In appointing Chestertons, we held a competitive process, starting with a search on Get Agent. Surprisingly, not every agent on the list responded to the sales lead; so, we interviewed only the agents that displayed the hunger to follow up efficiently. On interview, we liked Henry, who came to see us and were also persuaded by the firm’s coverage (number of local offices) and client base, which was a match for our property, in terms of style and price/budget. Henry valued it at £1.7m. We offered a 10% commission bonus for performing above that level. The top buyer offered £1.81m and then dropped out for personal reasons, leaving a second placed bidder at £1.75m, who went on to buy. We paid Chestertons £5,000 more than expected but we received £45,000 more, so, what’s not to like!
