Does anyone realise that there is no…

Does anyone realise that there is no such thing as Fine & Country estate agents, anymore really? Anyone can just buy a franchise and start trading as Fine & Country 'experts', with no substantiation at all, immediately charging 2 or 3 times the going rate for no real advantage to customers. There is NOTHING to substantiate this pricing strategy anymore - F&C used to be a company of experts and now is just a band of stand-alone entities charging the earth, for nothing in return. just take a look at their 'becoming a franchise holder' - NOT one mention of providing a better service, but charging 3x the usual price is mentioned everywhere. Now some F&C agents are good and others are utterly abysmal and only have their own success/profits in mind and if anything goes wrong...... good luck with finding out who was to blame.

This is the fourth house we have sold … and F+C did a great job.

This is the fourth house we have sold and was unquestionably the best experience we have had. We chose Fine and Country by spreadsheeting the SSTC numbers for all the estate agents in our area and they came top. This was confirmed by quality of the sales materials they generated: the prose was persuasive and the grammar faultless. All contacts were handled most professionally by Tom Spencer and his team and we were particularly grateful for the post-sales advisor Julie Vassar who would. always call us back and keep us in the loop.

House buying and selling

I have used F&C Leamington to sell my house and then coincidentally F&C Rugby were the vendor agents for the new house we recently bought. Both offices are exceptional at proactive communications and advise both buyers and vendors as to what is going on at all times. This applies even out of hours. I would recommend these two offices to anyone. I think it also worth noting that my local solicitors also made comment to me that they appreciated working with them because of their professionalism.

We had a delayed completion after…

We had a delayed completion after selling our home through F&C Diss. This was due to delayed processing of funds further down the chain. (No fault of F&C) Over the 24 hour period of uncertainty Chris Scott was so supportive and his experience and knowledge of processes was hugely reassuring during this stressful time. He was able to contact relevant people to ascertain exactly what the problem was and professionally push in order to expedite our completion. In a situation like that we were so pleased to have Fine & Country metaphorically ‘holding our hands’ and taking a lot of the stress from us. We really felt he ‘had our backs’ and his support was invaluable. Thanks also to the whole team at Diss who throughout our move have been professional and caring. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending their services as it is only when things go wrong that you truely recognise the benefit of a first class team behind you.

This year, I was in the position of needing to sell our beautiful island home on the death of my husband, a difficult thing to do. Chrissie Taylor at the Fine and Country Isle of Wight office was sensitive to this, and being a ‘newbie’ at selling a property (my husband had always taken on this role in the past), steered me through each stage of the process and gave me the confidence I needed that I could do this. She was friendly and very professional, prompt to respond to written or telephonic communication, and in a difficult market, helped me to land that elusive acceptable offer. This is where Heather Banning, the sales progressor took over, equally professional and responsive. Despite just two parties being involved, it was a challenging five months to exchange, but Heather was tenacious and kept up the pressure to get the sale over the finishing line, towards the end communicating almost daily with my solicitor, the buyer’s law firm and the buyer. She deserves a medal! I would have no hesitation in recommending Fine and Country Isle of Wight for their excellent, friendly and professional service.

So Disappointing

We put our house on the market with Fine and Country in Buckingham in 2022 and are about to remarket the property and I just realised how horrendous our experience was. We were conned into paying a 1,000+ GBP marketing fee as they said the would be marketing the property (which is in Buckingham) to London buyers which they possibly did and it is this that persuaded us to sign up. A young lady gave us a quote to 'dress' the house and we discovered she hadn't even gone to the property. Once we had paid the marketing fee, we had to help them rewrite the sales brochure over a period of weeks, due to repeats, spelling mistakes and incorrect plans. It was an absolute disaster from beginning to end. I trust the 2 guys we dealt with have gone on to pastures new. We asked for weeks for a For Sale board as the property is in a conservation area and has quite a lot of footfall and they finally put up a cheap plastic one as apparently the wood was too heavy for the drain. After months, we never had one viewing and the only positive was some OK pictures of the property. Experience was in 2022.

North west Kent fine and country and specifically MD Clifton Button misled us and cost us tens of thousands of pounds: Dear Clifton, We are formally giving you two weeks' notice that we will be changing estate agents. It is very disappointing that the agreed offer with Paul McCauley came to naught after 14 months of waiting. Equally frustrating is that Fine and Country advised us repeatedly that he would come through. Although there was no firm commitment from him (such as a survey), you did not continue to actively market our farm. Both of our flats were emptied in line with what Mr McCauley stipulated and now we have lost 16 months of rent on the Coach House and 11 months of rent on the Barn Flat totaling about £33,600 in lost income. In addition, we have taken on their respective Council Tax liabilities and utilities. I have felt supported by Francis through this all but otherwise the absence of responses to my repeated requests for information is incomprehensible. Please acknowledge receipt of this notice. Happy if you can pull someone out of the hat, but I think perhaps a fresh start elsewhere will achieve a sale. Kind regards, Gloria Bradford

Expecting good service!!

Having read the reviews, I genuinely thought I would be dealing with a professional company. It all started well with the Horsham office. The estate agent who came to value our property on 27th August seemed pleasant and professional, and left saying that he would be in touch soon. Unfortunately, that is where the professional service seemed to end. A week later, having heard nothing, I emailed and phoned asking for someone to contact me, but nobody did. Finally, on 8th September, I called again and was told that the agent would call me back after he had finished his current call. Two hours later, having still received no call, I contacted the office again. At that point, it felt as though there was simply no interest in having us as customers. If communication is this poor at the valuation stage, it does not inspire much confidence that communication would be any better during the far more important process of selling a property and for that reason we decided not to sell with Fine and Country. Overall, I found the response extremely unprofessional and very disappointing. It was certainly not the level of service I had expected based on the reviews I had read. I would advise anyone wishing to sell their property to look elsewhere for a professional estate agency.

We cannot thank Lara enough for everything she did to help us find our new home.
