Unprofessional and pushy

Foxtons is not a scam company, but they are unprofessional. Don't get fooled by the good ratings: they explicitly message you and ask to write a good review (see all the reviews naming specific agents). When trying to schedule viewings in your rental they use tactics like threatening to talk to the landlord, call repeatedly, and switching to opt out instead of explicit approval so they can just show up at your doorstep if you don't reply in time; all this despite the contract explicitly limiting viewings to specific times and prior approval. On top many of their agents are very unorganized. Showing up without keys and calling you while at work to let them in. Not talking to each other to coordinate multiple viewings etc. I lived in 10+ apartments over the last 10 years and never had such an experience before.

Moved into a New Build in April, we were given two sets of keys in our welcome pack, both not for our flat. The agents on the weekend didn't seem to know where our flat keys were. They knew we all have large suitcase with us ahead of the big move the next day. After constant phones calls magically, a set was found which did work. So, 4 new tenants, 1 set of keys. I did manage to get another set after a neighbour messaged me, as they’d also been given wrong keys, so we were able to swap. We had to get 2 sets cut extra as there are 4 of us, which Foxtons promised to reimburse, this is yet to happen. We also had to buy another fob as we only were given 3, with the 4th in our letterbox, which we never got keys for. Key inventory management is not that difficult, for a New Build where they hand over every key, which might I add, were labelled when we were taken around properties. It’s been months of constant chasing for letterbox keys. The Building Management said it was Foxtons responsibility, Foxtons ignored my emails. I even submitted an official complaint via the Foxton head office, which I had to chase twice and still haven’t had any response at all for being ignored. As an active tenant, this has not bee a good start at all to this tenancy. And I am pessimistic now about how this will continue going forward, as a lot of tenant issues are to be resolved through Foxtons, rather than the building management company. Finally, after nearly 4 months, they replaced the letterbox lock, but still no apology or communication from my emails or my flatmate going in person. Finally we can catch up on outstanding bills and other important documents we’ve been waiting for. I’m highly disappointed as this is not the service expected. If you are managing ongoing tenancies, your focus can’t be just getting the agreements signed, it must be ongoing customer service and support. I doubt I’ll hear anything back from Foxtons, besides the standard reply on most of the negative reviews.

She hit the nail on the head with what we were looking for, and got it secured for us within a day of viewing it. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. Based on my experience, I would advise new landlords to be extremely cautious with Foxtons. The agent’s explanations of commission and contract terms were unclear, and I ended up in a lengthy dispute over unexpected fees. Which is escalated to ombudsman and will probaly go to the court. Never trust a word of Foxton's agents. Always insist on written communication and carefully review all documents before signing. I would not recommend Foxtons to others based on my experience.

We cannot recommend Paris Brown highly enough! 😆 ♡ Honestly, she is just one of those people you feel lucky to have on your side!!!! She took the time to really understand what we needed & not just ticking boxes, but actually getting it, that made such a difference from the start and made us feel at ease. She's warm, empathetic, and genuinely cares. You never feel like just another tenancy to her. It felt like she was looking out for us the whole way through, and would go to bat for us whenever it was needed!!!!! The responsiveness alone sets her apart !!!! she replies so quickly, every time. No waiting around, no wondering if your message got lost. That kind of reliability sounds small but it makes the whole process so much less stressful for us. And the referencing! It's usually such a nightmare. But Paris had everything sorted so efficiently that we were done in under 90 minutes (world record). Genuinely. She was completely on it. If you get Paris, you're in great hands. She's the best, ever!
