. The lease ended almost one year ago and we do not have a return of our deposit. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AGENCY.

Got the number of Mr. Rupert Porpora from a trusted friend during July, 2023 which is a very busy time with students coming in from everywhere. He must’ve been in incredible demand because it took me a couple of weeks of persistently calling him before he replied over a text. I sent him my requirements over whatsapp (marylebone, 1 bed, higher floor, one of the premium buildings like Rossmore, Dorsey etc). He texted me after 3-4 days on a Thursday at 9 am with a beautiful 650 sq feet 1 bed on the 4th floor at Dorset house. I knew he wouldn’t have any trouble letting this flat so I acted fast, filled out an offer form and paid the holding deposit by 10 am! It was a pleasure working with such a professional agent in such a tricky market. As luck would have it, my offer was accepted the following Monday! Thank you Rupert. In a market, where tenants are getting cheated all around London, Newington’s reputation and professionalism are very refreshing. Other than Rupert, Max and Ria who helped me with all the legwork and paperwork are also a delight to work with. Highly highly recommend to go through them! They are honest, hardworking and most importantly not money oriented in a money crazed market! Kudos to the whole team!
