Enquired about a property

Enquired about a property. Travelled a round trip of 10 hours to view said property. Landlord accepted application but needed to contact freeholder to seek permission to let. Original chap I was dealing with was superb, but he went on leave. Hunters then left me sat for a week without communication, and let to someone else during that period. Absolutely infuriating waste of time and effort and an appalling way to treat a potential customer. Don't go near them.

Absolutely amazing experience with Hunters in Selby. I’ve just completed on a house sold by them and honestly they have been mint. James, Lisa and their team were always there happy to answer any query. I was kept updated about the whole chain’s progress without even prompting or asking all the time. They chased and chased all elements of the chain for us to reach our pretty tight completion target. I must have called about 3 times a week during the process and they were always so lovely to speak to. If I could give them the fee I gave my agent for selling they would have it! They were way better in every area. Would not hesitate to recommend. Best estate agent I’ve ever dealt with.

"Avoid Hunters Property Management

"Avoid Hunters Property Management, Inefficient, Rude, and Unprofessional" My experience with Hunters Property Management has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. They have consistently demonstrated poor service, inefficiency, and a dismissive attitude towards tenant concerns. Ineffective Issue Resolution: Hunters fails to handle even basic maintenance issues. For example, a heating issue during winter was passed to the landlord without any attempt to troubleshoot. I had to step in and take personal risks to resolve the problem myself, only to discover it was a simple battery replacement. Their inability to perform even basic triage highlights their lack of professionalism and problem-solving capabilities. Creating Gaps Between Tenants and Landlords: Instead of acting as a competent mediator, Hunters merely relays messages between tenants and landlords, causing delays and unnecessary misunderstandings. This approach has damaged the relationship between myself and the landlord, as the agency often fails to communicate effectively or accurately. Rude and Dismissive Behavior: The staff frequently respond to concerns with a dismissive tone, making tenants feel unsupported and undervalued. Their arrogant demeanor gives the impression that addressing tenant concerns is a favor rather than their responsibility. Neglecting Tenant Safety and Comfort: Health and safety issues, such as rat infestations and malfunctioning alarms, were not addressed promptly, despite the serious risks they posed. The lack of urgency in handling these matters has caused significant stress and discomfort for my family. Minimal Value Added: Hunters operates more like a messenger than a property management service. They fail to provide meaningful solutions and seem content to pass the burden of responsibility onto others, leaving tenants to fend for themselves. Overall, Hunters Property Management has proven to be unprofessional, inefficient, and dismissive. Both tenants and landlords deserve better. I strongly advise against using their services if you value timely resolutions, respect, and effective communication.

Avoid with all cost!

Rented an apartment they told me it was deep cleaned before handing over the keys and everything would be fixed etc nothing was cleaned blood on walls mould in all rooms had a faulty/leaky boiler very slack on emails no communication in there office also they was very rude over the phone we never moved into the property due to all the damages and mould etc I was willing to give up my first months rent and for them to send me back the deposit but they refused to send anything back I would highly do not recommend this company/agancey to rent/buy a property from they are useless and slack

Fantastic service from start to finish. During the worlds most horrific house move, including incompetent solicitors, incorrect chain details and hacked conveyancing systems, Hunters were one of the only professional and approachable companies. I cannot emphasise enough how much choosing the right estate agent is in these situations, and going forwards (once I have got over the PTSD of this move) I will always use Hunters at Selby, they are approachable, personable and extremely determined to provide a good service. I would like to thank James & Lisa personally for putting up with my relentless (borderline harassment) badgering, and during this move I'm more than convinced they deserve a stress related bonus. They chased the chain constantly getting updates even though the solicitors at the bottom seemed reluctant to give one, I am convinced this chain would have collapsed without them!PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

I have just moved into my house that I purchased through Hunters Selby, and must say they were faultless from start to finish. From initially viewing the house all the way through to completion, Lisa and James went above and beyond at all times, and really helped to push the sale over the finish line when it became unclear as to whether the completion date the chain had agreed would happen. I was recommended a solicitor by James, who was again faultless, as well as very fairly priced, and they put my previous solicitor to shame. They all regularly kept me updated with any progress from the solicitors too. Ultimately, at such a stressful time, it was lovey to have such friendly and caring people at the end of the phone. I have met so many estate agents that just see people as transactions, and leave the chasing/updating to the solicitors (as my estate agent that sold my property did) but this was absolutely not the case and James/Lisa were very proactive in updating and making sure all was as should be. I would sincerely recommend Hunters Selby to anyone - and when I do eventually sell this property, I will certainly be using them myself!

Couldn’t recommend this Hunters branch enough, I’ve never known a house sale as stress free! We had the pleasure of dealing with Lisa & James and they were incredible from start to finish, straight to the point, no messing about and they understood what we wanted and needed to achieve and just got it done. We didn’t have the best experience with another local agent during the process but both James and Lisa put our concerns right and made sure we were happy with the marketing, the fees, the process and service we would receive. We were so well informed, never had to chase them once! Viewings were handled by them professionally and we really did get the best offer. I never thought you could trust an estate agent but there you go, proven wrong! 😉

Rebekah, Lisa and James were fantastic from start to finish for our process. They moved at lightning speed, were always contactable and if not they came back to us very quickly. They kept us updated along certain parts of the sale process so we could focus on our onward purchase. We found them to be polite, straight to the point, hard working, dedicated to a 'smooth as possible' approach and would highly recommend Hunters and the Selby team to anyone looking to sell the house. Our house had offers within 3 days of being on the market so their marketing focus was very impressive indeed. Having dealt with a number of estate agents in the past having moved 10+ times over the past 7 years, I can honestly say that James and the team at Hunters in Selby are a breath of fresh air.

Hunters are not interested

Hunters let the house adjacent to ours. There have been multiple pipe leaks around the bathroom causing flooding which in turn is causing damp smells on our side due to the length of time taken to address the issues. It's been repaired after four weeks now within hours water is currently coming through the ceiling next door soaking our party wall and they have told the tennant it's livable no problem. Hopefully they won't charge them for a wet room!!!

Damaged our house, and we're not even their clients!

Hunters hung a "for sale" sign on our property, which was a surprise to us, since we were neither selling nor letting the property. When asked to take it down, four visible holes have been left in the wall of our home. It has been six and a half weeks, and the holes are still there. In a couple of weeks, we're going to need to escalate this to the ombudsman. Frankly, I'd be happy with getting the cost of some filler from them and doing it myself. Companies need to be held responsible for damage - they cannot be let off with an "oopsie, my bad".

lettings fees are very high

For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

What can I say some real skullduery with this man caught him out lieing a few times was taking all the viewings on them selves until one day he said the had nobody to do a viewing one day so could I do it ..when I got there there was a builder there with the family to witch I dont mind but he new about this and didn't tell a made a lie up as to why they couldn't attend the viewing ..I confirmed this by phoning the office and was told he new this why not tell the truth I was miffed as to why lie anyway after this he had started to be very obnoxious towards me and denied being caught out on various occasions and calling me something abusive amongst staff..text me by accident calling me this then retracted it quite quickly once he realised what he had done ..on the pluss side the woman who works for him was really good and calming going through a stressful time selling a home

As an estate agents son I have high expectations of any agent. The team at Hunters Selby were excellent especially James Powell who was the main contact for us in our house purchase. Everything we asked of James was done quickly and with great willingness. If James wasn't available his colleague Lisa Duncan was always able to keep up us to date with what was happening with the chain we were in. Despite the stresses of a house move we felt very relaxed to rely on James to keep the processes going, both for ourselves and the vendor of the property we were buying. Recently used Hunters for the sale of a property - James and Lisa were brilliant at keeping me informed throughout the process. I never needed to ask for an update as they were in regular contact even if there was nothing much to say! I was lucky enough to have more than one offer, and James's advice on who to go with was spot on. During the remaining selling process Lisa was open and honest, and also down to earth, meaning I was able to have frank discussions about the property with her. Really pleased with their service and would definitely recommend. They made it a relatively painless process!
