Damaged our house, and we're not even their clients!

Hunters hung a "for sale" sign on our property, which was a surprise to us, since we were neither selling nor letting the property. When asked to take it down, four visible holes have been left in the wall of our home. It has been six and a half weeks, and the holes are still there. In a couple of weeks, we're going to need to escalate this to the ombudsman. Frankly, I'd be happy with getting the cost of some filler from them and doing it myself. Companies need to be held responsible for damage - they cannot be let off with an "oopsie, my bad".

I had an outstanding experience working…

I had an outstanding experience working with Gary as my estate agent. From the very beginning, he was professional, approachable, and incredibly knowledgeable about the market. He took the time to understand my needs and guided me through every step of the process with clarity and patience. What really stood out was Gary's communication - he kept me informed at all times, promptly answered questions and made what could have been a stressful experience feel smooth and manageable.

Buyers beware, don’t trust this estate agent on face value …

Buyers be aware information listed could be misleading, don’t fall a victim like me. Do not believe when they told you a house is freehold. Unfortunately in my situation, my solicitor found out they have misled us and that came with a cost to us. Their staff confirmed by email that it was a freehold but when we were half way in purchasing the property and our solicitor discovered their lies, they quickly claimed that after all it was mentioned that the house is leasehold in their ‘brochure’ and blamed us for trusting what they said and stated that we should have read the brochure 🤦🏾‍♀️ It costs us £500 solicitor fee for the amount of work she did and now I am stuck getting the money we paid for the ID check refunded by this estate agent who falsely provided wrong information, which I found deceitful. And wondered if the seller was in this scam with them from the beginning. I’ve got the evidence by email incase they deny it.

Viewed a rental property

Viewed a rental property. I wanted to proceed but then told they wanted to collect more interest and no communication whatsoever. Absolute shocking service and wouldn't recommend at all. Thankfully I got no further with my application, well I guess I don't know cause they never come back to me. What a joke!!

I found a place I was interested in renting and Hunters Reading were the agents facilitating the viewing. I was happy with the place and made an offer. I found Hunters to be quite pushy when it came to payments and paperwork they wanted, but when I requested to facilitate one item (my mattress) to be stored at the vacant premises which I would be occupying the next day, I was told I could not. This would not have caused a problem for the anyone at the property and I was sure the landlord would have agreed to it, however, despite numerous requests, they did not consult him until a week later when it was too late and although he agreed once he was asked, I had already placed it in storage. It meant that I coudnt move in straight away and I had to then pay for another removal service to move it to the property at a later date. I found this extremely frustrating and unhelpful. It just added further unnecessary removal costs and accommodation costs. Disappointed! I felt that they were only concerned with their own interests and mine was ignored.

lettings fees are very high

For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton!

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton branch! From the very first phone call right up to exchanging contacts They have been beyond brilliant. I absolutely loved the pictures of my house and the write up most definitely did my house justice. My house sold within 4 days and I was over the moon with the price!Nicole was the shining star for me- she kept in daily contact and was the most reassuring and helpful person every single step of the process. She chased up people when they needed it ensuring the sale moved along at pace. Thank you so much Hunters but especially a massive thank you to Nicole- you have been amazingly!

Disappointed is an understatement..

To say we’re disappointed with the level of communication from the Horncastle Branch with Michael and Susan Noonan is an understatement and the level of service is a far cry from Michael's commitment to customer experience.Researching this branch shows multi-occasions that this activity has happened here.If you’re viewing a property with the intent to buy, don’t expect them to tell you if any other parties are interested. They’ll just pull it from under your feet along with any visions or excitement of a future you had in said house.Viewed a property two weeks ago, following the viewing we had a really positive conversation with Susan in the office expressing great interest, no more than a week later sold to another buyer with no communication. It would have been professional and courteous to reach out to the buyer but more so to the seller, as I’m certain they would like to have known of other interest. Susan and Michael took away any opportunity or chance to put in any offers, resulting in many wasted hours.I wouldn’t usually leave a review; but the tone in which Susan delivered the news was blunt, lacked any sort of empathy and very closed, to date I am still waiting for a reply to my email which I can only assume has been ignored. We will steer clear of this company for future sales and purchases, knowing that their priority doesn’t appear to be with either buyer or seller.Happy to receive a call or email to discuss our experience with you.

Expert advice! - Thank you Tom Moorhouse!

Expert advice! The lovely Tom Moorhouse came to value our house on 22/08/2026. He gave sound, candid advice which my husband and I are extremely appreciative of. Although we are not in the position to list our house right now (no fault of Tom's), we'll certainly be back within 12 months.

Awful

Awful. Incredibly disorganised. Would establish inspections and never turn up, would constantly email about overdue rent that wasn't overdue. Would pass the blame constantly. Attempted to raise my rent by a "reasonable" £200 a month six months into my tenancy which can only happen every 12 months and cannot be more than the CPI price index; they failed on both counts. Renting is honestly awful, and these clowns pray upon the anxiety of insecurity to get what they want.I have bought a house now, I wish all renters the luck to buy their own homes one day so we never have to deal with letting agents like these ever again.

Avoid This Agency

Avoid This Agency, Completely Fraudulent and Untrustworthy If I could give zero stars, I would. I rented my property through this agency as a family home, but they have illegally turned it into an unlicensed HMO without my consent. Despite repeated promises from their agent Preeti that an HMO licence would be obtained, it never was. My rent has not been paid for over amThree months, and my calls and messages are now being ignored. The tenants contact me directly because the agents refuse to take responsibility. I was told I would be reimbursed for repair costs, I provided all invoices, but not a single penny has been repaid. The condition of my property now is appalling compared to how it was handed over. I have photos showing the before and after, it’s heartbreaking. After losing my father suddenly last year, this house held many memories, all of which have been completely destroyed by their negligence and deceit. Do not trust this company with your property. They are dishonest, unprofessional, and exploit landlords. I strongly urge others to stay away, they will promise everything and deliver nothing.

Sales progression team lied and not very professional.

We are in the process of buying a bungalow at the moment and the sales progression team told us the vendor had been to sort the electrics and service the boiler..previous tennants had apparently got in debt so electric was cut off..Hunters lied saying this would be sorted. A second viewing 2 weeks later and a wasted 120 mile journey confirmed nothing had been sorted. When we told them we were disappointed with them we were told to leave the property.

I would completely recommend avoiding…

I would completely recommend avoiding this agency, they are slow to respond, have no information ready at hand and this has possibly been the most annoying process of purchasing a property with them. There was a lot of missing information that I was not provided and they basically only know how to respond when they need something. You will call them and they say they'll get back to you and just disappear. Avoid if possible.

I had a great experience when selling my house through Hunters, who were able to find a suitable buyer very quickly. Anish Shukla in particular was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable, and kept me updated throughout the process. He also gave clear and honest advice which was hugely appreciated. I have used other well known estate agents previously (who I was less impressed by) and for me, Hunters come out on top. Thank you!

Refused due to having children, unlawful discrimination

Contacted this agency regarding a view of 3-bedroom house. The advertisement contained no restrictions regarding families with children. During the phone call, the first question asked was whether we have children. Once this was confirmed, we were immediately refused solely on that basis. I asked several times why this restriction was not stated in the advertisement, but I received no explanation or answer. Refusing access to rented accommodation because a family has children constitutes unlawful discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Letting agents are legally required to comply with this legislation, regardless of landlord preference. This experience raises serious concerns about the agency’s compliance with UK equality law. I am sharing this publicly so other families are aware.

Agent Harj was full of fake promises

Agent Harj was full of fake promises. Although he was all smiles and seemed friendly, the minute we left after our viewing he didn’t return texts or calls and shyed away from any contact. After several calls to the agents I finally managed to find out myself that the property had been given to someone else, rather than them calling me to inform me I had to dig this information out of them which was frustrating. Avoid!

Bad communication

I have been trying to contact them for 4 months in regards to my flat and contract but they are absolutely appalling at responses and making things clear and helpful for those they are letting to. They have sent me in so many different directions on who to contact and have stopped responding to me within one week of me first contacting them. On top of this it took them weeks to respond and report to maintenance issues, and when they did the response I got was rude and abrupt. As well as that they issues weren't resolved fully resulting in me feeling uneasy in what was meant to be my own space. Absolutely awful service and wouldn't even consider letting/renting from them again.

Valuation and extension options - excellent service

We contacted Hunters to explore our property options, particularly around extending our home, and to better understand both current and future values. From the outset, the service we received was exceptional. Adam visited our property with genuine interest and took the time to understand how we currently use the space and how we hope to use it in the future. His thoughtful suggestions opened our eyes to possibilities we hadn’t considered, creative yet cost‑effective ideas that could give us the extra space we’ve been craving. What impressed us most was Adam’s honesty and depth of knowledge. He provided clear insight into the current market value as well as the property’s potential, even highlighting grants we might be eligible for. His advice helped us think far beyond our initial plan and gave us confidence in the decisions ahead. Hunters have proven themselves to be true experts in their field, professional, approachable, and genuinely invested in their clients. Adam, in particular, deserves recognition for helping us picture the full potential of our home and for giving us so much to consider. We would not hesitate to recommend Hunters, and if we ever decide to sell, they will be our first choice of agent.
