GoogleDO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, RENT FROM IGLOO ACCOMMODATIONS.
This company is an absolute disgrace. I have never in my life dealt with a more incompetent, manipulative, and downright negligent group of people. What makes this even more insane is that I didn’t even end up living in one of their properties, and it was still one of the most infuriating, stressful experiences I’ve ever had.
My friend and I signed a tenancy agreement with Igloo for the 2025/26 academic year. A few weeks later, life threw us a curveball, me and my friend both dropped out of university. I hadn’t even submitted a guarantor yet, meaning my application wasn’t even complete. We reached out immediately, explained everything, and asked to be released. What did Igloo say? Basically: “Tough. Pay us £6,500 each or find two people to take your place.”
So we did exactly that. We hustled hard and found eleven people interested in the flat. We handed them over to Igloo on a silver platter. And what did they do? Ignored most of them. One person was even told they had to PAY to view the flat, which is illegal. Only three out of the eleven were even allowed to view it. The rest? No follow-up. No communication. Nothing.
Then, radio silence. Weeks went by. Emails ignored. No updates. So I call them, only to find out that someone had ALREADY TAKEN OVER THE FLAT and they just couldn’t be bothered to tell us. Seriously? How do you run a business like this?
Even after the takeover was supposedly “finalized,” the incompetence continued. We had to beg for updates. Still, no one told us anything. No confirmation. No paperwork. Just more stonewalling. It had now been WEEKS and we were still waiting on the formal tenancy takeover agreement. Every time I called, I got a different answer. “You’ll have it tomorrow.” “It’s being processed.” “Oh, that’s strange, let me check.” LIES. Every single time. Many of them spoke to us horrifically!
This company is a joke. They’re unprofessional, untrustworthy, and couldn’t care less about the stress and financial pressure they put on people. They left us in limbo, ignored us for weeks, and dragged out a situation that could’ve been resolved in a few days, all while we were doing THEIR job for them by finding replacement tenants.
And again, let this sink in, we never even moved in. We got screwed over before the tenancy even began. If they’re this awful at the start, I can only imagine the nightmare tenants go through once they’re locked in.
Stay far, far away from Igloo Accommodations. This company is rotten to its core. They don’t deserve your time, your money, or your sanity. They’ve completely put me and my friend off renting altogether. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
If i could give minus stars i would.

Hello Amelia,
Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that you feel you have had such a bad experience.
In January you and another individual applied to rent one of the properties we manage, due to start the tenancy in July 2025. You both paid tenancy deposits and signed the tenancy agreement.
We received an email from you on the evening of 11/03/2025, advising that your circumstances had changed and that you no longer wanted to move into the property. We responded the following morning, sympathising with your situation and advising that as you had signed a legally binding contract, we would need to secure new tenants before you could surrender the tenancy. We stated that we would re-advertise the property, but also advised you to seek alternative tenants through other outlets that we cannot access, to ensure that we could find replacements and release you from the obligations you agreed to when signing the tenancy agreement.
There were a few prospective tenants submitted by yourselves, however they did not wish to progress with the application.
An application for two new tenants was submitted on 14/04/2025, but they did not progress to signing a tenancy agreement until 29/04/2025. You were then informed that you had been released from your obligations under the tenancy agreement and you received your full deposit back three days later.
Looking at the correspondence between yourselves and Igloo, I can see that the staff always responded politely, and in a timely manner and assisted you efficiently in your request.
I fail see how you 'got screwed over' by Igloo Accommodation, as you have now been released from your tenancy as per your wishes, you have received your full deposit back and have not been charged any fees for the extra work carried out by us to facilitate your request.
If you wish to discuss this any further, please feel free to call us on 0114 2660990.
Kind regards,
Kelly Marsh

GoogleDisgraceful. I have delayed writing this review until now, but it has become unacceptable.
We were good tenants who kept the property in excellent condition and always paid rent on time, yet:
1. We were left without heating or hot water for a week in the middle of winter despite that being illegal, and it took them 4 days to provide us with heaters which they made us collect in treacherous conditions.
2. Every single issue took months of harassing them to be resolved.
3. It's now been almost 2 months since we moved out. I've requested our deposit back through the agent and DPS at least 5 times, and they still haven't paid it back to us. This is DESPITE the fact that they offered an 'early move-out offer' so we moved out 10 days earlier to get our deposits back sooner. It was a total scam. Deposits are supposed to be returned within 2 weeks as STANDARD.
4. Despite putting signs up asking people to remove shoes, Igloo staff and viewing tenants routinely entered our home and traipsed dirty shoes all through the house.
5. We reported a broken hob ignition at the start of our tenancy, which is illegal due to fire safety. This was especially dangerous due to a disability. The letting agent asked for evidence of disability to prove it was dangerous. This is also illegal. We had to escalate all the way to the council to resolve it. It took almost the entire year.
6. We reported a mould issue in our bathroom due to a faulty shower and we were told that it was not the cause of it. It was. They fixed the shower after months of nagging and it didn't get much worse after that.
Oh, and when we moved in the house was absolutely filthy. Spiders and dust and cobwebs everywhere, dirt on the walls, trash in the cupboards. It stank. There was even pee in the toilet!!! It had supposedly been professionally cleaned. The issue was never resolved despite waiting over a week, so in the end we had to deep clean the property ourselves.
There is no respect for tenants. There is so much more I could say. Don't rent with Igloo unless you don't mind living in a neglected hovel.
I hope we receive our full deposits back as we left the property in a far better state than we found it in. We will be fighting it if this is not the case.

Googlestay far far away from any property under igloo management. the properties are most likely fine, ITS THE MANAGEMENT. absolutely dense, felt like talking to brick walls. Left us without heater and kept repeating shit like the heater is on. Bro we are the ones in the house, the heater is obviously not on. I read the bad reviews here before deciding to rent since I thought it was personal issues. News flash everyone, they actually are that bad. When we came to their office, they just asked why we were there then chatted amongst themselves for a good 5 minute before someone actually stood up and talked to us. I REPEAT: DO NOT RENT UNDER IGLOO. would rate 0 if i could

Hello,
We’re sorry that you felt you had to post this review, but we do want to clarify a few things.
Our team takes all maintenance reports seriously, especially when it involves heating or other essential services. If the heating issue was ongoing, we would have continued working to resolve it, and we always rely on professional contractors to assess and confirm the status of systems, not just assumptions. While you may have disagreed with the information you were given, our staff were relaying what had been reported back to us by those carrying out the inspections.
As for your comments about our office team, we expect professionalism from all staff at all times. If your experience fell below that standard, it will be addressed internally. That said, we won’t tolerate personal insults or exaggeration. Constructive feedback is welcome; abuse is not.
If there are still unresolved issues or if you'd like to discuss this further, we’re happy to do so, but through the appropriate channels. Please contact us at maintenance@iglooaccommodation.co.uk or call us on 0114 2660990 with your tenancy details as the name you have posted this review under does not exist on our system.
We’re committed to fair treatment of all tenants, and we take these situations seriously, but we also believe in presenting a balanced and respectful account of what actually occurred.

GoogleThis company should be avoided at all costs. Our experience with Igloo Accommodation was appalling from day one. The house we moved into was filthy, full of broken furniture that sat unrepaired for nearly a year and infested with rats and mould. It was genuinely uninhabitable.
Things got worse when we were left without heating or hot water in the middle of winter. Igloo repeatedly ignored us, fobbed us off with lies and showed complete disregard for our health and safety. Their employees were consistently rude, evasive and utterly unprofessional. In the end, we had no choice but to escalate to the council and even contact our MP just to force Igloo to take the most basic action.
At the end of the tenancy, after months of neglect, they had the audacity to try and make bogus charges against our deposit, a final insult after an entire year of misery.
Igloo Accommodation are not just bad landlords, they are negligent, dishonest and exploitative. No student or tenant should have to endure the disgraceful treatment we received. Stay well away.

We are sorry to hear about your experience and take feedback of this nature very seriously. However, we must clarify that this account does not reflect the standards we aim to uphold or the efforts our team makes to support tenants throughout their stay.
While we acknowledge that some issues may have arisen during your tenancy, we strongly dispute the characterisation of our staff and services as “negligent” or “dishonest.” When maintenance issues are reported, we always strive to respond promptly and within legal timeframes, and we have a clear process in place to address urgent concerns, particularly those involving heating, hot water, or health-related matters.
Regarding deposit deductions, these are assessed based on documented check-in and check-out reports in line with tenancy agreements and deposit protection scheme guidelines. Any disputes are reviewed transparently and fairly.
We appreciate that your experience was not what you hoped for and if you had provided your actual name or the address you lived at, we would review your case. We also encourage any tenant with concerns to engage with us directly so that we can work toward a resolution constructively, rather than through public claims that may not present the full context.
Our team remains committed to providing safe, habitable, and fair accommodation for all tenants, and we continuously work to improve where needed.

GoogleWe stayed in a Sheffield student house. The ground floor bedroom ceiling was leaking due to the washing machine and my housemate had to live in a damp leaking room for almost a year with no consideration from the landlord. There was peeling paint everywhere in the 2nd floor bathroom with the bath panel hanging off. When we moved in to the property there was bags and bags of rubbish on our porch that we had to dispose of ourselves. We were with virgin wifi and had an absolutely shocking internet connection; we only had internet around 50% of the time we lived there. We moved out late July and are yet to recieve our deposit back, we've no response to our emails and I have been fobbed off several times on the phone with ridiculous excuses, none of which answer my questions as to why they are holding on to our money. We are close to taking legal action on this matter. Disgraceful, this company should be ashamed that they are taking advantage of students.

GoogleDO NOT LIVE WITH THIS DISGUSTING BUSINESS. They allowed us to move into a property that:
•A mattress and carpet(s) drenched in urine
•One of the girls went without a mattress
•Broken cupboards, doors and furniture
•A hole in the wall
•Burn marks on the carpets
• One sofa (that was even broken)
•The toilet was in a state with the flooring peeling off the floor
•The shower was broken
•The garden was a state
•They allowed us to move in, only to make us essentially pack up our things so they could have the house decorated (which should’ve been done before we moved in)
•Following this, we were locked out of our home at 3am with no access to the house because the painters you hired locked us out. We received no compensation of any form for this and we were stranded the whole night
•We was promised new flooring and a TV (which we never received)
•There were old belongings from the previous tenants still there, such as dirty underwear, toothbrushes and dirty quilts
•There was MOULD in the house, which was never addressed.
With all this, they decided that our deposits will not be returned due to bluetack marks on the wall. They will treat like you’re not human beings and will charge you for the most insignificant things.

GoogleAvoid at all costs!! My partner lives in one of their properties with some of our friends and they have had a total nightmare. The mould is severe enough that they are all getting ill, and for more than 6 months the tenants have been asking them to deal with it. Igloo's response at first was 'use the heating' and 'open windows'. This didn't solve anything as the building has a serious damp issue. They refused to do anything further after a contractor visited and said it was connected to a problem with the chimney stack, and roofers would be needed. Instead they have sent someone 3 times now to just... paint over the mould, which of course grew back every time. They are difficult to communicate with and refuse to spend beyond the bare minimum to maintain their properties, even when it is affecting the health of tenants. The housemates are trying to get out of the tenancy and move, but Igloo refuses to release them from that either. They really couldn't care less for your wellbeing. No property agency is great but they are truly the lowest of the low.

GoogleI would highly recommend NOT using igloo accommodation. we had a terrible experience with them:
1. when we moved in our flat was dirty and had not been professionally cleaned like we were told. our extractor fan was broken/missing. our front door did not remain shut.
2. i chased up over months about the front door being broken and not able to close properly. i came home one day after a flat viewing to find my front door wide open. even after this they did not fix it. they only fixed it months later when i was at home during a flat viewing and pointed it out to them.
3. my radiator was broken for a few weeks. i reported this as it was approaching winter. the landlord came round to the flat to fix something else and i showed him the radiator and he said he would get it fixed. i sent multiple emails over the course of the month as it was getting colder and it was snowing. it took about 2 months of constant chasing to get it fixed.
4. me and my flat mate both witnessed the landlord / his workers scratching my car. they were doing work in the adjacent building and took the corner out too quickly, causing a scratch on my car. when i questioned him on this he said ‘it can’t have because my hand was blocking the car’
5. there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling which we got told was illegal as it was positioned next to the water/heater switch. this was fixed the next day but we had been living with this since we moved in which means the flat had not been adequately checked
6. i got told there was parking and when clarifying i got told it was on street parking with a permit. when i rang the council they said that there are no permits given to residents at this property due to one of the conditions when building the property. this means it is very difficult to park in the ‘free spaces’ as they were extremely limited
7. there was no hoover in the flat when we got told we would have one and when questioned they didn’t respond
all in all if you want to spend your tenancy chasing problems then go with igloo

GoogleTo echo many others, AVOID IGLOO.
Igloo are slow, incompetent, callous and lie constantly about the state of their property.
Our problems were endless, but here's a few.
-Front door was the wrong size for the frame, and had to be rehung every two months
-Terrible damp, caused by them not turning on a integral dehumidifier that they neglected to tell us existed. Once we were told about it, it was wired in backwards and the wall switch had to be off to turn it on
-Claimed the flat had a deep clean, first thing I found when I moved in was a baggie with some weed left in it
-Claimed the flat was redecorated, but had painted over exposed nails
-Only investigated the damp when we threatened legal action against them
-Matress was destroyed when we got there.
-Ground floor flat managed to have a leaky roof (go figure)
-Overpriced
-You had to email three people five times to get any help at all
- When we turned the dehumidifier back on, every Wooden item (including the floor) warped. The thing had obviously been off for years.
-Returned our deposits in full only once we'd joined a tenants union, and let them know about that.
I don't know if Igloo is incompetent or callous, but why they're awful doesn't matter if you are unfortunate enough to live in their houses. Avoid at all costs.

GoogleWe stayed at the Igloo Leeds Apartment and would never stay in any of this owners apartments AGAIN!! Upon arriving at 6PM they still hadn't sent the apartment number, sending pictures of where the key location is surrounding the building which was just a fence and grass.. 20 minutes later finding it. Getting through the external building door with the key waiting on the apartment number one of our guest then tried to unlock it taking some effort to realise it was already left open. On leaving at 9:30AM the next morning we followed the exact procedures as we arrived with, shutting the door behind us and pulling the external door shut and putting the key back into the lock spinning the code to keep security. To the following day the owner sending a £40 fine for not locking the apartment door in which this is how it was when we arrived!! To then leaving ourself a bad review saying we was noisy etc.. from this experience we highly believe this is a scam to gain extra money from each stay. Please be warned of this!! They keep the door unlocked on purpose to send you a fine for more money. WOULD NEVER STAY AGAIN!!!

GoogleHave no complaints through our tenancy- never really needed anything to be fixed etc so the tenancy was completely fine however since leaving the property we’ve had no communication regarding our deposit which was almost 10 weeks ago now. So many emails have been sent to them with zero acknowledgment or response & phone calls when answered have felt quite dismissive and just general answers. Really let down our experience of Igloo but due to the post move out processes being poor and not communicating with us not the actual housing.

GoogleSince becoming a tenant of Igloo, I have been incredibly happy with the service they have provided and how I have been treated. Andy and the team have been incredibly helpful and efficient every time I have been into the office, called or emailed. Having used other student letting agencies previously, I can honestly say that they don't even compare to Igloo. After living in a house last year where I had a constant battle with the agency to get anything done, it was so refreshing to sign with igloo and have any problems dealt with promptly. The team are great with communication and I honestly can't fault them.
Thanks everyone!

GoogleWe left our house in late July and are still yet to receive our deposits and they constantly ignore emails about what is taking so long. Furthermore the house at 13 Broomsgrove crescent is practically unliveable with peeling ceilings in the bathroom and one of the bottom floor rooms has a leaking ceiling from the washing machine, with no effort to resolve either issue. Even if you ring their 'emergency' hotline they do not pick up, its almost laughable. Do NOT rent a house with them.

GoogleStayed in one of the Sheffield student houses. The roof started leaking after 2 months, I was in the attic bedroom and they left me to sleep under a rotting ceiling that was just growing with mould, getting woken up in the night by rainwater dripping through a hole in the ceiling caused by this leak in the roof. Didn’t attempt to fix it for about 4 months after I wouldn’t drop the issue. Even as I moved out after 12 months the leak was still present as the repairs had failed. No care for my health sleeping for 10 months 6/7 inches away from a growing mould patch, and other multiple damp areas in the room. Appalled at the level of incompetence running through the company. Even since moving out, no effort has been made to remain in touch, and the deposit process is now into its 6th week, with no effort it seems to get a move on. I have had multiple ignored emails, not a great 12 months.
