Dear Louise, thank you for your one star review. I am sure your son advised you, that the property he was residing in was managed by the Landlord and not ourselves. However the deposit was lodged in our Deposit Protection Service account. I understand that the delay was caused by the Landlord who was trying to make onerous charges against your sons deposit. Eventually the Landlord acccepted our advice and released the deposit in full. The delay was not caused by Greenaway Residential and your son would have been dealing with the Landlord and not ourselves as he was fully aware we were only engaged in a tenant find service not fully managed. Dear Mr Ramamurthy, thank you very much for taking the time to write your review, your feedback is appreciated. With this in mind, I have taken the time to investigate the matter fully. On the 27th June 2020 you paid an amount equivalent to one weeks’ rent to secure the property after terms were agreed with the Landlord. We confirmed these terms in writing to you on the 30th June 2020. It was explained to you in that we were not instructed to manage the property on an ongoing basis by the owner and our remit was to act as tenant introducers only and the Landlord would manage the property. You were notified your deposit would be held by them (and protected in their own Deposit Protection Service account) and that all of your rent payments would need to be paid to them. On the 20th July 2020 you moved into the property and were provided with the owners’ bank details along with their contact details. As part of our service for the Landlord you paid your first months’ rent to our agency along with the balance of your security deposit, both of which were paid to the owner less our costs. On the 4th August 2020 you wrote to us by email to advise that you needed to leave the property due to issues with your employment/VISA/COVID-19 and your employer had decided to send you back home. We advised the owner immediately and despite it not being within our remit we liaised between you both so that the situation was managed effectively. You then subsequently left the property on the 31st August 2020. Incidentally, after this date we were then surprised to hear that you were looking to rent another property in Crawley, we were approached by another Estate Agent who was seeking a reference about you. We contacted you to advise that your flat was still available and you could potentially move back in, but you declined, stating you wanted a property with a garden. After you left the property you contacted us on numerous occasions to request your deposit back and we reminded you (as you were informed initially at the start of the process) that your deposit was held by the Landlord and you would need to speak to them. We also provided you with their contact details again. For this reason, I am very surprised to read your review. After investigating the matter I am fully confident the team acted professionally and fairly at all times, however I feel your frustration has been unfairly focused at Greenaway Residential.
