New home

What was an extremely emotionally challenging time, My Future Living came to our rescue. Dan Anderson was fantastic and Conor was great. The communication throughout was dealt with sensitivity, which put us at ease. They were patient and listened and helped us in securing our perfect home in our favourite neighbourhood. Dan was/is always available to answer our questions, provided guidance and negotiated on our behalf. We are so so grateful for their expertise professionalism and support and we can't recommend them highly enough.

Bad customer service

We have been tenants in one of their properties for 14 months and never missed a payment or asked for anything until 6 months ago when new parts where put.on the lift. The lift is on the other side of our bedroom wall and is being used up to 2am and starts being used about about 6am so we are averaging 4 hours sleep a night. This was reported and firstly the lift engineer came out and said there was nothing they could do as it was a old lift, the housing manager stood in the corridor outside our flat and said it wasn't that noisy but didn't come in flat.

Sharon · 17 August 2026

Agent replied · 24 September 2026

Hi Sharon, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear how disruptive the lift noise feels from your home, and we understand how difficult disturbed sleep can be. We do want to clarify that the lift and all associated machinery are owned, managed and maintained by FirstPort, the building’s freeholder and managing agent. Although this equipment is not under My Future Living’s control, we have still taken every reasonable step to support you. Since you first raised your concerns, we have: • arranged multiple inspections by FirstPort’s qualified lift engineers • arranged visits from FirstPort’s Regional Property Manager • obtained two independent quotations for potential soundproofing • offered to arrange an independent third party inspection of your home • asked for diary logs and Environmental Health input so we can escalate appropriately All inspections to date have confirmed that the lift is operating normally and without excessive or unusual noise. Because the lift is not our asset, we cannot authorise structural works without independent evidence confirming that the lift is the source of noise nuisance. Once we receive confirmation from Environmental Health or another independent authority, we will be able to review the next steps and work with FirstPort accordingly. Once again, we do appreciate how distressing this situation is, and although the lift is not under our ownership or control, we remain committed to supporting you and helping to move this forward. If you would like us to arrange the independent inspection, please contact the Property Team., My Future Living

I live in HOMELACE HOUSE, HONITON, DEVON where I rent a one bedroom flat from MY FUTURE LIVING. Intruders have entered my property on several occasions in the last few months. I have evidence to support this. The entries are unforced which means the only way intruders can enter my flat is by using a master key. I am in complete control of my own keys. My Future Living changed my lock but within two weeks the intruders had entered again which only emphasises the fact that they must have a master key and that My Future Living have a huge security issue. Several times I have asked the managing director of My Future Living for a guarantee the intruders cannot enter my flat using a master key but they have refused to give me that guarantee which is very strange because if you read their advertised TENANCY GUIDE they proudly boast the following which are excerpts from it. “Our aim at all times is to ensure our tenants feel safe, secure and confident living in their new home and enjoy all the flexibility and freedom that comes with renting in retirement.” AND “Our customers’ welfare is our number one priority; and their safety, security and well-being are the most important aspect of our business”. In view of those excerpts I have to ask the managing director of My Future Living once again: CAN YOU PLEASE GUARANTEE ME THAT INTRUDERS CANNOT ENTER MY FLAT USING A MASTER KEY. It is simply a YES or NO. I have to ask the managing director of My Future Living once again: CAN YOU PLEASE GUARANTEE ME THAT INTRUDERS CANNOT ENTER MY FLAT USING A MASTER KEY. It is simply a YES or NO. Where is my simple YES or NO My Future Living. Step up MFL, where is my guarantee. What does that say about MFL if they cannot provide a YES answer. It surely must reflect some incompetence. Why can’t they guarantee my safety and security. As far as I am concerned, those statements from their Tenancy Guide have not been adhered to. FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I COULD NOT POSSIBLY RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO RENT FROM “MY FUTURE LIVING.” Why on earth do I need internal security cameras. My system that detects illegal entry is excellent. During a recent visit to my flat by the MFL Managing Director and the MFL Tenant Welfare Co-ordinator. The detection system was demonstrated to both of them and they fully understood how it works and made no detrimental comments about it. YOUR REPLY. In your reply I notice that you mention cameras again. Cameras have nothing to do with the problem and are being used as smoke screen by My Future Living (MFL) to cover up their serious lack of control over their Master Keys. Why should I need cameras in the first place? It is because intruders are entering my flat. If MFL are confident about the security of their Master Keys, why is it that they refuse to give an absolute and categoric guarantee that intruders cannot enter my flat using a master key. I rent my flat from MFL and therefore MFL are responsible for ALL KEYS that allow access into my flat regardless of where they are kept and if third parties hold them. FOR THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF MFL. Once again I will ask the question. It only requires a YES or NO answer. CAN YOU GUARANTEE ME , and all of your other residents for that matter, THAT INTRUDERS CANNOT, AT ANY TIME, ENTER MY FLAT USING MASTER KEYS? There is something seriously wrong with MFL’s security if they cannot give a YES answer to that question. For a company that rents apartments to older people there surely can only be one answer. WHERE IS MY HONEST GUARANTEE MFL. Is it because MFL do not have complete and utter control over their Master Keys. If you cannot give that guarantee MFL, then a full explanation is required and it should be mentioned openly in your Tenancy Guide to make all customers aware.

David · 17 April 2025

Agent replied · 10 January 2025

Mr Gill, My Future Living are a leaseholder at the development and at no point have been responsible for or held any master keys. This has been communicated on many many occasions. The offer to change to unsuited locks at MFL’s cost has been made to you, which to date you have refused. The offer of cameras was made to evidence that there were no intruders entering your property which you have refused twice. Again, we state that we have tried very hard over the years you have lived at the development to respond to and manage your issues. We are willing to release you from your tenancy at your earliest convenience. We can guarantee that no intruders are entering your flat due to any failure by My Future Living. We have explained this to you on many occasions.

My parents rented from MFL.luckily…

My parents rented from MFL.luckily moved out before the ridiculous rent rise ..I looked recently and in 3 years the flat they rented had gone from 650 to 975 disgusting. The carpets were awful mom was scared to put up pictures as they expected her to make the walls right after . We left curtain in one room as awkward size window and they wanted to charge for leaving them so I asked for them back reply being they had disposed of them as they dont leave curtains picture of flat before we had clearly had curtains at the window ! Ripping off pensioners they should be ashamed of themselves .

We are sorry to hear that your parents’ experience did not meet expectations. At My Future Living, we are committed to providing well‑managed retirement properties, transparent processes, and a consistent standard of service for all residents. We take concerns relating to rent reviews, property condition, and end‑of‑tenancy procedures seriously, and we regret that this was not reflected in your family’s experience. As we are unable to discuss individual tenancy matters publicly, we would welcome the opportunity to review this in more detail. If you are willing, please contact our team at enquirues@myfutureliving.co.uk so we can investigate the points you have raised and provide a full response. My Future Living

Alexandra and Daniel were very efficient

Alexandra and Daniel were very efficient and helpful regarding the tenancy process, which went very smoothly. There were some problems with the keys to the property and we had to get new keys cut but I don't believe that any of these issues were down to My Future Living; it seems that they were down to the local management of the property. It seems that this was exacerbated by the local property manager changing at that time.

Yearly rent increases are to much

What has gone wrong over time is that my future living which markets to older persons mostly of retirement age seems to think that the group of people have endless resource.since I moved into my little flat in 2022 I have had a rent increase every year. Just got my letter fo this year.and each year they say the same thing increased costs and my tenancy agreement allows them to increase the rent. We'll each year every businessn passes on their increased costs to the customer and unfortunately my income has not increased accordingly. Also the fact your contract allows something does not mean you have to every year enact hat clause. My future if i stay with my future living is likely to be extreme impoverishment maybe homelessness.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We’re very sorry to hear how worried you’re feeling about the impact of rent increases, and we understand that rising living costs can be especially challenging on a fixed or limited income. Annual rent reviews are a standard practice and are outlined within the tenancy agreement. These reviews reflect increased costs associated with maintaining and managing our properties, and we aim to keep any increases as fair and reasonable as possible. That said, we never want residents to feel unsupported. If you are experiencing financial hardship or are concerned about affordability, we strongly encourage you to contact our team directly. We’re always happy to discuss individual circumstances in confidence and explore what support or guidance may be available. Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate you raising these concerns.

Cant get past their ridiculous referencing despite our income and credit rating being good..being

We have looked at a number of their properties. For one, we were told 'the directors' have decided on someone else. This was after two days. The next one we were surprised to recieve an email next day asking for a holding deposit. Then came requests for proofs, which is normal. Instead of just one with full details, they came drip-drip one at a time. After giving our notice where we now live, a day later an email said 'don't book your removal firm until you get a definite yes from us.'

Derek · 18 November 2025

Agent replied · 24 December 2025

Dear Derek Metson, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the application process felt frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify what happened. When you applied for one of our properties, the holding deposit request included full details of the documents required, including three months of itemised bank statements. These requirements are set out in advance so applicants can make an informed decision before proceeding, and paying the holding deposit does not secure the tenancy, it begins the formal application and referencing process. We understand that obtaining the statements proved difficult, and we did our best to guide you through the alternatives available. Unfortunately, without the required documentation, we were unable to complete the referencing checks needed to progress your application. You subsequently confirmed that you wished to withdraw. We are sorry that this experience has caused you stress, particularly around your notice period, and we appreciate that moving home can be a challenging time. We always aim to be clear and consistent in our processes, which are in place to ensure fairness and compliance for all applicants. If you would like to discuss this further or need clarification on any part of the process, we are happy to speak with you directly.

My Future Living has made my retirement dream a reality

I had been looking for residential accommodation during the early summer 2023. I found 2 rental properties offered by My Future Living. After an online enquiry, I was contacted by Alexandra Hyslop from the lettings department. Alexandra explained the procedure, arranged viewings of both properties. Once I decided which property I wanted to rent, the process towards occupying the property was taken up by Samantha Henderson from the tenancy department. Alexandra and Samantha were throughly professional, providing great customer service. Their attention to detail was superb. One of the great things about My Future Living, is that correspondence only happens when necessary. Emails or telephone calls only happen when something palatable can be discussed. You may wait for an update or a reply to your email. The response will not be one, that will just keep you satisfied or interested. It will be relevant to your query or application. I have been resident at my rental property now for almost 4 months. I have had a chance to report the odd issue, which was responded to promptly by the appropriate department. Other than that, there have no issues within my property. I am enjoying my stay and thank the staff at My Future Living for making my dream of comfortable retirement living, become a reality.

A Good Move!

We were apprehensive about renting and moving to a retirement flat, but we needn’t have worried - My Future Living made the process very simple. Alex and Daniel were both extremely friendly, helpful and courteous and answered all our queries quickly and efficiently. When we moved into the flat we didn’t have any hot water, but after phoning My Future Living, an engineer arrived the next morning and sorted out the problem. The boiler is now working perfectly, but we’ve recently heard that because it’s over 20 years old, a new boiler is to be installed next week. We feel very reassured and impressed by the service which we have received. We’ve settled in well at Brampton Court in Chichester and are now looking forward to many happy years in our new home. Many thanks to everyone at My Future Living.Rosemary and Colin Priest

Absolute shambles of a company

Absolute shambles of a company, my family member has had to live in a very damp apartment with a water leak for over 6 weeks and no heating or hot water and not even a toilet that can flush, 6 work men have been round on various occasions to assess the damage and the 7th one finally found the leak, a lot of new furniture was damaged by the mould it has caused and the heath of my family member has deteriorated quite drastically due to all of this damp and no heating conditions, it’s a true shambles of a company that is only interested in the money they get rather than the welfare of their residents, avoid if possible and you will not regret it,

Agent replied · 24 September 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Christopher. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience left you feeling upset, especially after travelling such a long distance to view the property. We would like to address your concerns and provide some clarity around the process. Our independent living properties are often in high demand, and it is standard practice for us to continue viewings until an applicant has formally confirmed their interest and provided the basic information required for us to submit an application to the landlord. This is not intended to pressure anyone, but simply ensures fairness for all prospective tenants. We understand that you were travelling and may not have had immediate access to your phone. The follow up questions you received are part of our normal referencing procedure and are required before we can progress an application. We are sorry if the timing of this communication felt abrupt or caused you distress, that was certainly not our intention. We also want to reassure you that we value all customers equally, and we are very sorry that you felt disrespected. Our team aims to support older people in finding safe, comfortable homes, and we regret that your experience did not reflect the level of care we strive to provide. We appreciate your feedback and will review our communication approach to ensure it remains clear, supportive, and sensitive to individual circumstances. If you would like to discuss your experience further, we would be happy to speak with you directly.

Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
