Zoe from Preston Baker was absolutely fantastic throughout the purchase of my house 🏠 in Selby. She was professional, helpful and went above and beyond, and I genuinely couldn’t fault her service.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for what happened when I collected the keys on Friday afternoon.
Anna, another agent, made a major and completely avoidable mistake by handing the keys to my new house to another customer. This wasn’t a minor admin error, my removal men were already outside the property waiting to unload, leaving me standing there unable to get into my own home on moving day.
Anna tried calling the customer who had been given my keys, but initially got no answer. A locksmith was therefore arranged to gain access to the property. However, when the other customer eventually called back to say they were on their way, Anna then tried to cancel the locksmith.
Quite frankly, I found that extremely frustrating. After making such a serious mistake in the first place, the priority should have been getting me into my property as quickly as possible, not potentially leaving me waiting even longer while the situation was resolved.
I had to make sure the locksmith wasn’t cancelled, despite the fact that the whole situation had been caused by an error that should never have happened in the first place.
Moving house is stressful enough without having to deal with an estate agent giving your house keys to somebody else. It was a schoolboy error on what was already an incredibly stressful day, and there needs to be a much better system in place to ensure this cannot happen again.
I would happily recommend Zoe personally because she was excellent, but the experience with Anna was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, completely unacceptable for Associate Director

We are, however, genuinely sorry for what happened when you came to collect the keys on moving day. We fully appreciate how frustrating and stressful it must have been to arrive with your removal team waiting outside, only to find that the keys had been handed to the wrong customer. This was an unfortunate human error, and we completely understand your disappointment.
As soon as the mistake was identified, Anna took responsibility and acted to resolve the situation, including arranging an emergency locksmith and personally ensuring the correct keys were returned to the property. We appreciate that this does not undo the inconvenience you experienced, but we hope it demonstrates how seriously the situation was taken and the steps taken to put it right.
We have reflected carefully on what happened and will be reviewing our key-handling procedures to help ensure an error like this does not happen again. We sincerely apologise for the additional stress caused on what should have been an exciting day, and we thank you for your kind words about Zoe.

Our house move took over a year, thanks to 2 sets of committed buyers withdrawing for personal reasons. We chose Preston Baker at Oakwood, Leeds because of the single point of contact Gemma Duxbury, who formed a WhatsApp group with us. She was warm, supportive and approachable throughout especially when having to deliver 'bad news', which she always did via a phone call. We had little contact therefore with the office, but Gemma was always responsive when needed. Each of the three times that our house went on market, Gemma and the office had plenty of viewers lined up and we sold quite quickly on each occasion.
There were a couple of times during the process when we felt that little progress was being made and we had to be proactive ourselves, forming a relationship with our vendors and our buyers. However, the fact that we are finally in our last 'forever home' is largely due to Gemma holding our hands on our tortuous journey. We would recommend Preston Baker and, particularly, Gemma.

I instructed Preston Baker on a sale in good faith, based on what they present as a high-quality, proactive service, but my experience so far has been extremely disappointing.
Photos were taken and the property was listed, but that’s the bare minimum I’d expect from any estate agent. Beyond that, there has been no tailored property launch as promised. It took an entire week just to collect keys, causing unnecessary delays from the start.
Communication has been consistently poor, getting any feedback takes days, and we’ve had to chase for literally everything. On one occasion, we were reassured that an offer would be made, only to be told later that the viewer actually hated the location and wasn’t even financially in a position to buy. This is not the professional service we were led to believe we’d get.
Overall, Preston Baker try to make themselves look like they offer something above and beyond an average estate agent, but in reality, they’re actually worse.

Thank you for your feedback, I would like to address each point.
When we listed your property, you instructed us on the Wednesday and we moved appointments to get the photographer to you on the Thursday as you wanted to be live for the weekend due to finding a property you would like to buy. We discussed the property launch however you were keen to get viewings booked in immediately due to finding another property and our property launch strategy is to market for 2 weeks and conduct the launch with multiple people, this was not your preferred method of marketing.
We agreed to collect keys when the viewing took place, this cancelled and so we collected keys on the same day following a conversation with you.
Viewing feedback can sometimes take time to obtain, however we should be communicating with our clients if we are unable to get hold of viewers, I have noted this and will pick this up with the team. The viewer advised on the viewing that she would be making an offer but came back to our agent to advise "on reflection the property is too close to the main road with having a toddler". It is unfortunate when viewers change their minds I understand.
I am disappointed that you feel that the service has been consistently poor over the 3 weeks that you have had your house on the market, I will ensure the team see this feedback and work together to improve the service you receive.
