Poor service

Asked to view a property on Bures Road and was told I had to provide proof of funds before even being allowed a viewing. I understand proof of funds is needed at offer stage but demanding it just to view a house is unnecessary and comes across as rude and intrusive; the tone felt more like an interrogation. And for clarity, questioning an asking price is not the same as being unable to afford a property. In a previous transaction, we declined to overpay for a house we did not believe was worth its asking price, and it later sold for significantly less. That is a valuation judgement (a mistake by the same agent), not a funding issue.

When it became clear the appliances couldn’t be fixed, she provided 3-4 replacement options at varying price points, all of which were cost-effective and competitive with retailers on the high street. Jess always ensures there are multiple quotes for repairs or replacements, giving me confidence that I’m getting the best value for money. Happily do it again...

I met Toby Whittome, a Director at the Jackson Stops office in Lindfield, at a neighbour’s Christmas cocktail party. As my wife and I were pondering selling our house the following spring/summer, I spent quite a few minutes peppering Toby with a number of questions. I immediately liked his manner, patient, detailed, humorous and tolerant of me chewing up his time away from the office.We have now sold our house with Toby brokering the deal. Despite knowing that I was going to use him, we interviewed a number of other companies. None of them had the manners nor manner that I wanted in my partner for this deal. As a foreigner, I am fascinated about the strong opinions that homeowners or buyers have about property agents. The English system is far from simple and there are numerous opportunities to fail. Ours had the typical ebbs and flows but it certainly didn’t feel like it. Like anything you get what you pay for and I, possibly, didn’t pay enough so we got a steal. In fact, the process was seamless, lacked the gravitas of what a transaction of this size could have had and was just plain enjoyable…except for the moving of possessions part. I queried Toby robustly about his strategy and the process and ultimately deferred to him despite having worked in property in the past.I would strongly suggest you use Toby and his team. He may not tell you what you want to hear but he will tell you what he knows. If that is not what you want to hear or he sounds uncertain, that is the reality of the market, the process, the English system and he will still know more than you do. You are in good hands. I should know. Best of luck.

Decent Letting Agent.

Everything went well and communication was good. They were also helpful when we wanted a second viewing. The downside was our landlord was hounded during the referencing process, even when we were promised they would not be contacted if we allowed the open banking. This resulted in our landlord discovering we’re leaving before we had a chance to tell them. Aside from that, it was a pleasant experience. We dealt with Eloisa in the Weybridge office and Loren for any letting problems - both are engaging and are fast to respond.

I recently had a challenging experience with Jackson Stops Agency regarding necessary repairs to my flat that required me to vacate temporarily. Initially, my attempt to address the issue was frustrating. When I called the agency, I was met with an unhelpful and hurried response from a staff member who informed me that the rental team was in a meeting. Don't Hesitate To Use Jackson-Stops

From us finding a house we liked to making an offer, the agent - Samantha, was always approachable and helpful. Samantha monitored the selling process diligently giving us constant updates when there were delays and negotiating with parties when there were was a hold up. Unexpectedly, the first sale was withdrawn after a protracted period and Samantha delivered the unwelcome news sensitively and then went out of her way to find suitable alternatives. Samantha was very caring and diplomatic when dealing with some of the questions I posed and when considering a suitable alternative. All the staff that answered the phone in the Newmarket Office were extremely approachable. Our experience spanned seven months.

When deciding on an agent to market our rather unusual property in Blagdon Hill, we carefully checked 4 of Tauntons main agents who specialise in our sort of property and decided that Brian and his team were the ones we needed. We were looking for an agent with a small, experienced and dedicated team and could not have done better than Jackson Stops. We had many viewings, but as our property was very niche equestrian, it did not suit many people, but Brian eventually found a wonderful family, who have been 'in' for a week or so now, and love it. Our sale was complicated, with a 4 strong chain, some of whom needed pushing quite hard - Brian did not shy away from having conversations all the way up the chain, where he could. Just what is wanted from a good agent. I can thoroughly recommend Brian and his team, who are experienced, dedicated and there to get the job done, will follow up all leads and push when it is required. He is a mine of information and retained his sense of humour through some difficult times. What more does any seller need from an Estate Agent?
