We chose Petty to manage the sale of our house due to their solid footprint of experience in the market place as well as the strong positive opinion amongst those we spoke to about who to use. From the initial first meeting in our home to discuss the sale strategy, to the open house, the management of offers and the administration process - it was all looked after by the team to an extremely high standard, true professionals throughout, complete open timely communication yet with a familiar friendly tone which helped in our, what could have been, stressful lengthy/short time frame chain. After looking for a property across many different parts of London for 3 years, and coming into contact with approx 50 estate agents some of who didn't even bother to turn up to viewings or listen to what we wanted, then Petty Son & Prestwitch then came along. Petty Son stood out a mile from other agents across London and in the Wanstead area. They actually listened to us, spoke frankly about the local property market, and I genuinely felt they understood our position and had us in mind for all properties within our budget. Unlike other agents in the area there was no aggressive sales pitch for using Petty Son as middlemen for a mortgage etc. They used their time to focus on us and the seller. They always responded to our emails and phone calls promptly. I just wish we had found Petty Son earlier. The main people we dealt with across two of their offices were Fran, Elaine, Pam, and Fay. I couldn't recommend the Petty Son & Prestwich team more highly! Having decided to sell our flat in Aldersbrook we chose to seek a valuation from Petty, amongst others. The overriding factor that lead us to opt for them was the fact that not only did the valuation seem fair and informed, the advice and strategy proposed by Fay gave us confidence and was over and above anything we had seen from other agents, whose tactics appeared to be throwing high, unrealistic valuations at the seller in a hope to win the business. During a tough post brexit housing market the Petty team kept us informed and calm throughout the process. Once offers were accepted, Elaine and Fay worked tirelessly to help us complete what was a pretty eventful sale professionally and within our targeted time-frame. Impressive!!!

After showing interest in an apartment in Snaresbrook and arranging a viewing by phone, I received an email confirming the address and time for the viewing. As it turned out, I was given the wrong postcode and therefore arrived at the wrong address, a 20 minute walk away from where the property was actually located. I received a call from Du Preez Botha who asked me where I was and, after explaining to him that he had indeed given me the wrong postcode he said "well I had the same postcode as you and have never been here before myself and I've managed to find it". Although I should have checked the name of the road itself as well as the postcode, I did only use the postcode as I was using my google maps app. Estate agents are by nature rather arrogant people who know the rental market well, they have a lot of interest in each property. Having said this, if a mistake is made on one's part, one should accept this, not blame the client. He did apologise, although this didn't feel too sincere. I also work in a very busy office where I am responsible for providing addresses to clients. So a word of advice from me would be to: A. double check both the number / name and street name and B. make sure the postcode provided to a potential client matches the address. In this way the time wasted for both parties will be avoided.
