I loved this firm's approach to their clients. It is not often you would find yourself using the words `honest' and `helpful' to describe an estate agent(!) but I have nothing but praise for this firm who stand head & shoulders above their Southchurch/Thorpe Bay counterparts. Back in 2012 I registered with a number of estate agents (inc. Hair & Sons) and viewed around 25 properties before making a purchase in 2013 through Blackshaw Homes. Hair & Son carried out their viewings in a helpful non-pushy fashion and were the ONLY estate agent who wished me well with my new purchase. If I ever decide to put my current home on the market I would not consider any other firm to take on the marketing other than Hair & Son.

FacebookOur daughter rented a studio flat on the fifth floor of a building for her and our granddaughter (one room + bathroom) which was not only a health risk but they almost doubled the rent within the first twelve months because it was being paid by housing benefit. Happy to post images and video of the damp conditions that Hair and Sons expected them to live in, but just as importantly there was a loose window that was extremely dangerous and if any pressure was applied against the window it would have fallen 5 floors to the ground killing anybody in the way. God only knows what would have happened to our 2 yr old granddaughter had she been able to climb up on the windowsill and lean against the window. Even after contacting Southend Council it took months to get our daughter moved and all of that time Hair and Sons did nothing to fix or improve the property. Hair and Sons might be an established agent, but they have no business ethics and consider its moral duties to its customers less important than monetary gain. Our daughter is now fighting to get her deposit back and they refuse to speak with her and ignore all email communication. Unfortunately for them I will pursue them until it has been resolved.Find a different agent, you have been warned.

Hi Alison, having spoken to our lettings department I understand they have tried to address your daughter's issues over the last few months, including trying to replace meters to improve the quality of the heating, site visits by our property managers, contractors and the landlord. Your daughter was made aware before she moved in of what needed to be done and was given the option of delaying moving in until after everything was in place, an option which she declined. She has now stated her desire to leave the property whilst still under contract, so we have therefore immediately begun remarketing and have received enquiries from interested applicants, however we have not been able to arrange a time that suits your daughter to carry out viewings which, as I'm sure you understand, are imperitive for us to be able to resolve the situation and allow your daughter to vacate as soon as possible. We will therefore continue to to attempt to get these viewings booked. We are also still in contact with the landlord to rectify these issues.

I made this comment on behalf of my brother who is disgusted with the treatment he has received from your company. He has an ongoing dispute with regards works carried out by your company contractors on his flat back in 2018. He was assured any damage caused would be would put right and it hasn't. Not a very good way to run a business, hence my comment.
