Worst council ever

Worst council ever. I've been on housing list for over 8yrs. I lived in sheffeild (not a council home) I was atacked asalted. Racist. (am a white male 64) Police involved. Council wouldn't help me move in anyway. I moved out of sheffeild I still am. I was scared harassed threatend.followed ect. Moved away from sheffield health care friends.family.. .Now I carnt bid for over 8months council carnt tell me why and unhelpful been down to council I can never get to speak to anybody. The place is hell on earth most are not English or speak English. But seen and get homes. Am disabled ill ex army I need a carer so they put me on band D. Lowest band. Shame on you sheffeild council. It's curupt unfair dishonest and no doubt trust pilot won't allow this truth to be shown. Am a 2nd class disableld citizen in my own country This is so wrong political it's a scandle. Why is this allowed to happen. If I was a person of colour this wouldn't be allowed or happen. A disgrace. This prob happens alot to people like me. Uncaring sheffeild council

Adeola Is The Most Competent Staff In Repairs/Maintenance

Sheffield City Council Repairs/Maintenance department have greatly improved this year. Adeola is their most competent staff whom I have encountered. She takes her time to listen, solve your problem and is very patient and polite. I like to give people their flowers when deserved, so I am giving Sheffield City Council 5 stars for this great improvement. 👍🏾

What is the point of having housing officers and health and safety officers

What is the point of having housing officers . When i signed for this property they said they would look into my queries of repairs yet a year and half on they now wont do them . They don't turn up for reviews or meetings . They don't ring back when they say they will . If you have issues they say they will look into it and you hear nothing back . You make official complaints through their complaints procedure and still nothing . Maintenence guys report repairs still nothing .supposed to have a duty of care to their tenants when they definitely don't and this leaves you feeling isolated and alone . What do we pay rent for ????

Evidence discarded and ignored. Threat of arson just ignored by authority.

We were attacked just outside our own property because we decided to video record a someone who threaten to set our house on fire, basically arson. we asked few questions about their intention and the drunk and disorderly neighbour who could not handle his drink, begun physical assualt and property damage (smacking my phone off my hand 8 times). If it's sunny and my neighbour drinks you can count on Islamophobic and racial comments something very commen around here, also this was confirmed by the 101 operator who said "unfortunately we get alot of these phine calls during hot summer days when people drink" so i replied "so is ok for people to drink and become racist/Islamophobic biggots?". The operator seemed ashamed and condemned the actions of the biggots but nothing materilised. I kid you not even with clear footages from multiple witnesses, there was no action taken. This has been ongoing since 2024. We have informed sheffield city council and south yorkshire police both took no action so far. Even though there is over 12 separate clips, 3 different cctv. There is no justice here in Sheffield the council and the south Yorkshire police are both ineffective against clear racism and Islamophobic remarks and laughing about direct threat to burn my family home by Mr Woodward. Just ignored by the authorities completely.

Council Tax Office staff...if I could…

Council Tax Office staff...if I could give less than 1 star i would. My father died and while sorting the property out I was given 2 exemption certificates by SCC to take it upto the sale of the property they were informed.of probate yet they since jan this year have hounded me for an outstanding debt apparently for council tax. No compassion and no accountability on their side that they sent out a second exemption certificate in error. I have since lost my job monies from my dads estate went to pay other bills on him home and then dispersed as we believed all debts had been paid. Have been threatened with court proceedings if I dont pay. Absolutely disgusting from SCC (the council tax is for £300) and their behaviour has been abhorrent.

I had a problem with my council tax which primarily was down too me I spoke on two occasions too a lady called Anna in the council tax contact dept who was fantastic she explained what I had done wrong and then sorted out my problem I won’t go into details but if wasn’t for this lovely lady my problem would have escalated just want too say Anna gets 5 stars from me

Criminal conglomerates

I moved into Sheffield a year ago. I have found sheffield council to be the worst Council Ive ever had the misfortune of having to comply with. The structure of the service is appalling. They make NO provision for how their system changes affect people in real time. They lack coherence when discussing simple issues. They have zero respect for the fact that they have an effect on peoples lives and livelihood. They show no consideration or compassion for the people they support (badly) then try to assert themselves and flex ego and power dynamics rather than professionalism and competency. They send you in circles and threaten you if you say that you will seek legal assistance after the fact that they have declined a basic duty of care. They clearly don't understand their duty of care. They fail in all areas of safeguarding. They take people who advocate for themselves as a threat and try to override you with bully boy tactics. Over all they are a toxic sham. Ill prioritized mess with very limited communication skills and a blatant agenda of their own that does NOT serve the community correctly, or efficiently. They definitely need an audit and investigation.

I received a PCN for allegedly parking on double yellow lines, but the markings at the location were either completely faded or not visible at all. There were no signs indicating any parking restrictions, and the condition of the road surface made it impossible to see any clear markings.

Poor approach to supporting artists and…

Poor approach to supporting artists and the arts. The classical music scene in Sheffield is a disaster, and all music events are super expensive. Sheffield owned City Hall prefers to charge around 30% fees on top of ticket prices (most of which I presume goes to Ticketmaster and definitely not to the artists). I presume most of the pre-ticket price doesn't go to the artists either. The audiences are consequently poor. I prefer to vote with my feet and go to events elsewhere given these rip-off fees. The Council has no right to misuse public buildings, assets and trust in this way.

HORRIBLE LANDLORD WHO IGNORE LETTERS

What a HORRIBLE landlord/council. They have victimised me since 2011 when the Ombudsman found in MY favour and got me £150 compensation. This was because the council left me without water from 22-31 DEC 2011 when they WOULDN'T fix my burst pipes. Ive had problems with the council EVER since this compensnation was awarded. They ignore ALL my letters and haven't got the slightest interest in their LEGAL ogligations as a landlord. TWO ISSUES NEED HELP WITH: 1) Last year an elderly VERY nosy, next-door neighbour had the audacity to put a letter through my door when he saw I'd dug holes for fence posts. He then objected to a fence & accused me of being anti-social because I want privacy. The cheek of it, eh? He then arrogantly said that if I DID erect a fence, it MUST be high standard! Who does this guy think he is??!! He "hides" behind his old-age and relies on people's compassion to let him get away with provoking. He is well known for his arrogance & mouthing off. The council WILL NOT warn this neighbour about his behaviour.2) I had letters "supposedly" from HEC CONTRACTING LTD asking for access to my property for survey/inspection. I googled the phone number & was shown as a SPAM number. Someone also said they are PRETENDING to be working for the council. I sent a copy of the letters to the council and asked for confirmation if they ARE genuine letters from HEC Contracting LTD. The council WILL NOT reply. So, I WILL NOT allow access. That is MY legal right to avoid being scammed by criminals trying to con their way into my property. You would think that Sheffield council would encourage caution of this nature. After all, if it IS a con and these "SUPPOSED" contractors cause damage to MY property, the council will blame ME. Also, I NEVER accept letters that say "THE OCCUPIER" especially when wanting access. So, subsequent letters were NOT opened & marked as REFUSED. These are TWO issues the council will NOT help me with. As regards my neighbour, I am doing my best to avoid him, but now I've erected a fence, he has taken it upon himself to keep walking past my LOWER fence next to the public footpath to ensure he can STILL watch me (but I can't afford to buy ANOTHER fence to make THIS higher). He ESPECIALLY does this if he knows I'm "IN" my garden. It's pure provocation to try to get a "reaction" from me for erecting afence. Whereas, this wouldn't be happening if the council had done their job and warned him to keep away from me and keep his nose out of my life. So, it proved pointless erecting a fence. So I just stay INSIDE most of the time & live like a prisoner fearful of what will happen he DOES get a "reaction" from me. After all, I am much younger than him & am NOT at any risk. But my Civil Liberties ARE! So, I stay INSIDE with my curtains closed. Fair. eh? It's also difficult to exchange as I was showing a "viewee" my garden, so my nosy neighbour decided to walk past and put the mockers on it for me. The council SHOULD issue warnings to people like this. These anti-social, nosy people CAN destroy lives. But the council DO NOT care! Over a year ago) Aug 13 2022 I made the council aware of this when I HAND-delivered a letter to Town Hall. I also posted letters. But NEVER got a reply. Also, never received a reply regarding my OTHER issue of a contractor "CLAIMING" they are working on behalf of the council. All I ask for is confirmation if it IS genuine. After all, we HAVE to protect ourselves against criminals trying to CON their way in. But council WON'T tell me if it's genuine. They DON'T care. What a HORRIBLE council. I give minus 1000000 stars. Not the obligatory ONE star!

I have been trying to change my council tax band for months. Sheffield council are obviously trying the best to disaude me. I have sent details of properties near me as requested to no avail. They have sent a phone number they say I need to use, I have tried twice with the same message that' they can't help' I have asked to speak to someone but to no avail. I believe they think if they continue in this vain I will give up. Is this the way to treat a customer.

LET NEIGHBOURS RUIN YOUR LIFE

Most people know what a dishonest landlord Sheffield council are. I’ve been victimised since 2011 when I got compensation via the Ombudsman when the council left me with BURST pipes and NO water for almost 2 weeks during the Arctic winter of 2010. Since then, they ignore ALL my letters (even HAND-delivered ones). But, onto my CURRENT problem which I’ve had since 2019.I have pensioners next door. They’ve woken me up HUNDREDS-AND HUNDREDS of times since 2019 morning, noon and night. BOTH are very arrogant and SO nosey. Nobody will exchange with me as as soon as they “view” my bungalow, these weird people are “WATCHING” which deters people. HE has a fixation with watching me. I even caught him very WEIRDLY spying on me through the fence at the bottom of my garden in 2019 shortly AFTER I moved in. So decided to save up for fencing to keep these horrible neighbours at bay. I EVEN had to put EXTRA lace curtains up to stop them looking through my room window. Infact, I RARELY open my curtains AT ALL now. In late June 2022 I dug (without ANYONE knowing) 6 fence post holes.Two weeks later when HE “realised” I'd DUG these he put an arrogant letter through my door VERY late at night on 11 JULY 2022 and accused me of disrupting his sleep patterns (A LIE) and said that the MEASLY 3 foot fence is “adequate” (yes, he waited TWO weeks to complain to get “BACK” at me for digging the fence post holes (WITHOUT his knowledge!). Who is HE to say what is ADEQUATE? When I read the letter I flew into the worst rage of my life and I openly admit to shouting and swearing and slamming my doors and banging on the wall. The anger HAD to come out some how. My mental health is VERY fragile and I HAVE to keep myself away from stressful situations. But it's impossible with him. I WILL NOT be dicated to.He "THINKS" he is the BOSS. And, yet, he has the SAME-SIZE fence between "HIM" and "HIS" neighbours (TOPSIDE) him and he has around 12 foot hedge towering OVER his fence! The problem is, he wants “HIS” privacy from “THEM”. But objects to “MY” wanting privacy from “HIM”.I CANNOT use my garden, not even the washing line - as I’m ALWAYS being “WATCHED” and “PROVOKED”. I CANNOT even cut my grass. No I’m NOT at risk, but my Civil Liberties ARE if I turn nasty as it COULD get me arrested. So, I “HIDE” away like a prisoner and can’t even put ANY washing out whilst THEY have "FREE-REIGN". So, my hygiene standards are VERY low due to these people and I wear dirty clothes masked by body spray to help keep smell at bay. Or I throw them away and “HOPE” I’ll see some cheap ones in a charity shop. It's an AWFUL way to live!On 13 August 2022 I HAND-delivered a letter (TO SHEFFIELD COUNCIL AT TOWN HALL SHEFFIELD) asking for help and ENCLOSED a copy of my neighbour’s ARROGANT and PROVOCATIVE letter which EVEN said “IF YOU “DO” PUT UP A FENCE, IT “MUST” BE HIGH STANDARD). See what I mean about dictatorial and "THINKING" he's the BOSS? Then I sent ANOTHER identical letter about 20 minutes later by RECORDED-delivery to TOWN HALL in SHEFFIELD as a safeguard (I have a post office receipt as PROOF). Firstly I wanted “OFFICIAL” permission from council for me to fit my fence to get much-needed privacy. SECONDLY, I wanted “WARNINGS” given to these horrible pensioners to keep OUT of my life. It is NOW February 12th 2023 and have since involved the Housing Ombudsman due to council ignoring my letters. But EVEN the Housing Ombudsman won’t NOW reply despite an acknowledgement saying they will contact me in 10 days. That was around a month ago! I am late-50s and am TRAPPED here as the council WON’T let me bid for OTHER bungalows despite the fact they will be getting “BACK” MY bungalow. As I say, I CANNOT exchange as no one wants to live next to these NOSEY neighbours. I have been on ESA for Stress, Anxiety and Depression for quite a few years and am SO poorly due to the way I live. These neighbours next door have made my conditions WORSE-THAN-EVER but the council DON’T care about my health OR anti-social neighbours who DESTROY your life. My life IS intolerable. So, in effect, the council has given “licence” to NOSEY anti-social neighbours to “RULE” and “RUIN someone’s life. MY health and well-being means NOTHING to Sheffield council. I am a PRISONER not even daring to venture into my garden. Yes, pensioners (who “hide” behind their age) “CAN” be worse than young people. I even have to check that they are NOT around when I go shopping as he sometimes creeps up behind me and provokes me when he knows I hate him and want NOTHING to do with him. I just ignore him and he walks off mumbling. AWFUL council and neighbours to match! NEVER move into a Sheffield council property is MY advice. You have my PERMISSION to share this feedback WHERVER you wish. Please do it BEFORE Sheffield city council try to get it removed. THANKS. EVERYTHING in this feedback is 100% TRUE.

Sheffield CC Corruption

Sheffield Council are extremely corrupt. Paul Wood at the head of disrepairs who withholds government fundings for himself and his own area and the rest of the useless councillors. MPs literally do nothing Gill Furniss is the worst parasite getting over £80,000 a year to be useless, only there to feather her own nest, SCC are very unpleasant and unprofessional, confidentiality isn't in their vocabulary.They shared personal information with my neighbor their employee causing myself and family to get violently threatened and harassed purely to cover up corruption within the departments.They also have the corrupt police at their disposal who threatened me with bogus charges so I'd stay quiet. I had to move for my own safety as ASB shared my details forewarning their violent/racist employee that I was recording the harassment as evidence. Paul Wood did his best to make sure I didn't get any support or get any repairs done so I had to get a solicitor. I would advise anyone to do the same if experiencing similar problems but make sure the solicitor isn't from Sheffield as the council also have influence over them.

Gave SCC one star only because there isnt a zero.Phoned SCC at end of March as I had changed my bank details.Took 1 1/2 hours to speak to what appeared to be a competent person. He took all the relevant details and told me my direct debit was all set up to go with the next payment at a slightly later date. All is well... until I received a UNPAID DIRECT DEBIT NOTIFICATION stating the D/D had been recalled. I can only assume the guy I spoke to was too busy playing candy crush on his phone rather than paying attention to what I was saying. Phoned again, 11th in queue, got to 1st in queue after exactly 2 hours only to be cut off.Today I received a text AND automated call from SCC threatening legal action. Phoned Council Tax Department at 2.13pm, extension 2, sorry all our operators are busy and the lines are now closed. Call back later. Tried again on extension 5, sorry all our operators blah blah blah. This council are treating people with more disrespect than Boris Johnson. It should change its name from SCC to SDC, the Sheffield deaf council.

council rents personal review.

I have found out that the housing rents department had applied to the dwp to ask them to pay £342.36p out of my universal credit of £669.36p without first contacting me as i have struggled on both jsa and now uni credit i have too now decide same as before on who to pay and who not to pay.In my view the sheffield city council only cares about getting re-elected and allowing expensieve flats/apartments to be built too those who can afford the rent instead of helping people on low incomes survive and to help people who live on the streets in sheffield into accomadation repair houses on glossop road for this purpose and the same with the old park hill flats that are derilict.I was lucky to be a volunteer at the arches project and heard some truly heartbreaking stories from some of the clients in there.This council is not like the one i remember growing up in the late 1960,s and late 1970,s/80,s.we as sheffield citizens should stand up too the council and say enough is enough.

Impossible to deal with.

As I write this I’ve been queuing on the phone for an hour and a half trying to sort out council tax. We emailed the council over 2 weeks ago explaining the fact that one of us was a student and we need the single persons discount. They ignored the email and sent out the council tax as it stood. I set up a standing order/direct debit to pay it anyway in the hope it would get resolved anyway and payments down the line would be amended. Nothing has been taken via direct debit or standing order and we’ve had no response to any enquiries.

I live on Prince of Wales Road sheffield I rang the council to inform them there are rats around this area they just said they could not do anything about it and the women I spoke to said I am ending this call. Everyone in sheffield should refuse to pay council tax. I don't know what they do with the council tax they definitely don't spend it on this city. The big wigs in the council probably spend it on so called business dinners
