I had a great experience with Mike Oakton at Oakton Estates. Mike and his team are true professionals, but what makes them stand out is their honesty and willingness to help. He’s not the pushy type. We have been lucky enough to work with Mike and his team at Oakton's estate agents to both rent and also sell a property. From the first conversation with Mike, we have been very impressed with how professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy the whole team are. Whenever you contact the team they respond rapidly and sort any issues with ease, nothing is ever too much trouble, they go above and beyond. After having several poor experiences with other estate agents we didn't hesitate to ask Mike and his team to also sell a house on behalf of a family member, again, Oakton's didn't disappoint! Mike was very professional and the whole team did a fantastic job, ensuring we were able to leave our house and be confident it would be well looked after. I am a property investor and frequently buy property that fit our business strategy. Recently I purchased a city apartment advertised by this agent. You could say I have frequent engagement with numerous estate agents and qualify to give a balanced opinion on the level of service provided and more importantly the competence and interest the agent had in the sale. My point of contact for this transaction was Rachel Thornton. From my initial contact I was furnished with all of the information needed to make a viable decision to proceed with the purchase. I had sufficient information and advert pictures to decide, but the agent has a policy where I have to view before making an offer. Viewing was arranged and yes worked like clockwork and again the knowledge of the gent showing the property was exceptional.. he was able to give relevant information not only on the property but for the local area. I was shown around and given further information to support the sale and have to admit actually viewing consolidated my initial thoughts and i was definitely going to buy! Unfortunately, due to the lease complications the process was rather drawn out and although I have relationship with the solicitor acting, they could only do so much when dealing with the 3rd party solicitor... Rachel was proactive in engaging the vendor and 'encouraging' their solicitor to respond in a timely manner. Finger on the pulse all they way through with a defib at hand! My finance offer was near expiry alibi it being extended... Rachel acknowledged this and really did get engaged with all parties to meet a deadline.. this saved me a small fortune in a reapplication and the vendor a significant processing time. Generally I have selected choice words describe employees of estate Agencies (especially the larger nationally recognised names) which include the more milder worders to include incompetent, uninterested, unreliable, lack knowledge, literally wouldn’t trust them to organise a ‘drink’ in a brewery!! Rachel on the other hand is interested, knowledgeable, reliable (called me from home once when she was off as keeps check on emails) and most importantly CARES! rachel is a credit to the business she represnts. From my experience I have no hesitation in recommending this business to sell your house or buy through them.

The best estate agents I’ve used! From the first meeting with Mike valuing my property, I knew it was in good hands! We rented a flat with Oaktons. During viewing the flat Andrew confirmed decorating and cleaning would be done before we moved in. When we moved in the flat was dirty and the decorating was absolutely awful, a 5 year old could have done a better job no exaggeration. Therefore we hired a professional decorator to correct this who painted it to a very high standard. One small wall behind the sink was painted in a very very light pink. When we left everything was cleaned to a high standard but i forgot to clean the oven. Andrew checked the property, said it was definitely up to expectations and couldnt see a reason why i wouldnt get my deposit back, but wanted to take £50 off the £900 deposit for oven cleaning to which i agreed. The landlord then took over 2 months to check the property to which she then said she needed professional cleaning and decorating done which was a shock to me as we had improved the decorating to professional standards, however she moaned about the one very light pink hardly noticeable wall behind the sink area. Meanwhile, its been 2 months and we are still waiting for the deposit back which they held. They tried to take £600 for ‘decorating and cleaning’ when we did investigation she hadnt hired any professionals to do any work, but only had a quote and was trying to charge us anyway!!! Andrew and oaktons knew about this and knew the flat was left in a better way than when we moved. After fighting the case starting march 2024 we have finally received the deposit back in january 2025 through DPS. As young renters this was extremely hard for us and luckily we moved to a rented place where the landlord is a family member and didn't ask for a deposit or we would have been screwed! Furthermore when i moved into the property it was filthy. Cigarets in the windows, food and dirt in the cupboards and fridge, paint everywhere! Oaktons are clearly on the landlords side! Would not recommend using this estate agents unless you want to loose your deposit for no reason

Bunch of crooks, taken 8 months to get my daughters deposit back through DPS. They aren’t on the tenants side. They lied about having cleaners and decorators in and wanted to take £600 out of her £900 deposit. We had plenty of evidence of their lies. The flat was also disgustingly dirty when my daughter moved in, bathrooms weren’t cleaned food left in cupboards and decorating was a joke! Take plenty of photos when you leave one of their rentals.
