GoogleAbout 4 years ago I viewed a house that I liked, I was told to secure the house I need to pay £250 so i paid cash then they took my details to do a credit search then they asked for a guarantor which I provided to be told that nothing was good enough despite the guarantor has been successful for previous guarantor checks and barring in mind the guarantor has two successful busineses and is a multiple home owner, goodlife then informed me that the property has been given to someone else because I didnt meet their criteria, then I asked for the £250 back that I paid in advance to secure the property they then told me that was non refundable because I failed a credit check and my guarantor wasnt good enough so in reality that deposit didnt secure the property as it was passed over to another tenant and was basically used to do a credit check and to this day I have never recievd that money back. I never got around to writing a review here but heard bad reviews about goodlife the other day so I though ill share my experince to warn other people before going to them. IT MUST BE A SCAM FOR MAKING EXTRA CASH BECAUSE GOODLIFE SHOULD ADVISE EVERYONE THAT THE DEPOSIT IS NON REFUNDABLE AND THEY SHOULD DO ALL THE CHECKS BEFORE REQUESTING A DEPOSIT....
it won't let me reply to your email so I had to edit this review. I don't want any rental property I have my own properties myself but I tel you what you can do though since you are offering discounts etc, you can give my money back as I don't need any rentals

Hi Monir - I’m sorry to hear of your experience. We no longer make any charge for tenant applications and as a result this situation wouldn’t re-occur. We used to be charged by our referencing company for applications and this meant there was a real cost to us in accepting an application and on this occasion it sounds like a more suitable tenant came forward which I’m sorry about for you, but obviously satisfied for the landlord of the property concerned. I have to admit that effective communication of these situations is really hard and we don’t always get it right depending on the member of staff you’d dealt with. Whilst some time has now passed since this incident I’m happy to discount any services you apply for with us by £200 plus another £100 for inconvenience. We do strive to improve each day and hope we can make things better for you in the future. We send you our very best wishes and thank you for your feedback.
