GoogleHad a very good experience with igloo. Very easy to use in terms of finding a property and by far the cheapest I could find. They were easy to contact whenever we needed anything and always came out and tried to help us with whatever our issues were. Have chosen to use these for the second time as I was very pleased with the service provided by igloo and their friendly staff!

GoogleAvoid at all costs, staff are rude and unhelpful (even in replies to these reviews you can see how unprofessional they are). I've rented student accomodation in Sheffield for years now and this company is the worst of the lot. A few things i experienced while renting with them:
- severe black mould was just painted over by landlord (with regular paint)
- waste pipe came detached from outside wall and they tried to blame us for it because there was a grain of rice in the leaking puddle (sadly not kidding). They actually threatened my deposit over this even though it was absolutely not our responsibility.
-only toilet in the house broke and they said they'd send someone out urgently but no-one came for 3 days (couldn't flush toilet at all for this time, and i contacted them about it more than once)
- never gave 24h notice for viewings or maintenance (illegal) so you'd have random dudes walking around your house unexpectedly
- staff who show you the properties have no idea what comes with the house and what doesn't and are generally clueless
- tried to charge us more for a 'spare room' that was more like a crack den, literally just a dirty mattress on the floor
-tried to claim out entire deposits due to things that were in that condition when we moved in (they didn't provide inventories either)
- someone mentioned this below but they absolutely do flytip unwanted furniture, i witnessed the same thing a few weeks after moving out
Overall 0/10 do not recommend

FacebookADVICE TO STUDENTS
AVOID IGLOO IF POSSIBLE
READ ALL
I have delayed writing this review until the dispute between myself and the agency was finalised but I urge students to avoid letting a house with Igloo if you can.
We had multiple, relatively small (still unacceptable) problems throughout our tenancy which I will list in a moment. These prompted me to read reviews and I saw lots of negative ones although it was too late by then. Our issues included:
- a leaking outside pipe
- Damp smell from day 1
- Damp causing mould on our belongings (which I was told could be resolved by opening a window despite the fact the room was on the ground floor, at the front of the house and on a rough street)
- A mouldy fridge (on the back)
- Cracks in the walls
- Dirty washing machine on arrival, again, with a damp smell (which I was also tasked to solve myself)
- Workmen/staff entering the house without 24 hour warning (breaching contract)
- And probably many more that escape me
All of the above issues were reported to Igloo at some point over the course of our tenancy and many of which Igloo didn’t want to resolve without serious encouragement or never got resolved at all. However none of these are the main issue to us.
One of us was accused of not posting our keys upon our departure of the house and we were therefore charged £145 of our deposit for new locks and keys. This was a lie. The keys were posted and the staff were very suspicious and strange on any phone calls regarding this. Conveniently, the locks were not in the best condition so charging tenants would make the inevitable replacement of these much cheaper for them.
I don’t think we will be the first or last students who Igloo force to pay their invoices so please be warned. Especially after a tough year for all businesses financially.
We did dispute this with the DPS and, of course, they sided with Igloo despite them submitting 2 pieces of evidence and us submitting 5. The DPS also misspelled a tenant’s name on the document and incorrectly labelled one of our pieces of evidence as “undated”.
Luckily, all of the housemates got along and what was remaining of the deposit was split. However if this wasn’t the case, one tenant would’ve been left with £5 of their deposit, in the middle of a pandemic that has caused financial worries for everyone. All for a lie.
ADVICE
Take photos and videos of EVERYTHING throughout your tenancy.

GoogleAVOID AVOID AVOID!
Any freshers thinking of using their services should do exactly that! They will try scam you for everything they can. It’s a company that takes advantage of first time buyers and students not having the knowledge to understand what they’re getting themselves into. Make sure you read every bit of your contract and take photos of absolutely everything!
Staff can be rude and obnoxious and will try steer you in a direction they want you to go.

GoogleMy daughters accommodation with igloo has just had its locks picked and one member of the house confronted by a unknown male . Igloo have bent over backwards to do nothing . It’s turns out that 2 security gates leading to the property are broken , the main door is not FSA rated and they refuse to put locks on individual bedrooms , their lack of concern for their tenants safety is lousy .
The street they live on has many groups of ‘non student ‘ men hanging around so now a cctv will have to be installed .
Igloo your reviews ‘must do better’

GoogleMy experience with igloo accommodation has been absolutely shocking.
They will do absolutely next to nothing if it means they need to spend money.
They wanted to come round and take 'marketing shots' for their website but hadn't even asked us if we were staying or whether we felt okay with our things being posted on the internet. The email was very vague and just said 'don't worry if no one is in we have a key.' This is wrong! They didn't even provide us with a time slot (after we requested one) for us to know when they would be entering the flat!
We have had a number of issues with damp, which they claim isn't, but we have photos and it smells awful!
100% would not recommend to rent with them.
Pay through the eye of a needle for rent and they don't even respond to issues that you have they will try everything they can to turn the blame around!

GoogleOkay so just a pre warning for students, take photos of everything! These guys will lay blame or even frame you for actions you did not do. (A little bit of context) I left my flat spotless after finishing my second year of uni and 2 months later was alerted to a fine saying my mattress was poorly damaged/stained. I knew this was a complete lie as my TWO mattress protectors that had not been removed all year were completely spotless. However this would not had been enough evidence to support my case. Additionally during our house viewing they kept the fact we would be paying for our washing very quite, right up until move in day where we discovered it was 4-5 pound per wash which is something we had to deal with the rest of he year causing poor relations. I should have guessed something like this would happen the moment I walked into the agency having just seen a very angry family leave telling us to do the same and that we were making a mistake (they were 100% correct).

GoogleOne of the other people to leave a review for Igloo here, is my friend and flatmate Shea Turvey. His review states the entire messed up situation as it is. Igloo have accused myself and Shea of staining the mattresses in our bedrooms. We're both the unfortunate victims of not having taken enough pictures and as such we are now stuck in a dispute over £200. £100 each for two sub standard mattresses and apparently we are being done a service in only being asked for £100 each, as they supposedly cost £150 each and we're just fortunate that one of the mattresses is three years old.
Igloo provided me with a mattress protector to which I placed on my bed on moving in day, July 1st 2018. I have a picture of the protector on my bed at 17:49 that day, and I can assure you that the protector remained on my bed throughout the entire tenancy and I never flipped the mattress either because I had no reason to. I'd like to add we are friends with the five people who lived in the flat above us and one of them has also been accused of staining his mattress too...
Now I went to the utmost length to ensure that our flat was spotless. Myself and my parents spent five hours straight cleaning the entire kitchen/living room area, cleaning the ovens, hobs, counters, fridge, cupboards, tables etc... The bathrooms and all the bedrooms were emptied and thoroughly cleaned, I'd guarantee more so than your regular students would bother with because we actually cared and naturally wanted our deposits back.
Where do I even begin when talking about the sheer incompetence of Igloo, when not wrongly being accused of staining mattresses, we've had a maintenance worker enter one of my flatmate's bedrooms which was locked and upon leaving, the door was left unlocked, entirely invalidating the insurance. I was in contact with Igloo on at least three occasions to ask for a maintenance worker to come to our flat and fix issues in the flat. One of the few times we had a maintenance worker in the flat was just because it was chance and he didn't come because I had requested him. I told him about issues which I have photo evidence of, ranging from the screws in my bed frame (the irony being the bed) being loose and the cheap wood of the bed frame not being properly connected. The cheap wood wardrobe and bedside table draws literally damaged with chunks missing and they didn't slot in properly. One of the rods used to twist open my blinds was snapped in half and upon entering my room for the first time seeing that the cord you use to pull the blinds up, the end of that was literally stuck inside the radiator and my flatmate had to help me pull it out. The skirting panels under the cupboards in the kitchen would literally fall over if you stood near them, they were damaged and could not properly be attached. Continuing on about cheap wood, the cheap wood kitchen table had two sides that extended out, one of those sides was broken.
Do you know what I was told? "They're only minor issues aren't they?" Yes, yes they are minor issues but issues none the less which Igloo had a responsibility to fix, not one of those issues was fixed and I was ignored. Shea's ceiling had bathroom water dripping through too from the flat upstairs and we had to place a bucket in his room to stop further damage, only because of the gravity of the situation was that resolved.
We were told nothing about charges connected to the washing and drying of our clothes which basically cost us £5 combined every time. We paid an extra £1.50 a week for "Superfast" connection speeds and it took them over two weeks to install it, we were charged for it none the less during this time. Added to that, it was still awful and we had to get wired connections just to get anything remotely decent, still not close to the advertised speeds.
If there is a lesson to be learnt, it is that you should take lots of pictures of everything in your accommodation. Igloo are absolutely useless, horrible and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. We can only try and win this dispute from this detestable agency.

GoogleI've lived with Igloo for over a year now and never had a problem with them. Any issues we ever had with the house were easy to report, and always dealt with within 24 hours! The staff are very friendly and informative, all the details are clearly outlined with no hidden costs, and our landlord was extremely helpful in any situations. We accidentally broke something and rather than charge us a fortune for it like many companies do, he just replaced it for us within a week as it was accidental! Would highly recommend Igloo for student accommodation, 5/5.

GoogleI've lived with Igloo for 2 years now and had the most amazing living experience!! I lived up on Ecclesall Road in two different houses with my friends from uni and each year was so easy, moving between the two houses was helped massively by Igloo and their staff, who answered questions and recommended some storage facilities that were cheap during the move!
We had a big problem with our washing machine in the first year where it wasn't draining properly, and one of the Igloo staff members came around to our house the same day - I think his name was Geoff - and had a look, before fixing it quickly without even charging us! They were so helpful and we would definitely have stayed again if we hadn't all gone our separate ways... I would certainly recommend Igloo and am writing this after driving past my old house and reminiscing of a great two years on Eccy Road!

GoogleThis company is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. If you are a student looking for somewhere to live do not go with igloo !!
The house was an absolute disgrace when we arrived and took all 4 tenants to completely clean the entire house before it was in a liveable condition. The staff were so useless as every time we rang up they had no idea what to do or say. Not to mention we got burgeled due to the locks on the doors being unsafe and unsecure and the reply we recieved off them was “what do you want me to do about it?” which I was absolutely appauled by as they should make their tenants safety a priority.
Once we left we cleaned the entire house and left it in a much better condition to how it was when we moved in, however had most of our deposit taken out for “cleaning”. I can guarentee that money would not be spent on cleaning if it was anything like it was when we moved in. They also tried to charge us £45 for broken desk chairs which were broken when we got there, and which we actually reported straight away as being broken but never got replaced.
This company clearly just tries to get as much money as possible off students to live in a below average house, bearing in mind students struggle with their finances enough as it is, having your housing constantly requesting money off you definietely doesnt help.
I would absolutely not reccomend this letting company to anyone with even average standards. If i could have moved half way through the year then I most definitely would have. The positive reviews on this have baffled me and I would never ever use this company again.

GoogleOne star is way more than this agency deserves!
Our landlord decided to change the accommodation agency just a few months before our contract expired and work with Igloo. Three people living in a three bedroom shared house, receiving 600 pounds every month for one year and couldn't fix a shower drain which kept on getting clogged. However, a couple of weeks before we left, he decided to buy a brand new leather sofa.
Moreover, somebody broke into our house, stole personal property of more than 1000 pounds and the former tenants' TV which now they claim is the landlord's and the agency refuses to give us back the full deposit. We received a 169 pound invoice for changing two locks and 6 keys. I find it outrageous and I really encourage everybody to think twice before renting a room/house with this agency. We all had a horrible experience, especially after somebody broke into our house and even after we moved out when the agency refuses to give us the deposit back based on nothing.

GoogleThis is by far the worst agency I have collaborated with. They consider students as charitable organizations. The lease looks like a menu at a restaurant. They have charges for anything you can imagine. It’s pathetic. They also charge you for smoking. They force you to provide a guarantor, and if you don’t have any you have to give them the whole amount of money without any discount. They don’t accept payments per month. Only quarterly.
Don’t be bothered to clean the house when you leave. They will find it dirty regardless of its condition. I spent 3 whole days in cleaning, plus money for liquids for the oven for the curtains etc. and transferring my stuff in my new place. Needless to comment on the cleanliness of the house when I moved in, especially the bathroom and the oven. They should have paid me for leaving the house at a better position that I found it.
They also charged us for a broken bed in a bedroom that we ‘ve never used, however, it was broken when I moved in.
I am a highly educated, serious, down to earth, very clean and tidy person and I have stayed at numerous places in this country including university dormitories, houses, flats from private landlords as well as agencies far more than 20 year old undergraduates who just moved outside of their parents place, and I never came across such an unscrupulous agency, so consider my review as 100% accurate and reliable.
I could have taken legal action, but unfortunately, this is the only country, contrary to the rest of the world, which protects the landlord, not the tenant.
Don't believe in any positive reviews. All positive reviews are from fake profiles of the owners.
Stay away from them unless you are desperate.

GoogleNot even worthy of one star.
Igloo are a dishonest, disrespectful and thoroughly inconsiderate and unprofessional company.
My daughter found herself in an uninhabitable damp room and Igloo with two 'independent' surveys refused to accept this. Needless to say when you deal with inherently dishonest people they are usually quite stupid - this proved to be the case so my own 5 min survey quickly showed the truth behind what was a thoroughly water logged floor.
Solicitors letters got our deposit and rent back and out of the contract, but from a personal moral standpoint quite how these people are willing to treat their customers and my daughter is simply inexcusable. Igloo and their staff have absolutely no respect for their tenants, caring only for their own pockets.
A typical human being with any kind of respect would just not behave in the way these people do and this kind of culture often comes from the top.
Also a particularly unprofessional individual was one Rachael - simply uninterested in a young lady's personal well being and staggeringly ineffective with it.
I recommend finding an alternative to Igloo before you too experience just what a thoroughly unpleasant company they are.
..failing that you have been warned and judging by these other reviews I'm not alone.
