As far as the actual supermarket goes, it is very good. It is usually clean, tidy, organised, well stocked etc. There is usually a team member nearby if you need help, and they are usually very helpful! However, it is usually very busy, and because of this, I dont think I've ever had a trip to this Sainsburys without coming out just slightly annoyed. People take up the aisles with trolleys, or just general obliviousness that theyre in the way. People racing out the aisles and walking into people, etc. However, the main problem I have with this Sainsburys that I havent encountered anywhere else, is their closing hours. From around 9-10pm, all the workers congregate near the bakery with huge trolleys and take up that entire area of the shop floor, rendering it useless for traversing through the shop. I appreciate that work needs to be done, but thats the other thing, I don't think I have ever seen anyone actually working during this time. Usually I will see most of the team members just talking, or just standing around doing nothing! The other thing is that they're so loud whilst doing this aswell, I've seen a couple people just throwing boxes of stock onto the floor, and the noise just makes for a very unpleasant atmosphere. For someone who regularly shops at this time, it can really drag down the shopping experience. However, other than the closing staff, I don't have many issues. All the items are in places that make sense, and so are easy to find, which is pretty much the base line for a decent shop. Updated 13/09/26: The display of pure chaos that happened this Sunday evening is just unacceptable. Sainsburys Portswood NEEDS to pick up the game and hire more attendants at the tills. 3 queues from one end of the shop to the other is just unacceptable. Sort. It. Out.

ILLEGAL FORCED AI SURVEILLANCE STALKING WITH NO SIGNAGE ON ENTRY. Sainsburys is now illegally surveilling customers with AI because the only signage in customer view is on exit (at the tobacco counter) meaning we have no opportunity to revoke consent or walk away from the silent, hidden stalking. I do not consent and I will be wearing face coverings in future.

Sainsbury’s in Portswood is a convenient supermarket for regular grocery shopping. The store is spacious and generally well organised, making it easy to find most items. There is a good range of products, including fresh produce, ready meals, and everyday essentials. It does get quite busy during peak hours, especially in the evenings, which can make shopping a bit hectic. Prices are reasonable overall, with some good value options if you choose carefully. It’s a reliable option for weekly groceries, especially if you live nearby.

In what universe is the new layout an improvement on what went before. There is no product flow from isle to isle and no cohesion within isles. Sweets and biscuits in the same isle as alcohol & pet products in the same isle as human food stuff, Ugh, and the soft fruit section is a disaster within a disaster, not on display but stacked like cheap ready meals. I'm sorry but to me this new layout looks like a disaster zone waiting to be cleared.

This super market has gone down hill i have to keep date checking every thing i need as ive been caught out with products that have the following days date on them stock rotation is terrible ,if you go through big shop self service and require help staff are just stood chatting at the other end and they wonder why people get short tempered when they have been waving at them for 5mins and are ignored it needs a real shake up

Big sign -30 pack diet coke for £10 with nectar. At checkout came up as £14.75. Advised that was wrong and I didn't want to pay that. Item removed. No offer to check the price. I went back to display to check I had read the price correctly. I had. Told another member of staff. I was told to tell customer services. No offer by them to sort out the right price so I could purchase item. As there was no queue at customer service I decided to mention it, got a blank look and no offer to sort it out so I could purchase item at displayed price. Sale lost. My thanks goes to the one member of staff who helped. The man who lifted the diet coke pack off the display for me.

Did a big shop at this supermarket, which (given the size of the shop) took me just over two hours. I ended up receiving a parking ticket from Euro Car Parks instead. I appreciate that the car park is managed by an independent company, but I would have expected Sainsbury's to take some responsibility. I contacted Customer Services and even followed up my case, but unfortunately never received a response. The shop itself is good, but the parking rules are inconvenient, and it was disappointing to receive no support afterwards. I won't be returning, as no one should be penalised for doing a large shop at Sainsbury's itself!

Still a solid, dependable supermarket, but it’s definitely lost a bit of its ease. The self service tills have become more problematic with scanning and bagging. Having to wait for a member of staff to reset the machine is very frustrating. Prices keep edging up, which you expect nowadays, but it’s noticeable on the regular shop. The layout changes haven’t helped either, simple things feel harder to find than they should. The new entrance barriers are understandable with the rise in theft, but they do take away from the relaxed feel it used to have. Car park is fine, but that entrance speed ramp is still far too harsh. Even creeping over it doesn’t feel right, definitely not suspension-friendly. On the upside, shelves are usually well stocked and it remains convenient. It does the job, but it’s no longer as effortless as it once was.

Online shopping set to come at 1 hour slot between 9-10am. Nothing appears. Call and are told to wait until 1pm. Nothing. Call again, after a drawn out conversation, 2 drivers didn't turn up, so we just weren't getting our shopping today. No one notified us, we hung around for hours waiting, because we were told to. Wasted a Sunday, tickets for an event that cost us hundreds of pounds that we had to not go to. So not only have we still not got our shopping, we now have to go shopping on a Sunday afternoon, explain to friends and family why we couldn't make the event. I am hugely hugely disappointed, not only for the above reasons, but because not one phone call email or text was sent to let us know what's happening. This seems like a massive customer service failure and just in general failure of managing staff and tasks. I would love to hear back from you to explain these problems, why Sainsbury's official stance is silence and possibly reimburse me for what was meant to be a wonderful Sunday.

Worst agent ever. They are extremely rude to tenants. I don't know if they will be so rude to local people. On the last day, because the road was blocked, I could not move out before 10am, so I called the agent, and that man was extremely rude, he told me to get my things and get out. There were equipments in the house that were broken and always put off fixing it, the washing machine didn't work for weeks. The staff are always stalling but not solving the problem. They kept trying to put the blame on the tenant. Something happened that day, the road was blocked by the police. Also, they charged 80 pounds for the mouldy mattress which is not caused by human factors, and 50 pounds for a shower curtain rod that has been broken when we first moved in. I cannot control all the tenants in that property, but we kept three of the bedrooms and kitchen clean when we left. Maybe next time, if a facility breaks down, the agent should fix it immediately, not just tell the tenants stop using it, otherwise it is their responsibility.

Dear Anna, Thank you for your review. I am sorry you feel this way but the staff were not rude to you and you were advised well in advance of the time you had to vacate the property by. There were no issues with the roads in the area at that time. The property was not maintained and you were all made aware of the condition the property was left in at the end of the tenancy. No general maintenance issues were blamed on you as the tenants. I do hope you leave your next student house in a more suitable condition. All the best, Kings Estates

I recently was looking for a studio flat with Kings and many thanks to Jade who was very helpful, kind and patient along the way, she took the time to help me find a place suitable for me and also went above and beyond by negotiating things for me with the landlords so that it was better a suited place and made it a really easy process. Thanks to her i had a great experience with Kings.

Disgraceful response from Sainsbury’s in portswood ,my partner done the shopping and on leaving the shop was approached by an Asian security staff member who when she asked did he want to check the receipt even though the alarm hadn’t gone off proceeded to intimidate her and laugh and very weirdly say that he had watched her for weeks and knows she goes in there every week ,when she then asked if he had a problem he just laughed and said I’m going to stop you every week as I can see it makes you uncomfortable ,she then after feeling very scared left and reported the incident ,this took 3 attempts before it even got acknowledged ,she spoke to the manager who asked her to go in this week and do her shopping but make herself known to customer services on arrival ,she did this and nobody knew anything about it ,she then asked for the duty manager to be called to the desk ,was then quizzed by the customer services attendant ,in the meantime it’s took 10minutes and during that time the reported security guard spots my partner and circles get a few times ,when the customer services asks again for the duty manager he then approaches the customer services and starts talking to her and laughing whilst sneering at my partner ,after which he walked off and my partner was told in a very bad attitude ….he was just doing his job last week !!,the duty manager attended and my partner left .never to return to any Sainsbury’s again ,from this we have reported the 2 incidents to the police and the local echo has been approached as we are interested in knowing if anybody else has experienced this ,if anybody has please report it as this can’t be allowed to continue ,it’s intimidation and today he had no reason to leave his post to come near my partner as she was at customer services and had no shopping so clearly is a very strange individual

Racist staff member called Tanya - Extremely rude and discriminatory I witnessed a staff member called Tanya avoid a young Black Muslim man asking for help in the store, she then proceeded to pull some very inappropriate and horrible faces at the poor young man. After a while when I was checking out, I noticed he was going to the check out and she ran ahead of him to shut the check out desk that he was going to - which is something I have never seen before and was quite frankly absurd and clearly discriminatory. I didn't hear what she was saying to him and the exchange, but I could see that she was then exhibiting some very unkind and unprofessional behaviour, which was racially charged and also based on his religion.

Just moved out of a property managed by King's, and their service was absolutely terrible. While they didn't individually manage the properties, their customer service and paperwork organisation was poor. During the contract process, they required physical paper copies of proof for things like guarantor info, etc. While this would have been usually fine, they were diabolical at keeping the paperwork in check. For starters, we were asked in the office if we would like to sign up for a Unihomes package as the property was advertised with such. We said yes, and each tenant individually signed unihomes forms for contact information, bank information, etc. After this, they said that it would be sorted from that point on. It was only until we moved into the property that we realised our contract with Unihomes hadn't been fulfilled. We emailed Kings to ask what had happened with it all, and they simply responded that they had no record of it, and we never filled out anything as it was not on our file. That was ridiculous as we absolutely had and would be told it was going to be handled by the office and that we didn't have to sign up independently. We ended up doing it ourselves after we had already arrived under the assumption that the contract had already begun as per the discussion in Kings months prior. Secondly, they constantly lost important paperwork from our family members. As we are students and need guarantors, we each had family members who had to physically mail sensitive paperwork to Kings so it could be approved for our tenancy. My guarantor had to send multiple paper copies of things like P60s, proof of mortgage, etc, only to be told each time they apparently never received it. At one point I had emailed them to confirm that they didn't need anything else from us (fees or paperwork) and they confirmed that we had sent everything necessary and that all of our paperwork was filed and approved. Not even a month after, I had another email from them saying that I had not yet sent my guarantor paperwork. After this, my guarantor mailed the copies for the third time, and it was apparently actually filed away properly this time. There were other occurrences similar to this, but you get the idea. I am not posting this review for any response from Kings or Alike. I just want people to know that they are a pain to work with and will make renting stressful. Especially if you're a student, and it's your first time renting privately, if that's the case, go elsewhere because they are not student friendly as they claim. Their staff must not be trained properly or they are too busy to keep on top of the paperwork, but either way, it is not ideal.

Not friendly for cyclists. I have a Brompton bike and I can literally create a shopping trolley out of the bike. Bromptons are very functional and are promoting a green healthy environment in opposition to cars and vans. Sainsbury doesn't share the green approach and doesn't want the Brompton carts inside the shop. Leaving such an expensive bike outside is out of the question. Waitrose is more approachable. I was able to do shopping there with no problem.

Ample parking spaces in their car park with easy access. The shopping area is spacious and the food provisions Inc food from different parts of the world. My favorite bread is their own brand of multi seeded loaf costing only £1.65/loaf 🍞 Thank you Sainsbury. You remain one of the best choices for food purchases! 🙂 …

A superbly managed large supermarket that excels in all key areas. Selection, 5/5 The product selection is excellent and offers everything you need, from standard items to specialty products. Diverse, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Prices, 5/5 The prices are fair and reasonable, especially for a large store with a wide range of products. Cleanliness, 5/5 The store is very clean, well-maintained, and pleasantly designed. You immediately feel comfortable and can easily find your way around. Conclusion A large, modern supermarket with a top-notch selection, fair prices, and exceptional cleanliness. A well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars, highly recommended.

From the start, the first time we walked into our new house there was a lot of dirt everywhere. It was like animals lived there. There were leaves and mud on the hallway, big and disgusting stains on one of the mattresses, grind in the kitchen and cupboards and dust everywhere. When we complained about that and the fact that they promised a professional clean would be done before we moved in they said that there was nothing they could do because the previous tenants moved out the day before. They said a cleaning team would be sent that afternoon. They never showed up. The next evening we had to leave for a month and when we came back the house was almost the same. Only the bathrooms and the kitchen had been superficially cleaned. We had a RAT in our house for OVER TWO MONTHS and they did nothing about it despite our constant reminders and complaints. They were initially very surprised to hear that, but when a contractor finally came to patch the hole the rat made in the living room floor he told us that he came two years ago to patch it as well. Also, our fridge got broken and they only replaced it a month and a half later. Before replacing it, they came two times to see what the problem was. Each time they said that the fridge is not broken and that we forgot to plug it in. Because keeping a broken fridge (that turns on but does not cool at all) plugged the whole time makes a lot of sense. Why not let it consume electricity for nothing? It's not like we're paying bills or anything... For all of these issues, we've never gotten any compensation, not even a 'sorry' or the tiniest bit of compassion.

We would love to hear your feedback which you can send to southampton@kingsestates.net on what you felt was not up to standard and how you feel the service could have been better. Not as good as it used to be. Layout is odd now and got locked in disabled toilet due to handle defect. 10 minutes to be released. No apologies, just "oh the handle is broken". And I had a grumpy cashier.

Agent Jade is the best one on that team, she is professional and always meets tenants on time, considering the benefits of both landlords and tenants. But I can not say any good words to other staff, as they always eat their words, but we are so lucky we have all emails recorded as proof. If necessary, we are prepared to look for some legal aid to protest ourselves. And we will never find this company anymore.
