Avoid, Not recommended.

I'm an landlord and I have recently signed a new contract with Chestertons for a new tenant. The starting date is set for 25th June, however, Chestertons only informed me when I asked them on 26th June, that the contract didn't commence because they need me to sign some other documents. Therefore, they had to push the start date to 29th June. I had to chase Chestertons all the time. They only arranged me the documents for me to sign on 29th June at 6pm! Both me and the tenants were stressed out on the day. But finally we got all the documents signed. Chestertons pushed the start date by 4 days which is a financial loss for me. And I only found out the contract didn't start because I chased them for landlord statement. I wouldn't recommend Chestertons as your property manager.

I would give it a 0 if I could! I rented a property through this company, and ever since the viewing, I have constantly been lied to about the fixes that would be made to the property, a clean before I moved in, and other things that were never done. I dealt with an agent named Arsida Kalimashi, who had poor communication and sold me a pack of lies. When I complained to her manager, Maria Reynolds, she also lied on behalf of her employee. The property had many viewings on the day I visited, so I couldn't see it properly, but it looked okay. Arsida mentioned all the things that would be fixed and also lied about which furniture would remain in the property. To make matters worse, she told the landlord that I had seen and accepted the inventory list when, in fact, she never sent it to me and lied about it. I took the property under the condition that it would be deep cleaned and issues fixed, but guess what? It wasn't done at all. I can’t express how poor the condition of the property was: broken fittings, a stinky and moldy sofa and washing machine, marks all over the flooring, a dead soil bag and an old table on the balcony, a loose front door handle, an oven in very bad condition, broken freezer drawers, a heavily stained mattress, and more! Arshida had one job! She did not even visit the property before I moved in to see if everything was okay, and no one from Chestertons visited the property either. They only seemed interested in their commission and lied at all costs to get it. In the end, I arranged for a cleaner myself, and the landlord was sent the invoice. To top it off, I complained to her manager, Maria Reynolds, who was even worse than Arsida. She lied to my face, claiming that Arshida had checked the property but showed no proof. Anyone with common sense would know that this property was not ready for a tenant, and if it is, then you are absolutely deluded. Honestly, this company just wants their cut and nothing more. They are manipulative and run by people who have no care or respect. Avoid them at all costs; I would rather pay more for a property elsewhere than deal with Chestertons. NEVER AGAIN!

They totally had their eyes on the landlord's wallet and not us or our friends when it came to renewing. Why? Greed, plain and simple.Even though we said yes to their renewal offer twice, they still tossed the property onto the open market. They tried to blame the landlord, but we know that's just a classic Chestertons move.Honestly, the worst agency we've ever had to deal with.

Beware their endless marketing spam

Asked for a valuation, estate agent turned up thoroughly unprepared. Undervalued the house and did not know anything about the area or recent sales of near identical houses at higher prices. I chose to use another estate agent. The problem is that they will not now leave me alone, this is a year later! Endless marketing calls and emails and my repeated attempts to ask them to stop have come to nothing. No other estate agent has done this. The latest muppet at the company tried to justify the lack of any option to remove my data from their lists in their email on the basis this was a business email rather than marketing. I look forward to seeing what the information commissioner has to say about this, as that seems the only option to stop the endless hassle from this company. Best advice, avoid them at all costs.
