GoogleI don't rate the business practice of this company. I arranged a viewing a week ago, an offer was taken to the seller, who accepted, so they cancelled my viewing, on the day, and probably others. Now I maybe have a different perspective on how the system works but surely the seller would be keen to get the best offer? Or are they being incorrectly swayed by the estate agent in order to get their sales concluded and their fees paid?

We understand that it is frustrating when you are not given the opportunity to view a property, however we must address any comments that could potentially harm the reputation of our business.
We explained on two separate occasions on Tuesday that the seller had instructed us to accept a formal offer to purchase his property. We also confirmed that prior to accepting the offer, he was made aware of all other interest in the property, including any viewings scheduled and the position of each viewer. We privately requested that you remove your review for this reason however we now have no option other than to respond publicly.
As you are unfamiliar with our ‘business practice’ and our system for selling and buying houses, it is worth noting that our reputation has been built on breaking through previous ceiling prices across West Lothian. Our culture embodies integrity, professionalism, and a relentless drive to exceed our sellers’ expectations. Speed of completion in order to get our fees paid, as you suggest, is simply not a consideration.

Very nice team to deal with. Yes, there may be cheaper options out there- but the old saying is correct- you get what you pay for. GoogleMy son and I were selling a property that we had inherited due to a bereavement.
Gillian and her team were amazing - advising, helping and guiding us through the whole process.
Our first point of contact (and contact throughout) was Mags who was an absolute star. Professional, but so down to earth, she kept us fully informed of every step of the process.
Particularly liked the clients' portal which showed dates/times of viewings (we weren't required to be there), feedback from potential buyers, any offers made, and, finally, the sale. We also received telephone calls and texts confirming all these details.
Despite a couple of hiccups along the way, our property was sold to our complete satisfaction.
We have no hesitation in recommending using Turpie & Co.

GoogleI wanted to potentially use Turpies to sell a residential 2 bedroom flat in Livingston. Along with 1 other local estate agent ( Remax ) i invited them to quote for my business. They would not disclose their charges over the phone and i felt they were were being very evasive in quoting me a price. At that point i told them to forget it.
However i thought i had perhaps been too hasty so I called again and spoke with the owner. She explained that they were not trying to con or cheat me ( her words ) it was simply how they worked. Everyone gets a different price depending on what they agreed to.
On that basis i met with them at my property and after half an hour they would still not give me a price. Their representative she needed time to work out everything and stressed again that they were not cheats but encouraged their potential clients to spend as much as possible as it made their sales brochures look much better.
She said she would email me a price.
That was Friday 12th of February.
As i had not heard anything by Wednesday 17th of February I called Simon at Remax.
It was such a joy to speak with him again and what particularly impressed me was that he new exactly who i was. He must have saved my name and number into his phone as he answered " Hello Colin you are speaking with Simon, how are you?"
I told him i wanted to proceed and he acted immediately. My property is live on the Remax site today Friday 19th.
I would conclude that anyone should be very wary of dealing with Turpie and had i read the comments here, i would not have called them. As the previous writer mentioned.I'm guessing they want £4000 from everyone or they are not interested.
However in my opinion you get a much more pleasant experience from Simon at Remax for significantly less.NegativeResponsiveness, Professionalism

GoogleWish we'd read the negative reviews here before signing with Turpie.
You must be aware of all their terms and conditions before signing a selling contract as we weren't provided with any copy contract at the time of signing (as I see others have noted). Turpie will pursue you for a full selling fee once you agree to an offer, whether it falls through or not, regardless of circumstances.
We felt they were more interested in just getting you to accept an offer rather than trying to maximise any amount for your house as once you agree to an offer their money is as good as banked and the contact just drops off.

GoogleI wish we had paid more attention to the other negative reviews and Turpie&Co.’s sneaky Terms of Business before signing up.
Turpie&Co. sent us an invoice for just under £4000 after the house did not sell.
We found that the staff and one of the directors (Gillian Greenwell) did not like to deal with matters in writing. We wish we insisted that all details of offers, dates and terms agreed etc. were confirmed in writing. The staff denied conversations and major instructions were ignored. We found that Turpie&Co. have a complete disregard for the Code of Practice for Property Agents.
Overall, unpleasant, arrogant and condescending staff who were difficult to get hold of once we signed up and were unwilling to rectify issues or report on progress.
Some other facts:
Turpie&Co. advertised our house for six weeks without our permission and after the house was taken off the market.
The staff did not forward us the offer on our house in timely manner and as required by law.
The staff did not list their fees upfront, as required the Code of Practice. I would advise all their potential sellers to be very careful what you sign with them.
We had a stressful and time consuming dealing with them for over six months. As the house still remains unsold, this was an expensive mistake that ruined our plans of moving.
Edit post Turpie&Co. response:
This is a review of our experience with Turpie&Co. and I believe it to be accurate and correct at the time of writing. The so-called resolution took three months of unpleasant dealings with them.
