One star too many...

They do not deserve one star.Went through the whole process of buying our dream home. I changed jobs and the lender put a caveat that the completion date would be six weeks later than planned - all agreed with the chain. Bovis sold to someone else and let us know by phone... no word of another plot, an apology or talk of our refund back.Have submitted a full complaint 48 hours ago and I’m still to receive an acknowledgement. To us this highlights the financial difficulties Bovis are in must be worse than they are letting on. They had to sell off land to Kier on the site we were purchasing on as they had ‘run out of money’ alarm bells should have rung then!!

There doesn’t seem to be a zero star rating? I don’t rate Bovis at all. We’ve had a nightmare first 3 years of our long awaited retirement! Hoped to finally get out of the frying pan of stress only to jump into the inferno that is Bovis customer (couldn’t ) care (less!)Snags are one thing, they have sorted most of those, but actual building defects that will cost real money? Not a chance! Bouncing floors that cause everything to rattle, cracked tiles where the floor has moved, wall mounted floating toilets not secured properly so tiles cracking on the wall. Insulation inside to prevent sounds carrying from the bathroom and toilets. These things have been photographed so many times by so many Bovis staff, all agreed in principle but then deliberately “forgotten!” Don’t go near this awful company if you value your sanity and your hard earned money!!!

Bovis!?! More like Bogus!!!!

We moved into our bovis house 22 months a go & were initially very pleased with our purchase; the main selling point being that it was freehold. However, having lived in the property for nearly two years we've noticed more & more thing that were clearly rushed; fixtures & fittings not installed correctly, shoddy paint work, uneven walls & general unacceptable workmanship. They're not exactly quick to resolving issues either taking over six months (and counting) to fix our front door & over 12 months to agree there is an intermittent leak in our en-suite ( which we now can't use). They were initially very helpful until they took out money, refocusing their efforts on the next mug to take money from. DON'T BUY A BOVIS HOUSE!!! You have been warned!

DO NOT BUY BOVIS

I'm a second buyer of my home and since moving in, despite it being 3 years old, I have had numerous issues. Bowing and flexing creaking floors, leaking pipes, gutters not fitted correctly, front door not fitted so water ingress, Windows and doors have had to be repaired several times, inspection covers collapsing on drive. Bovis have taken to ignoring emails now. Do not buy from them. Poor quality, poor customer service. Shocking.

Bovis Homes are deceitful.

Bovis Homes are deceitful and fraudulent, their Directors have admitted hat they hand over completed houses to purchasers that are unfinished and not to specification. Bovis homes Directors are aware that they have constructed numerous houses that have substantial faults, these faults at best could devalue these houses or at worst prevent theses properties being sold with out substantial rectification and cost, for this reason these known issues are chosen to be ignored by Bovis, leaving the purchasers with no knowledge until these faults are established in the future, at a substantial cost to the resident. The issues include none compliance to, specification, structural and British Standards.

Awful. Find someone else!

I really, really wish my parents didn't buy this god-awful house. They were so excited to have their dream home, but now they can't sleep well at night worrying about flooding, sewer problems, and have to waste so much precious time and energy battling their customer service and urging for something to be done. This should have been happy times for our family! Bovis has ruined it completely. Before they even moved in, the manhole covers in the front gardens flooded the whole garden.Within a week of them having moved in, the utility room flooded, soaking into the wooden floorboards of the kitchen and practically flooding almost all of the downstairs, and the carpet. This happened at about 2am in the morning. My Dad had to run outside and switch off the water pipes from the front garden. The floorboards were ruined. My Dad demanded the issue to be fixed and floorboards replaced. They sent a plumber who told us everything should be fine now - didn't do anything about the floorboards. So we left it. A month later, same thing happens. Utility room floods at midnight, this time an issue with the internal pipes. My Mum got there before the water could get out of the kitchen and switched the water off. They sent a plumber round again who thankfully seems to have fixed the issue for good. Still, this certainly shouldn't have happened twice. Upstairs, there's clearly an issue with the two ensuite toilets in that dirty water from one toilet seems to be flowing into the other. We complained, and a plumber came around who suggested to us that it was because the toilet in the other ensuite wasn't being used, so we just needed to 'give it a flush' every day. Utter rubbish. No one needs to flush a toilet regularly even if they aren't using it every day to 'keep it clean'. It wasn't a big issue though, so we left it. That's not the end of it. Having lived there for a few months now, we've been noticing a bad smell of manure around our doorway but not beyond it. The grass had also been growing differently in the lawn - with a section clearly darker than the others. We didn't think much of it - until we cut the grass recently, and saw that beneath the grass, the mud was waterlogged and swampy. Clearly, there's been an issue with the drainage and sewage system which has been helping the grass grow better in one area than the other - and accounting for the bad smell too. We emailed Bovis immediately - only to have them tell us that they sent people around to investigate and that drains were 'flowing free'. Again, utter garbage. Anyone with eyes would have seen that the grass in our garden looked an utter state. And true to their word, the very next day I returned home with my Mum to see dirty, smelly, brown sewage water flowing freely out of the manhole covers and drenching our front garden, even though there's been no one in the house! Having read online, I'm beginning to fear that our house has been built over sewage lines and pumps connected to the other houses - as there are no less than 3 manhole covers in our front garden. And yet, they had the audacity to tell us that there were no problems with the drainage! We called emergency services to be told that it could take up to 4 hours for them to arrive! They are clearly not interested in their customers. The estate we live in is new, and the houses either side of us have not been sold - and they've given up on cutting the grass too. The low standards and quality is simply shocking.

Appalling Customer Service

I’m really pleased I found these reviews on Bovis Homes, I had reserved a plot of plan and made a deposit of £500. I am having viewers for my home and one buyer wanting to proceed when he sells. My solicitor advised me that Bovis were going to release my reserved plot as I hadn’t sold on the 14th June, I called the sales office and was told, don’t worry we will work with you, this has been said a few times and they appeared content that I was having continuous viewers and had interest.I called to update the Male sales advisor, also mentioning my concern of the 14th June release date, he stated ‘read into that what you will’ I’m confused still as to what that was supposed to mean!Yesterday 21st June, I received a voicemail from the Male sales agent he asked me to return his call, and that it wasn’t good news. ( hardly a good way to leave a voicemail) I returned the call 10 minutes later and eventually got to speak with him.He didn’t ask anything about the interest offers etc on my property, he stated I had lost my property to another buyer that day.I haven’t been notified whatsoever that my reserved plot had been released, no grace period to work to or to be aware of, he had already said on the telephone on a previous call ‘read into that what you will’ and I read that there was no immediate concern as most people would.I would also mention that my reserved plot barely has a roof on it at the time of writing, so what is the immediate rush? I am appalled by this manner and behaviour and considering legal advice and action.I’m so pleased that I found these reviews as it would seem they have actually indicated a favour.

Do not on any account buy a Bovis home

Do not on any account buy a Bovis home. Not only are they built to a really low standard, not meeting Building Regulations in many cases. They also have no customer service whatsoever to fix the numerous faults they include for free in their terrible construction methods. Their philosophy is to build sub standard houses and then offer the cheapest bodge possible to fix it. The company is rotten from the CEO down. You have no idea in 2019 how a company so bad could survive. Oh, I know, there is no one to stop them. No ombudsman, no trading standards. Nothing. Stay away from this company

Do not buy a Bovis home, whatever you do

Do not whatever you do,no matter how much you fall in love with a show home do business with this charlatan company. Your house will be a complete bodge and scrape the barrell budget build based on no care for standards, quality or customer satisfaction. My family has been totally ripped off and treated horrendously by Bovis over the last 2 years. Avoid at all costs no matter how emotionally drawn you get to the new home you desire.Do a the research you can on reviews, Facebook before entertaining their marketing.. trust me, knock on every door to speak to existing Bovis customers - you'll be blown away by what the company is really about.Sickening, worse decision ever made - massive nightmare.

Still waiting for deposit money

I put a deposit down on a house in Aston Brook with Graham and Laura and decided not to go with the house a week later, I amNow waiting a month after cancelling and still have not received my money back, it’s disgusting! Do not reserve a property with Bovis unless you are 100% sure. Graham and Laura at Aston Brook treated us with no respect and have not replied to our emails we had to go through complaints to try and find out what had happened to our money.

Good service, poor design

I have found Bovis to be much better than I expected especially after reading the 1* reviews. The initial After Sales care was excellent with the site managers fixing up problems within hours of my reporting them. After a few weeks I was encouraged to report issues to Customer Care who pass them on to contractors who may or may not respond. The one area that is disappointing is the details that go to make a house habitable. For example, in my house there are no toilet roll holders fitted and no place where they could be fitted (unless screwing the holder onto the shower door counts).Lightswitch by the bed in any of the bedrooms? Forget it, you have to walk over to the door to turn out the light at bedtime.Want to have a heated towel rail to dry your damp towel during the summer months? Well, you have to turn on the central heating to get hot water to the towel rail. There are so many examples of the house's internal fit-out being designed by someone who's apparently never lived in a house, or maybe has a mind so dull and unimaginative that they can't foresee what would be needed. Having said that, I've no idea whether other house builders employ designers who are any less dumb.I have found the overall quality of workmanship to be a little lower than I would have expected from people who do it for a living. In some cases the work looks as if it has been done by an amateur like myself.

Awful service, awful design, awful overall

Well 8 months in and the driveway still looks like a lake when it rains. Drains are blocked, windows are blown already. Half a ton of rubble seems to be buried in the front garden and just covered over with half a ton of bark chippings. We will keep updating this as the year goes on and Bovis fail to take their responsibilities seriously. The trouble with Bovis is they are still employing some of the staff and contractors that made them what they were a few years ago - generally recognised as one of the worst builders in the country, if not the planet. The arrogance of Build Directors who know better than their customers (and get proved wrong). The incompetence of their Site Managers who supposedly have Quality Awards - for sites that were barely holes in the ground when the awards were given. Contractors that don't give a damn about the quality of their work and Site Managers that don't seem able to check the quality. If wobbly gutters, incorrect angles, mastic everywhere, poor tiling, poor drainage, roller-coaster driveways with puddles everywhere and blocked drains (to name but a few) is what they describe as a quality product then goodness only knows how they make a profit - unless it is at the expense of the poor souls who buy them. I doubt if any of their designers have ever actually lived in a Bovis home (and who could blame them?). Nothing is really in a sensible place or provides a really 'green' home, as they claim. They also seem to be in bed with incompetent Solicitors so no one can give a completion date unless it is about 7 days away. Communication is awful, visible quality is pretty awful so what is really worrying is what you can't see. How long will the foundations last? How long will plumbing last (ours is leaking after the first month), and will the walls stand up to high winds? If they cannot get a gutter straight then what hope is there for things you can't see?I guess as they don't reply on here they are not bonused by what is said about them on TrustPilot. Maybe if the shareholders insisted on Greg's bonus being linked to TP star ratings they might build better homes. Avoid them until they do is my advice.

Having bought a brand new home for the first time, all other homes have been previously loved, we were sceptical and have seen mostly negative reviews about most of the of the big builders.Bovis were excellent with their sales service, they offered great incentives which were too good to turn down to be honest. Yeah we’ve had a few snags with the house but Bovis are pretty proactive in putting them right, just don’t rely on the on site build team as they just aren’t interested, you need to go through Customer Services to get things done.Things still aren’t perfect but we got a great house for a great price and we have a real friendly community feel on the development It’s a shame somany have poor experiences but I wanted to share our experience too

Shocking!

Would give a 0 if it was an option. From cold rooms, to creaky floors, smelly and blocked drains and toilets, to lack of sound insulation between walls to poor fixtures and fittings, the list is endless. The design of the house itself is beautiful but everything else is a disaster. Had a shower glass collapse about 3months after moving, no regrets from the company whatsoever and its still not been replaced 2 months after. They had their customer care manager who tried to disregard my main complaints so I've had to refer the matter to NHBC. Lots of maintenance guys in and out of the houses on this site which speaks volumes. They lure you in with good deals but be ready for the headache.

Bovis are evil, ignore this review and regret it forever!

Don't buy a bovis home, save yourself a lot of distress and heartache. We moved in to over 300 issues and 2 months later we still have over 100. I can't put into words the stress they have caused me and my family. They have even put the health and safety of our child at risk. All they care about is their bonuses. Join the bovis victim groups on Facebook and believe what you read and see. Don't think your plot will be better. Don't believe their lies. Ignore this review and regret it for the rest of your life.

Swamp for a garden!!!!

Would give no stars if I possibly could! Bovis Homes are an absolute disgrace & should be held to account & investigated. Once they have your money they have no interest whatsoever in rectifying problems with your new build...three years down the line, despite numerous complaints & even a NHBC claim I still have a garden Shrek would be more at home in as it resembles what can only be described as a swamp! Still battling to get this sorted now which is a very stressful & time consuming experience. Avoid Bovis Homes at all costs!!!!

Bovis - a disgrace from top to bottom!

Well I can only agree with most of the posts on here. Bought a Bovis home, moved in 17/12/19. Several issues later, and an e mail to the CEO, we are still no further forward! I received a survey, and duly completed it. I receive an e mail from Lorraine Farrow, Eastern Area sales manager, chastising me for giving BOVIS, and my home, a very low score!Notwithstanding that e mail has been sent to Greg Fitzgerald the CEO too. You probably won’t be surprised to hear my case is now in the hands of one Paul Moran, a Director. And guess what, after being informed of a response within five working days - nothing!I have also sent them an invoice I have, and I have paid, to have put right what Bovis couldn’t get right in the first place. You guessed it, not even a response! Watch this space. A more incompetent company will be difficult to find!

Bought a £480,000 house

Bought a £480,000 house. Sales process went well. Then the issues started... Creaking floors. Hot water had no thermostat fitted. Garage door frames collapsed. Fascia fell off, hitting me. Culmination of issues was a flood destroying half the downstairs due to hot water pipe not being fitted. Four months later, issues still not fixed. Complaint escalated to director level (Sandra Washbrook) who assured me all items would be fixed within 28 days. Strangely enough, they weren't. Said they'd sent a cheque - they hadn't. Said they'd told their insurance company - they hadn't. I don't know whether they are dishonest or incompetent.Genuinely the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

DO NOT USE BOVIS HOMES!!!!They were AMAZING before I paid but on moving day they refused to give me the keys before 5pm despite telling me on the phone (recorded call as well) that I could have them at 1pm as a "good will gesture". The sales agent made my partner cry on our moving day as well because of how rude she was AND they simply do not care about customers once you have paid. This company are tragic and its no wonder they lost millions due to a fine for misselling. We have countless examples of things we were promised by sales that simply weren't true and have never come to fruition. Bovis Homes need investigating as the sale methods and aftersales process are criminal.

BAN BOVIS BUILDS

1 star is generous, Bovis deserve 0. This housing developer couldn’t care less about anything other than taking your initial money. The site managers do nothing but lie if you’re able to actually meet one, they’re always unavailable when you arrive on site. The customer care team at Bovis are equally as bad. 40+ plus phone calls, complaints and escalation after escalation but months later you still won’t have a reply. They leave areas they’re building in an absolute mess, nails and broken objects constantly on the floor. Expect a punctured tyre once a month at an expense to yourself. Bovis and site developers constantly pass blame between each other, therefore eliminating who the onus lies with. Awful company and shoddier new builds. If you purchase a house with Bovis add an additional few years to your expected completion date and don’t expect an employee to return any type of query you may have. If they are subject to a license they should have theirs revoked. BAN BOVIS BUILDS

Very badly built homes. Cardboard boxes. I had to have my lawn laid twice as it was flooding on one side. No one took responsibility and I had to have it dug up again. Ended up with fake lawn which sounds crispy when I walk on the side with poor drainage. I spent so many days and nights upset. I would never buy from Bovis again. I can not recommend BOVIS. We moved into our home in Pebble Beach, Seaton just over a year ago. We were promised our rosd would be sorted soon after we moved in and all snags done asap. We provided access for trades but although we have contacted customer care on several occasions, we now only ever receive their automated response. Their customer care is totally non existent.
