Sean and team at the Ramsey branch have been amazing with helping me sell my house and helping me and my partner with the purchase of our new home. Nothing was too much trouble and they really helped us get through the process with as little stress as possible. Sean especially helped guide us through what can be a very stressful time. A real credit to the team. I would highly recommend them to friends and family should they need an estate agents.

Worse experience I have ever had
Worse experience I have ever had. Get everything in writing from them and even if you do, they will never fix any issues and lie to you and ignore emails for weeks! The most unprofessional agency I have ever dealt with. DO NOT DEAL with this agency!

Distasteful service turned around by Fay Wilson
My 5-star rating belongs to employee - FAY WILSON only. My family had to leave a property manager by SQ early (before the end of our contract) as we suddenly had to move to another city. Graciously, our direct letting agent - Rebecca Clarke was able to sort this out with our landlord on the terms we continue to pay the rents and bills until a new tenant moves in and also pay a one-off fee of £730 to scout for a new tenant. This was fair enough as we were the ones who had breached the initial contract and we had no complaints. We paid rents and bills for 1.5months after we had vacated the property and the search for a new tenant was ongoing. Luckily, a new tenant moved in 8days before the expiration of the rent we had paid and we asked SQ to kindly refund us 8days of rent. For four months, countless phone calls and several emails, I continued to speak with Rebecca Clarke about this. Rebecca responded to just a few of my emails, would promise to get back with an update but hardly ever did. I became really frustrated. So one day, I rang the office line again (1 week after my newest follow up email to Rebecca was not responded to) expecting to speak with Rebecca and get the usual empty promises, Fay Wilson answered the phone and said Rebecca wasn't in the office but asked how she could help. Reluctantly, I narrated my four months ordeal. Fay took ownership of the issue, apologized, asked for time to investigate and promised to ring back. Then she rang back. I mean she actually rang back multiple times.I thought this was a taboo at SQ. Even when I was unreachable, she updated me via emails. Long story short, we got refunded the owed sum 2 working days after my first contact with her. Thank you Fay. If only every staff at SQ was half as kind and customer centric as you are, they wouldn't be any negative reviews. I believe Fay is working in a dysfunctional system at SQ because I was appalled by the fact that all my several emails (though addressed to Rebecca Clarke) were sent to a team/ group email address. Someone else, a supervisor ought to have seen at least 1 email and asked Rebecca what was going on here. Fay, you are the Star of my review and the only reason I could still consider recommending SQ to anyone or look forward to working with them in the future. I wish you Fay, all the best in your future endeavors. TAIWO

Well done Matt and crew!
The market Deeping crew especially Matt made us feel like we mattered. They listened to us unlike others who dictated, meaning we felt supported but in control. Obviously at the start you have lots of contact then a period of calm but towards the last push Matt was instrumental in making sure everyone was working hard to achieve the completion date. When I handed the keys in they gave me a box of random things like alcohol free beer and hair conditioner. It’s a nice gesture and I’m now looking like Michael Myers’s in the free face mask 🙈

Excellent Service
Right from the start of the process we have enjoyed a great deal of support from our engagement with the service offered by Chloe. She was very kind, a brilliant example of an ideal customer relationship. She guided us through what was supposed to be a difficult process with ease and confidence. Her expertise and knowledge were invaluable, it was a real pleasure dealing with Chloe Satchell.

We bought our property through Sharman Quinney and they turned out to be professional and helpful. Our move started out as a simple limited chain transaction but become unwittingly a more challenging chain of transactions and they, together with our selling agent, came up with an imaginative solution to get the whole chain completed.

Constantly call you!
We viewed a property with this company and first of all they were late for the viewing - ok these things happen but no call or no apology. We advised them it was not the property for us but told them it wasn’t price it just wasn’t the one for us, however they have constantly called my partner telling him it’s been reduced and he had repeatedly told them it ISN'T the price. Now they constantly call my partner asking him if we have sold our house yet and even though he has told them multiple times we are not interested in selling with them they keep calling, so much to the extent he has had to block there number because we feel like it’s borderline harassment!

Estate agent good, avoid broker/solicitor
Very happy with the service received from Sharman Quinney estate agent, Linda McMullan at the Oundle office was amazing throughout the house buying process, easy to reach, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Katie Staggs was also a pleasure to deal with and pushed for completion at every stage!! Highly recommend. However per the other reviews there was a big push for me to use their in house broker, not a very nice tactic. Even though I had an AIP from NatWest I still had to have a quote from their mortgage broker in their words ‘for my offer to be seen as genuine’.Also Sharman Quinney solicitor were not the best, creating an unnecessary 2 month delay due to not actioning a simple charge removal in good time.

Poor communicators
Instructed SQ Thrapston to sell 2 properties. Was pushed towards their favoured conveyancers, the first I rejected due to terrible online reviews. At viewings their performance was decidedly average; not interested in attending viewings after 5pm. Had one offer which was based on a viewing I did. Once we had accepted an offer the selling office lost interest and passed over to the sales progressor who was generally ineffective. No attention to detail whatsoever and poor/inaccurate communication. Ended up dealing with the agent for our purchase because emailing/calling SQ generally a waste of time. On completion not even a phone call or email thanking us for our business. A lot of our problems in the chain were not their fault but they made a tortuous chain worse by their poor communication skills. Would never use again.

Jason Taylor is a very experienced and knowledgeable estate agent with excellent local awareness of property prices, sales and leads. As a single female who hadn't moved house for 10 years, he was reassuring and straightforward with all the technicalities involved. I would highly recommend him and all the staff there, they were brilliant.
Thank you so much for leaving us your review Jane and for your kind words. We are thrilled to hear how straightforward Jason made the whole process for you and really appreciate your recommendation :)

Buying with Sharman Quinney
Couldn't fault Sharman Quinney up to offer acceptance. Mortgage advice from Sophia was helpful and transparent, and negotiations were smooth with Tom too. However, there was a noticeable drop in customer service once the offer had been accepted. Often couldn't get hold of the estate agents on the phone, and had to actively ask them about what was needed next. The agent in charge of post-offer viewing was also 20mins late, just due to forgetting the viewing, which just helped to show the deprioritisation after offer acceptance.Overall was a good experience, and at the end of the day no mistakes were made and the property purchase went through, but there were things they could have done to make the post-offer journey a lot smoother and more fulfilling.

Outstanding customer service from the whole team at Ramsey. Explained everything throughout the process clearly, and made us feel that all of our questions no matter how minor, were important to be answered. They were in constant communication throughout the whole process. Would only buy/sell through this branch.
Thank you for your review and recommendation, we really appreciate your kind words and were more than happy to help!

Very impressed with the services provided by Sharman Quinney. They handled everything from valuation to sale and conveyancing. Jason was bang on with the sale price and Carrigan was an absolute star with the viewings. Highly reccomended and will be using again in the future.

Dealing with the Great shelford branch…
Dealing with the Great shelford branch for selling . Up to last week they had such a large turnover of staff and a lot of our paperwork and photos have gone missing of ours . Not happy at all with them . They apparently now have a whole new team so Im hoping that things will improve we wait and see . Since a young lady named Alice joined them 3months ago things seem to improve . She paid a visit to our home on the market again due to the present economic current climate of mortgage rates increasing and she had done more in one week than any of the others in the past . So well done Alice you deserve a quick promotion for trying to make things better and restore my faith in the company .
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience with our Great Shelford branch. We truly appreciate your candid comments, as they help us identify areas for improvement and celebrate our team members who excel in their roles. We deeply regret the issues you faced with staff turnover and the loss of paperwork and photos. Terrible experience, avoid
Terrible experience. Be warned and avoid. This was my first experience selling a property and Sharman Quinney, and Adam Tanswell in particular, were a nightmare to deal with. It started out with a few small warning signs as Adam came to our home and he seemed a bit pushy, but we went ahead with advertising our property with them, if only we’d gone with our instincts and not assumed all agents are like this. After an initial 2 weeks with 4 viewings (none of which came to anything), things cooled off very quickly. We went several weeks with few viewings or communication and had to push them for updates. After 6 weeks we were getting really disheartened and asked if we could give 30 days’ notice and give someone else a go (Adam made it clear when we met, we could give 30 days’ notice to end the contract). Their response was to send excerpts from the contract highlighting that 30 days could only be given after week 25!! And if we advertised with anyone else their fees would go up considerably and they would try to block any sale independent of them or seek their inflated fees on top.It was a really intimidating and stressful time, they should have tried to address our concerns and offered advice and reassurance rather than point to the contract points in their favour. We got advice to take it to an ombudsman who would be very concerned by such a long length of contract and poor terms, but despite this we waited out the 25 weeks to be free. We received more no shows than viewings (few of either) and towards the end of the contract they tried to pressure is into selling to a property developed for well under the asking price. To make matters worse, once the contract ended, they sent us a bill for £150 for their advertising and requested we pay it within 3 days. Ironically, we couldn’t get any reply from Adam or Mike Sharman when we wanted advice towards the and of the contract, and they were slow to respond to requests to remove our ads after the contract ended, but quick to send us this bill and request immediate payment (twice in two days). There are plenty of much better agents out there, and we’ve had a much better experience now we’re with someone else. Avoid Sharman Quinney and Adam Tanswell.

Avoid if at all possible.
Lived in multiple different rented places over ~10 years (i move around a lot with work) and SQ are by far the worst letting agent i have ever used.Staff are uncommunicative, slow and incompetent. The online reporting system for faults is excellent - but never used by the staff. Not a single fault we ever reported was ever fixed - apart from the massive water leak we had which we fixed ourselves and then billed them for. There is no emergency out of hours contact number so tenants are left to fend for themselves in such situations. In the year we rented with SQ - they never ONCE answered the phone, and only occasionally responded to emails. On several occasions, we tried to visit the letting agent branch directly to complain- only to find the door locked (despite being during normal opening hours) and no one around. We even had to wait outside and have someone unlock the door to hand our keys back.It is by no means evident what, exactly, these people do for their money. You'd be much better off taking your chances with another agent, or renting directly from the landlord. Heed my warning - avoid SQ if at all possible.

Don't rent through this company
A vile company for sure but not the only letting agents in the UK to indulge in dodgy practices to make a bit of extra wonga. The below email was sent to Rob Gray at SQ and speaks for itself. No reply yet, since his previous denial of any responsibility.Mr Gray, the previous tenant had OVO energy as her supplier. When she moved out, Kevin Henry (Part of SQ) immediately asked Spark to take over the supply. It takes 3-5 weeks for any supplier to complete the takeover process. When we moved in, we immediately requested a switch to Scottish Power, so now there were two takeovers happening at the same time, since Spark hadn’t actually finished taking the supply from OVO. We had absolutely no knowledge of this practice by Kevin Henry and many other letting agents, including Countrywide, Sequence Connells and Sharman Quinney all over the UK. It is a completely unnecessary and money making practice and we are not the first tenants to go through this nightmare, although ours was considerably more complicated than most we have read about on Facebook. My partner has rented 3 properties previously, two of them through one of your partner companies and one of them not. Needless to say the two rented through you had Spark installed as the energy supplier, so your claim that you don’t indulge in that tactic is quite frankly, bulls**t. The switch to Scottish Power went ahead on 13th and 19th December for gas and electricity and because the fools at Kevin Henry had already requested a switch to Spark, Spark promptly took the supply back a week later. Add to this the fact that the electricity meter was faulty and the fact that Spark or OVO had allocated another meter to our property (that belonging to 5 Eastacre), we now had a bill for two electricity meters. It was as a result of all this and Sparks intransigent attitude in refusing to investigate the matter in an efficient fashion that resulted in us being billed for hundreds of pounds we didn’t owe. We sent proof to them but they persisted until we took them to the Ombudsman. They lost on every point, including their inefficiency and we were awarded compensation. The problem is still ongoing, as we are still receiving letters from them but it looks as if the solution appears to be on the horizon. While all the above was going on, we started getting demands (In January) from OVO for £462, run up by the previous tenant, Mary Challis, who did not inform them of her move. We started binning the bills and letters, as we knew Spark were our supplier, although it should have been Scottish Power. Eventually, we got threats of bailiffs and the bill went up to £492. This problem is also still ongoing, although the collections agency, Oriel Collections, (pre-cursor to bailiffs) returned all our correspondence to OVO and said they did not want to be involved. That action speaks volumes. We haven’t heard from OVO since, although I am certain we will. All of the above happened because Kevin Henry asked Spark to take over the supply. What right did they have to do that, since the landlord did not give them any specific instructions to do that? In the private property sector, when a house is sold, the new owners switch to their preferred supplier, without any involvement from letting agents. There is absolutely no reason that this should not apply in the lettings sector. There has to be a reason for this completely unnecessary practice, so I stand by what I said previously, that there is a cash benefit to letting agents from the suppliers, otherwise, why do letting agents all over the UK indulge in the disgusting practice? This has caused me more stress than you can imagine at a time when I am suffering with prostate cancer and have a partner who works for the NHS at Royal Papworth and who is now off work due to stress. I am quite frankly disgusted that you seem to accept absolutely no responsibility for any of this and do not even offer an apology for the mess you created for us. When I next speak to Kevin or Henry, two lovely guys I have known since they started their company, I will tell them all about this and I am sure they will be horrified. You should drop their name immediately, as it reflects badly on their reputation I have now made it a mission to highlight this practice by letting agents by giving my story to every media outlet I can think of until one of them takes up the story. I have also been in contact with my MP, Kemi Badenoch, who has said she will raise the matter in Parliament. I will copy her in on this email, along with the landlord.
