TrustpilotWould recommend Stirling Ackroyd
Stirling Ackroyd were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful before I booked my Home Buyers Survey, and it was easy to arrange once I'd decided which survey best met my needs. The surveyor himself (Steve) produced a comprehensive report and took the trouble to ring me to talk through a couple of points too. Very impressed with the service and I would be happy to recommend SA.

the agent is extremely slow in responding messages and emails (wouldn't reply in days). are not helpful in solving customer's issues (e.g., move-in especially). the only time they responded quickly is when they want you to sign the lease, and then, they ghosted the customer.

Trustpilot“Property Management”
We are tenants in a property “managed” by this agency. I have never seen any company (even outside property management) being so disorganised. They really excel in ignoring emails and are always ridiculously apologetic instead of doing the actual work. Some repairs had to be done in the flat which we requested and if we do not follow up on a daily basis we don’t even get a reply. Sometimes we get promises that something will be done on the next day and if we follow up on the next day we receive an out of office emails. However, they are very good in chasing us on things that are coming from the landlord. When a questionable rent increase was “offered” to us we were called multiple times and receive numerous email chasers. I would not recommend this agency to anyone including landlords if they do want to keep their tenants in the flat over a longer period.

GoogleWe bought our house through Townends and six years later we sold it with their help. Both times they were such a pleasure to deal with. All of the agents have been lovely, friendly and helpful - Morgan, Sharon, Richard and Chris. I can truly recommend this agency.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

TrustpilotSlow-motion train wreck - AVOID!!!
Complete disaster. They chose bad tenants, then handled the tenancy so badly that they got their deposit back, with the property empty for nearly 2 months. They cannot communicate with clients, tenants or even with each other. They add lots of extra charges without telling you, they made mistakes in every contract they wrote for me. The quotes they get for jobs are always exorbitant. I told them 15 times about a mistake their automated system was making, and they did not correct it. They even transferred a deposit to the wrong people so they lost the deposit twice in 12 months. so bad you would think they it was a joke. The complaint system took ages, and the attitude was patronising too. Save yourself the hassle, and avoid Stirling Ackroyd at all costs. Terrible.

TrustpilotSerious lack of courtesy and professionalism
I am deeply disappointed with the unprofessional and rude customer service provided by Stirling Ackcroyd. We rented for just under 2 years and they acted as our letting agents. We moved out of the property in January 2022 and are still waiting (3 months time) for them to release our deposit. We have tried to contact them by email 3 times with no reply and when we try to call they say they will call us back but to no avail. They are in serious need of some customer service training and I would strongly recommend not using them. S

TrustpilotScam agency
My partner and I proposed an official offer for a rental property and were informed that the offer was accepted. Due to this, we cancelled any potential other properties. After this confirmation of our offer being accepted we were informed that Stirling Ackroyd had proposed an incorrect higher amount to the landlord of the property. We were then asked to propose a higher amount than our offer which we refused. Stirling Ackroyd would not take accountability of the situation and now we are left without a property. It is the worst experience I have ever had with an estate agency and advise anyone to be cautious or avoid this company.

TrustpilotExcited to work with Sterling
I have recently been in conversations with Daniel Thompson, after a less-than-satisfactory service received from a competitor of Sterling I was apprehensive on dealing with another agent, however, I am impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge displayed during our conversations. While I have not worked with them yet, the initial interaction was positive, and I am excited to see how they can help me with my property needs.

TrustpilotAvoid Stirling Ackroyd at all costs!!!!
I would give this a 0 star rating if I could!Stirling Ackroyd lied to the tenants and the landlord to ensure that both parties signed the contract. After the contract was signed, Stirling Ackroyd refused to be held accountable for the incorrect information they had told both parties! Another thing is that the Agency makes all of these promises verbally which they then deny ever having said! So if you do make the mistake of using Stirling Ackroyd, make sure EVERYTHING is in writing! On the viewing day, we met with the agent, Kurwahn, to view the house. It was a lovely house but came fully furnished. We made it very clear that we would like some of the furniture removed to which Kurwahn said of course that can be done through communicating with the landlord. We (the tenants) then clearly asked about the process of a tenancy swap at any point in the agreement. We were verbally told (multiple times by two agents, Kurwahn and Danielle) that a tenancy swap can take place at anytime if the tenant pays a £50 fee and finds a replacement tenant… this is also clearly written on the agreement. We later found out that the agency had told the landlord that we were wanting to sign up for a year and would probably like to renew the contract after the year is finished (we definitely did not say this)! After signing the agreement, we emailed the landlord to ask for furniture to be removed, as verbally promised by the agency, to which the landlord responded “absolutely not, all furniture is to stay where it is”. The landlord explained that she had been very clear with the agency regarding the furniture and how it could not be removed due to nil storage space. We phoned Kurwahn to explain the situation to which he responded “my only suggestion is to lie and say that you need the current mattresses to be removed due to medical reasons”.Due to extenuating circumstances (needing to move back home to Australia), I needed to do a tenancy swap 3 months into the contract. I emailed Stirling Ackroyd to explain the situation, advise them of the next tenant taking my spot and asked which account I should pay the £50 for the tenancy swap to take place. I was told by the agency that this needs to be “agreed by the landlord”. I phoned the landlord and asked if she agreed. The landlord said she would agree but the agency has asked for her to pay a £430 “administrative fee” for the change so the landlord declined for me to move out. The £430 fee was not written on either the landlord’s nor the tenants contract. The agency denied having told us (the tenants) that the tenancy swap was as easy as a £50 fee and asked me if this was in writing. I was told by the agency that if I wanted a tenancy swap to take place, I would have to come to “an agreement” with the landlord ie. I would have to pay the £50 tenant fee+ £430 landlord fee for the swap. I sought advice through Shelter and I was informed that it was illegal under the “2019 Tenancy Act” for the tenant to pay more than £50 for a swap. I passed this information to the agency to which they said they understand that the tenant shouldn’t pay more than £50 but that the landlord was not wanting to pay the £430 which meant the swap could not take place unless the tenant and landlord came to an “agreement”. I felt backed into a corner with no other option than to pay the $430 + $50 fee for the swap. Basically, save yourself the hassle, the emotional distress and save your bank account! DO NOT USE STIRLING ACKROYD!

FacebookAppalling, disgusting and insulting service is what I have come to expect from Stirling Ackroyd. I have been a landlord with them managing my property for the last three years, and my experience has been terrible at every turn.
Clowns, jokers, and scam artists are how I would characterise every person I’ve interfaced with during my time with them. Do yourself a favour, and stay away from this pathetic, low-life, work-shy joke of a company.
