Don’t rent from these people

Currently renting a house from Charles Harding and the shower has stopped working about 5 times now, this time round I was told I’d have a guy come out to fix it in 3 days, so I waited indoors all day for someone to come out and then nobody showed up so I then called them up and told them I need a shower so please can you get someone else out, was then very rude to me on the phone treated me like I’m an idiot. And still I’m yet to have a shower.. appalling do not rent any houses from these guys as they don’t help at all

Zero stars

Would like to give zero stars but can’t. They are neither fair nor transparent in their dealings as gone are the days where a property is priced and then negotiations take place. Not convinced there are other ‘offers’ and certainly not convinced someone wouldn’t accept our cash offer - 9k over asking price, willing to complete with no searches within 14 days, as they were happy with the lower offer! Subsequently found out a builder bought it under a business, so couldn’t ever see how much it went for. Would’ve been good to speak to vendors to see if they were ever even made aware of our offer. The woman who answers the phone is unpleasant and shouldn’t be working in a customer-facing role. Rude with a whiff of arrogance.

I'd like to express my gratitude towards Laura, for introducing me to the rented property. My daughter was in the position to look…

My daughter was in the position to look to buy a flat. She was shown properties by several different agents. Raf at Charles Harding was the one who stood out to us. He listened to what she was looking for and found properties one of which she decided to go forward with. My daughter, Alysia, works so hard and this is her first property. Almost ready to exchange and a major problem cropped up with bad internet connection which, for her job, was essential to have. Raf felt her disappointment and went above and beyond to contact people for a solution and he found it. As I write this my daughter is decorating and putting her own stamp on the perfect property for her. Horrendous Agent

Appalled at the neglect and lack of responsibility Charles Harding have taken whilst “Fully Managing” our property.The House was left Filthy, damages to a Newly fitted Kitchen, things left which needed removal, massively over grown Garden costing £600 alone to put right, and more - yet taking no responsibility to replace funds it’s cost to fix, taking nothing from the tenant who left it this way. They had the Dates that the new tenants would be moving in, and failed to have the House cleaned in time, then refused to have it cleaned because it was being occupied. One big head ache and it now going through court.Avoid.

Highly recommended...

It has been so easy to work with everyone at Charles Harding. Correspondence has been straightforward and I have always received a response to my emails by the end of the day. It doesn't seem too much trouble to ask questions about my tenants or for them to be contacted throughout a working week. Charles Harding coordinated all the checks on my house, cleaned it through and did all preparations in order for my house to be ready for the rental market. They kept me informed of which tenants were suitable and talked me through the various options I had. I would highly recommend Charles Harding - hassle free, reliable people!

Dishonest and awkward

For someone who last used an estate agent to find a rental home around 8 years ago, I was terribly concerned about Charles Harding in Swindon and their approach. I would suggest caution for landlords and tenants alike.When finding the ideal property on Rightmove, I was told that I couldn't apply to rent this house until I saw the house inside - even though I went to see the house externally and was happy with the appearance and area. So, I went to view at the earliest opportunity offered and was told on the day of enquiry that the landlord was accepting of my offer in principle.On viewing day, I handed in my application in on paper and was told I would get an answer next day. At that stage, I was the only person viewing as no other viewings were being done and no accepted applications were submitted based upon what the agent was telling me.Next day; no response came and it took me 2 calls to get an answer. The answer was such a shock.... All of a sudden, the lettings person said that other applications were in (so I was previously lied to) and the landlord accepted another offer. Oh well..... but hold on! The property continued to be advertised on Rightmove for a further 4 days. So, I called in on day +4 using a different number and enquired about the house, and was then told it was let just 3 hours before on that day (lie number 2).So, my experience was not great as I was continually lied to, and every attempt I made to be the ideal tenant was blocked by the agent. Did the landlord even know about my application? Why was I being lied to - there didn't seem to be any valid reason to suggest I was the only interested person on viewing day? Why tell me that the house was rented to someone else and was being taken off Rightmove, but then 4 days later tell me that it was then only just agreed to rent to someone that day?I accept the rental market place has moved on. But my experience with other agents since has been quite different.

When I came in Swindon and looked for a rental house I met this agency. Everybody said that to rent a flat is always so hard in UK but as a person obeying all rules I did not mind this preconception. Time showed I was right because my tenant-agency relation continued perfect and without any problems. This happened at the same way until this tenancy relation finished. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY....BE CAREFUL...DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR ENERGY ON THIS AGENT.... If I could give zero star I would. Charles Harding in Swindon are the worst and most unreliable, unreasonable, dubious and problematic agents I have ever used in my life. They are quick to collect huge rent money, however shine away from fixing harmful moulds properly. There where many issues in the property that took months to fix. The property was given in a bad condition, and I didn't realise this until after moving in, as many problems where covered up to make the property look decent enough to move in. They lack communication and respect for their tenants, always wanted the tenants to come out worse off. You can be a very good tenant, and they will still try and rip you off at any given opportunity. Make sure you have protection as a tenant, especially for your deposit before using this agent, because they are not considerate, or helpful. For them to take the actual cost and amount from your deposit to fix a repair at the end of your tenancy, they will request you pay them full deposit. Plus make sure your tenancy is for long term, and not short, so that you don't get kicked out after a year, with no consideration of what you spent moving in, or moving out, just because landlord wants to move back in. They told me whilst accepting the property it's definitely a long term rental, considering I'll be moving with kids. When you query their services, they will ignored you and cover up their mistakes. Please please after my experience just be careful. They work more to protect their landlords NOT their tenants, and do come across very biased.

Right from the start of the sale of our house, the team at Charles Harding Estate Agents could not have been more efficient and helpful. Advertising and viewings went into immediate action after we signed up and within 24 hours our house was on RightMove. Viewings started immediately and after an offer was made, their conveyancing team helped in every way to ensure that matters we needed to deal with were facilitated for quick action. My wife and I have bought house which was being sold by Charles Harding on behalf of their client. Even though we were the buyers, I felt that they were working closely with us and their clients to speed the sale through as fast as they could. With this in mind and us being the buyers, Charles Harding were always understanding, polite, professional and always ‘on it’ as I like to say, which was brilliant. I was so impressed and will definitely be considering them in the future and have already been singing their praises to people as in my view, one of the best estate agents out there. Since February 2013 In gave my property…

Since February 2013 In gave my property on a fully Managed basis to the above branch. They were very good in the beginging, but afterwards they starting increasing their rates. If you are a Landlord be Careful and read the terms of contract, do what you want, not what they say. I had a bad experiance as a Landlord.Do not speak on the phone, always send an email and get an answer via email. Very bad experiance , can't trust this Estate Agent any more and suggest all Landlords not to approach this Agent anymore.
