I moved into my new room in Reading on 1st May 2026. The entire renting process was extremely smooth, quick and easy. Sam was very helpful and considerate throughout, and Ivan welcomed me warmly and provided all the necessary information about the 'use of the spaces'

GoogleStaying at 205, Caversham Road, Reading has been an amazing experience, unfortunately, due to the bedbugs infestation prior to me moving in, I had to suffer from physical pain and disturbed mentally because of the bites for 6 months. When infestation was first discovered, my request to Pillar to allow me move out from the proper has been politely rejected due to the “contract policy”. Thankfully, Pillar did provide some ineffective spray treatments and inadequate initial reimbursement fees for purchasing some sprays online which was helpful. And also, being such large property agent company, like Pillar, their department is working and learning hard to be responsive to do the reference check for my new stay which took them 3 weeks to get no reply especially after giving them more than 15 calls and emailed every day. Thank you, Pillar, for making what should have been a simple tenancy a truly unforgettable experience.

GoogleI have been staying with pillars properties in Caversham reading for an year now ,and I don't want to leave this room because I truly believe its the best house share experience I have ever had. I am moving out for my personal reasons. The Pillars team is incredibly helpful and always responds promptly to any issues in the house. Whenever we report a problem they addressed it immediately and resolve it within a day. Everything here is well-maintained and in great condition. The heating and oven all work perfectly. The house is also cleaned once in two weeks and the cleaners also clean the freeze freezer & oven ensuring a comfortable and tidy living environment. This efficiency and support have made my stay here exceptional. Specially appreciate the agent Sam from pillars for his prompt response. Thanks Ananya

On Jan 7th we signed our lease and were given the keys to our unit. Per Mickey's approval, we unloaded many plants that we transported from Florida. On that day we unloaded the plants in the backyard, inside, and 4 on the front patio, which consisted of 3 gorgeous desert rose potted plants and a pineapple plant. When we arrived on the morning of the 8th at 7:30am to meet our moving company delivery, we found our 3 potted desert rose plants gone. We both went to the office to let Mickey know that someone took our plants. We both asked her to send out a general email to other residents to see if someone may have seen them being removed. She said she couldn't do that as it might put up a red flag. As movers were moving things in, Mickey called my husband and said the landscapers threw them out and said it was her fault as she directed them to clean up the property for new renters.

GoogleIt’s no doubt the ratings of pillar properties are so low because I have had such a terrible experience. I would give it 0 stars if I could. As part of my contract clause, it said I could pay a fine to terminate my tenancy early and it was confirmed by email through one of their agents called Tom Champion upon moving in. When I notified them, they said they only do this for “extenuating circumstances”. I asked for further clarification where it says in the contract in case I missed it and why I was not told this before and they didn’t seem to answer my question directly. They seem to only care about themselves. On top of the horrendous state of kitchen, i would highly DISCOURAGE ANYONE SEEKING THIS AS THEIR AGENT! If there was a miscommunication, I am more than happy to listen and rethink my opinion but it seems as if they are very uncooperative. (I have edited this review)

GoogleI am not sure why the company has low stars when they have been doing excellent jobs in communicating and getting everything ready as I am experiencing moving into the property with them. My best guess is that some people just write to complain, but not many write to appreciate the company. I moved into Reading rather quickly, and Sam and Tom have been amazing in getting everything ready for me, still with the high standards and professionalism in making sure I have all the required paperwork, which shows that they don't just let anyone in without proper procedure. Their communication is top-notch, and they provided me with speedy service, in which they were able to help me get into the property within two days. I think that was incredible. Other than that, they also provided a virtual viewing that was given by Ivan, the staff on the ground, who is also ready to help the tenants with moving and staying. Furthermore, they are still on it even after I moved in and had some questions, so they are not just on it to get people in, but still provide good service to their tenants. The property is well-maintained and clean. When I asked the other tenants who have stayed in the same properties longer before me, they said they have also been pleased with the service and have no complaints. So I really recommend using the service from Pillar Properties, as they also have a lot of options for properties in Reading.

GoogleI had a very disappointing experience with this agency. I paid a deposit to secure a room, but due to valid reasons I had to cancel the booking. After that, the communication completely stopped. They didn’t bother to respond to my messages, nor did they take any responsibility for processing the refund. It became very clear that they are only behind the money, not customer service or professionalism. Despite reaching out multiple times, I received no update, no support, and no refund. I strongly suggest avoiding this agency if you’re looking for housing. There are far more reliable and transparent agents out there. My experience with this agency has been nothing but stressful and unprofessional.

Working with Pillar Properties and more specifically Ivan was such a reassuring experience! Ivan was very professional, listened to my concerns and what I needed in my property search. He was accommodating and flexible when I asked to view another room on the day and demonstrated excellent customer service. Ivan was knowledgeable about other tenants and the properties he was responsible for and it was evident that he is passionate about matching the individual to the right property, paying attention to detail. The admin team at Pillar Properties has also been incredibly quick and responsive during the vetting process. A very positive experience after being out of the renting scene for a couple of years so I'm very grateful to Ivan and Pillar Properties.

It was a pleasure to deal with Pillar Properties. I highly recommend this agent, and I would definitely use their service again if there is a need. Especially want to say thank you to Ivan Fernandes who was helping me all the time since day one. All the documents are always correct, all the viewings are always happening on time, and he wasn't late even once. I was lucky and my neighbors were amazing people, I never heard any noise from them, and we never argued. I'm glad I chose this agent, thank you very much for all your help and cooperation!

HORRIBLE!!! never rent from them again. they are not transparent and took so much of my money during the move out process. I have rented many places and truly never had a worse and expensive move out process as this. please do not rent from them unless you want to be lied to and scammed.

You pulled your sleeves and decided to go extra way to pick me up in your vehicle…Trust me, that first impression your moral support has given lots of confidence in me that I am in safe hand.The best thing about you was, you understood my basic need in first talk itself and took me to Battle Square location and closed the deal.I personally, thank you & Sam for getting me the perfect place, helping me with the shifting process and guiding me about everything in nearby place. You have done this engagement such a way that I no longer felt I am away from home. Your affectionate behavior, helpful guidance, and advice have made this shift a piece of cake for me. Wrote my review but it came down when I deleted my account! So I've re-instated my account just to say - brilliant experience so far from all the staff I've engaged with. Sam was speedy and helpful with viewings, and the check-in was smooth. Hayley is a star, on hand to answer all Qs, and completed all the admin seamlessly with quick response times. Ivan, Justin and Stuart are great - always polite and committed to our health and safety. They may come to fix one thing, but will stay to ensure everything else is right/fix anything else they spot. Very grateful to the Pillar team for excellent service so far. A very happy tenant with great peace of mind. Thanks to all the team.

I had an excellent experience with Pillar Properties! Sam was so helpful during the viewings and went out of his way to recommend other properties that I might be interested in. This resulted in me signing the contract for one the properties he recommended. During the whole renting process, Justin and Lyn were so efficient with organising the contract and other supporting documents that I was able to move in within three weeks of signing the contract. The whole team were so helpful with answering any queries and you could tell they were really invested in their tenants. I can't recommend Pillar Properties enough, especially if you're after a quick and easy renting process.

I was searching quite last minute for a place to rent in Reading. Sam Guze was very helpful and professional. He showed me some options on the day I arrived in Reading, and thanks to him, I could move into my place very fast. I appreciated how the tenants were screened before moving in, since this allowed us to live in a nice, quite place, surrounded by other hard working professionals.Any mainenance issues I reported were dealt with immediately thanks to Justin. My colleague who just moved to Reading is now renting from Pillar Properties too, because I recommended them, and I would rent from them again if work requires me to move to Reading again. Thank you.

I have lived in one of Pillar Properties rooms for 2.5 years. The rooms are modern and the staff were very prompt dealing with maintenance issues. Justin was especially friendly in my experience. I also met a lot of young people in the course of living there. Some friendlier than others. On the whole I would recommend renting from Pillar. However, it is important to remember that this is a business for them. Read your contract carefully as they will hold you accountable for everything. Straighten out any gray areas from the start I.e. what constitutes wear and tear and get them to put this in writing before signing/agreeing.No matter how good a tenant you are there is no leeway with them on anything!!! Fundamentally it boils down to money and that became increasingly obvious - particularly towards the end of the tenancy. Moving out was stressful. However, I respect their desire to ensure the properties are kept in a good condition.

It was my first time in the UK (and Reading) starting Jan 2019 and I was fortunate enough to have found Pillar properties. After just 3 or 4 viewings, I finalised a quality ensuite room that I was extremely happy with, thanks to Sam Guze from Pillar - he understood what I needed to a T and showed me rooms accordingly. For the next one and half years while my tenancy was being managed by them, I saw how professional, punctual and helpful they were. I especially want to call out Sam Guze who went out of his way - at least thrice as far as I can remember - to help resolve difficult situations for me. Way to go, guys and all the very best!

I was moving to reading from Manchester for the first time, and was super scared of getting scammed (as i have gotten scammed previously), but the team is absolutely amazing and incredibly friendly. I drove down to reading with Ivan standing outside with my room keys and guess what the Houses are SUPER CLEAN, the roommates are all working professionals and super friendly, and the agency is literally one call away incase anything goes wrong. super impressed.

I rented a property at 20 South Street, Caversham, and while the location and surroundings were wonderful, my experience with the agency was far from satisfactory. I had read previous tenants' reviews about the agency's poor service but decided to give them a chance, hoping those experiences were subjective. Unfortunately, I encountered similar issues. If you choose to rent with this agency, be prepared for ongoing difficulties. I strongly recommend taking detailed photos of the property during move-in to protect your deposit. In my case, I noticed stains on the mattress and cover upon arrival and immediately contacted the agency to request a replacement. They refused, citing that the stains were minor. However, when I moved out, they deducted money from my deposit for those same stains. When I complained, they produced 'original' photos from the inventory, which were taken when the room was first set up, not from the previous tenant's departure. It's worth noting that the inspector who dismissed my initial complaint was the same person who oversaw my move-out inspection. Additionally, the agency’s micromanagement was intrusive. They even discourage having friends over, as some residents apparently act as informants for the agency. In summary, while the property itself was appealing, the experience with the agency overshadowed any positives. I would caution anyone considering renting with them to be vigilant and document everything meticulously.

Used Pillar as they seemed really cheap. Little did I know they took advantage of both me and my tenant. Overcharged for small fixes and took all the security deposit. They didn't even know that the tenant had left weeks ago! Charged them for turning off the utilities. I think they would make any excuse to charge the tenant and also the landlord. If you use them, get their "true" pricing!

GoogleI am leaving a one-star review because there is no option to leave zero. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST RENTING from this company. I was a tenant at their 47 Henry Street property for a year and a half, and my experience was extremely unsatisfactory. The property had persistent issues with rats, black mold, and leakage. These problems were only addressed after I contacted the Council. Even then, the solutions were inadequate. Rats continued to infest the walls as the company refused to conduct a thorough investigation. Their response to the mold issue was to paint over the affected areas, and it took months for them to finally address the pipe leakage that was causing the mold, which poses serious health and safety risks. Despite repeated requests, the pest problem persisted, and I found rat droppings in the kitchen cupboards when I moved out. The company’s management was consistently unhelpful and rude throughout my tenancy. Moreover, after leaving an honest review, I was threatened with legal action unless I changed my review to at least three stars. This response further exemplifies their unprofessionalism and lack of accountability.
