Terrible company. The Yateley branch are terrible, say they callback and don’t. Was ment to be buying a house they never mentioned probate, told me I could be in on a certain date then once I’m rushing my solicitor they then mention probate. Told me various dates for when probate was applied for, passed me from person to person in the office. Emails showing probate wasn’t mentioned yet they slip the word executor on the memorandum so expected me to know. They try to wash hands of anything they do wrong. Terrible company. Now heard being mislead is known as ‘the Romans experience’

TrustpilotAn incredibly unethical agency - avoid if you can
Pros: 1. Good communication2. Generally nice staff 3. Decent maintenance teamCons: 1. I was threatened that I'd lose the flat if I opted out of no deposit option2. Their no deposit option is essentially a scam - expensive with no real benefit (even a payday loan would've been cheaper), and takes away your legal protection from the government's deposit protection schemes3. For disputes, they charge £120 for their third party adjudicator - which would've been illegal under any deposit protection scheme, but they get away with it due to point 2 above4. The "third party adjudicator" is actually a private company that acts in the interest of the letting agent (just look at reviews for "Property Redress" - formerly HF Resolution Ltd)5. They charge incredibly inflated rates - I was charged £300 for a light clean of a 1 bed flat, they refused to negotiate and there's no means to dispute it fairly as mentioned aboveI've dealt with a number of letting agencies, both as landlord and as tenant, and Romans are truly one of the worst I've come across. The sort of agency that consistently operates in the grey area of the Trading Standards. Avoid if you can.

I would like to just commend the team for working with my wife and I through a fairly long process. Our efforts to sell began in 2019 and the Romans team, through all the changes in personnel handling our sale were great. I reckon that you found us buyers four times in total during that time. The move manager piece was less great to be honest, but once again the team stepped in to make things happen within the timeframe that we needed.

Great letting agent through out, sadly had to leave because our rental has persistent pest issue that the landlord seems no very keen to fix the root cause. But Romans caversham office has been very professional with our case, we finally moved out prior to our contract ends. Chloe and Anais from the letting team are brilliant. They are kind and responsive. We would love to rent again with Romans Caversham in the future.

I chose Romans Maidenhead because I felt that their valuations were more realistic and closer to market expectations. We then got to offer within 6-7 weeks which we thought was very good given the unpredictable market conditions. I found Warren, Peter and Jacob to be of good character, persistent in getting qualified viewings and demonstrating a clear understanding of the local property market. PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you are a tenant looking to rent with them.From the beginning they were underhanded and sneaky, trying to push you to buy insurance and force you onto their no deposit scheme and they make you feel like you have no choice and will lose out if you don’t agree.It’s shameful really and what they’re doing is ILLEGAL agencies are NOT allowed to pressure or force you onto any schemes or pay any extra fees. But of course they EARN COMMISSION from selling you insurance and the fees from the no deposit option go to them NOT the landlords. PLEASE do research on these schemes especially if you’re being pressured into one as unless you really can’t afford a standard deposit it’s a big SCAM and a literal waste of money.It’s shocking really that even senior staff including Charlotte the lettings manager will ACTIVELY LIE and pressure you as well. These guys don’t care about tenants only about fleecing you for as much money as possible.Someone should investigate them because these guys are clearly void of morals and desperate for a bit of extra cash and will apparently bend the law to get it.
