Don’t put buyers first

As a first time buyer & as romain’s is the biggest estate agents in Yatley, I had high hopes of finding a property through them. However unfortunately this wasn’t my experience. They were hard to get hold of, didn’t return emails or calls, was impossible to schedule viewings with & just didn’t put the buyer first. This sent me to another local estate agent who I found a house with & brought in the local area.

I have one star as I cannot not give one to write a review. It is very bad agency, untrustworthy and no one from the property management answers the phone to help when you have bad time. They are unprofessional and they share your status with anyone with out your permission. I have a very bad experience and I don’t want any one else to experience what I went through.

AVOID THIS COMPANY - BLIND LEADING THE BLIND

Romans is like the blind leading the blind. It is impossible to get hold of anyone you want. When you try to get hold of them, the person on the other side of the phone will say, “I will get them to call you back”. When you hear this, you may as well put your phone away, because you aren’t getting a call back.Romans will only contact you when they want to, if it does not benefit them, they do not care.We have had roughly 4 new property managers in 6 months of staying there. All do not know what is required to manage a property. Unless the role ‘property manager’ stands for something different at Romans…Our current property manager is Alisha, but we may as well not have one as we haven’t heard from her in months and the only way we found out about our change in property managers was when we tried to contact the previous one.I could go on all day about the negative experiences we’ve had with Romans but I don’t want to waste my time. They’ve made the last 6 months under tenancy agreement with them miserable.AVOID this company at all costs.

AVOID AVOID SCAMMERS, DONT CARE FOR YOUR HEALTH

Absolutely avoid this place, after renting with them for nine months and having a huge issue with black mould and broken windows damp and leaking, they refused to fix this and came up with all sorts of excuses, the property manager would lie and do stuff without our consent, we pushed and pushed to get this sorted after finally getting them to admit mould was a building issue they said we could leave early due to it not going to be sorted in time of our tenancy this was agreed by the landlord. and now we have since then finally found a place they went back on what they said and we lost that flat not to mention without our consent they ended our tenancy early and past the date we would have needed to move into the new place.ROMANS IS A SCAM. the property managers take little interest in peoples health and do not look after tenants. We now have been put in a difficult position where we don't have a home because of them. it is disgusting. the company should be shut down.

Excellent service

I have been the landlord of a rental property in Swindon for a number of years and have always had excellent service, initially from Dewhurst which was then taken over by Romans. I am particularly grateful to Naomi Hamilton who only joined the company fairly recently. She liaised with the previous tenants over a tricky issue and was able to achieve a good outcome thereby avoiding a legal dispute. She then helped to organise maintenance work and a re-furb of the property extremely efficiently and she has always been a pleasure to deal with. She is definitely an excellent addition to the team at Romans.

Property Manager Appreciation

I am really impressed with the level of service and understanding of the property manager Jade at the Swindon office. I am a landlord and in my experience Jade has gone above and beyond to rectify issues in order to reduce the costs incurred as a landlord. She has personally been around to the property and has provide knowledge/instructions to the tenants, cleaned and has also taken away items in her car in order to take to the tip in her own time.

Shocking service- tenants beware!

Romans are one of the worst letting agents out there from a tenant perspective. They’re so unhelpful, never answer the phone until you end up complaining, and will ever so quickly take your money, but provide the worst service ever. My landlord has also personally told me how awful they are to use for landlords! The minute I can exit from my tenancy and find another property, the better!

Being a first time buyer can be a very daunting experience but Romans have made this process amazing! From my first viewing to receiving the keys they have been professional, efficient, helpful and prompt. All my emails and enquiries have been answered and any queries I had were immediately chased up. I could not have asked for a better Estate agents. Chloe and Lorraine (Move Manager) in particular have gone over and above their job role and assisted me in every way until the final stages of completion. Worst renting experience

I was renting with them 1 year. After finishing the contract, did the regular check out report and here started to get extra charges ( professional cleaning, even though in the check in report was stated that was not done one), I will say what was their comments, dust floor in one room, one radiator dusted, and in one room blinders were dusted, they charged me for this £60. Another thing that I want to mention is that the place I rented was very old maisonette, with lots scratches on the doors, bathroom, some built in wardrobes were not even closing properly, which again I had to mention this in the check in report, that said will be noted. And surprise at the end, was not taken all into consideration, I was charged for holes that existed on the doors, or because I have been connected to internet with Virgin Media and they put their small block inside.And the last thing when I have received the rest of the deposit ( after more than 3 weeks),another surprise, was not the amount agreed. Again I had to chase and find out that their system charged me for an extra week of rent, even though I had the proof that I signed and gave them keys an earlier date.So my advice for those people who are planning to rent with Romans, try to avoid as much as possible them, and if this is the last thing you have as an option, for your check in report, make sure you put every single nail on it otherwise you will be charged for them.Worst renting experience ever.

Very bad experience ....

I rented a flat in Swindon at 15 Periwinkle Court ,flat 15 from the Romans in June 2022 to the end of May 2023.I would like to point out that renting out the property was not a problem at all and everything went quite smoothly.The first problem started in November when after long term rains, the floor in one bedroom started to smell rotten and one walls was covered with mold.After calling the Romans ,manager Jade visited us and admitted there is a problem with the mold and assured us that everything will be sorted out by a specialist.A week later a man from a construction/insulation company sent by the Romans after checking the room suggested to my wife that it would be better for us to start looking at another propertybecause it would be dangerous especially for kids to inhale it.Since then we stopped using the bedroom.From November to the end of May nothing was repaired and additionally in January water started leaking into the ceiling..despite many emails and phone calls to Romans instead of helping with all issues we received rent increase by £100!!!!When our children started coughing every night and myself we decided to leave the property and the end of our contract.In May before we left:Smell of damp and mold everywhere.Rotten blinds and suitcases, leaking ceiling,our clothes in wardrobes covered in mold.Everything done in one year of our tenancy.Before we sent back the keys to the property we spent 8hours in the empty flat for all the cleaning.Now,the Romans demand from me £404 for the after tenancy cost which for me is a joke!The cost is for painting all the walls (all covered in mold ,new blinds covered in mold and rotten,and cleaning the whole carpet stink in damp and covered in mold.so,no thanks,I won't pay a penny even though I offered £150 and it was rejected. Instead I prefer to present my case in court for destroying my belongings and poisoning my family.I hope that for the new tenants somebody has properly done all the issues above as in the UK overpaint mold is illegal.
