An excellent service from start to finish Took all the worrying and stress away. Kept up to date about sale of my property from Kenny and Katie Brydon was fantastic with the buying of my new property. She explained every step of the process. Would highly recommend Blackwood & Smith to friends.

We came to Blackwood & Smith having found no luck with our quest in house buying, and we were very happy we moved to their services. We were assigned to Katie who was extremely hard working and diligent, guiding us through the process, not only of buying the property and completing the missives, but also helping us navigate the system of closing dates and offers. We got an offer accepted on our ideal property, and we found Blackwood and Smith to have been excellent and thorough in regards to completing missives.

I have been with Blackwood and Smith W.C. at least since the 1980s and would never use any other lawyer. I have always been treated so well, promptly, kindly and diligently. Karen Valentine was new to me when, on my husband's recent death, she took on a very complicated job and dealt with all my mistakes, my woes, and I felt she was indeed a very professional friend. Such times require humanity as well as professionalism. Everything was dealt with promptly, correctly and with understanding. I was kept up to date with what was happening. I have always felt comfortable with taking any problem to this firm, particularly now. Cadien Reid

Karen Valentine at Blackwood and Smith dealt with my late aunt's estate and I was extremely impressed with the service she provided. There were a large number of beneficiaries including 2 living abroad and a considerable number of companies to contact as part of the process. All the communications which I received were timely and very detailed and clear. When it became apparent that the winding up of the estate was taking longer than expected Karen arranged to make interim payments to all of the beneficiaries which was greatly appreciated. Karen's persistence in dealing with some of the larger well known Scottish companies and constantly checking that they had the correct details before accepting any repayments or invoices is to be admired. I would highly recommend the service provided by Karen Valentine.

We used Blackwood and Smith for the Estate management of an elderly relative and found the support and advice given to be excellent. Struan was calm and efficient in his conveyancing work and we had total confidence in him. Michael added further to the team and kept us informed at all stages which was particularly helpful as we do not live nearby. Karen was outstanding in her Estate management work, often organising matters before we had even thought to ask!

Our family have worked with Blackwood & Smith (and in particular SLA Karen Valentine) over many years, and would have no hesitation in recommending them. Karen has been enormously helpful in her management of complex Estates. She is absolutely meticulous in her approach, gives excellent advice, communicates promptly and effectively, and does all of this while displaying high levels of empathy and understanding. The front of house staff are unfailingly warm and welcoming. In addition, their fee structure has always seemed very reasonable and provides great value for money.

Our lawyer Karen helped my parents during their lives and after their deaths, finalising their estates clearly and efficiently. Karen was so efficient and pleasant to work with that we also asked her assistance with a problem we had with another estate. She was very patient and kind while dealing with the issue and helped us to finalise that estate within months despite difficulties. I would always recommend Karen at Blackwood & Smith.

We have used Blackwood & Smith for a number of conveyancing and property matters recently, dealing primarily with Struan. Everything was dealt with in a smooth, calm and knowledgeable fashion. Matters of importance were highlighted to us during the transactions, and everything else was taken care of. We felt we were in very safe hands. I am very pleased with the service we received and I wouldn't hesitate to use B&S again in the future.

We used Blackwood and Smith for the purchase of our new home this year and Struan was fantastic every step of the way. We felt a bit out of our depth being first time buyers but he explained everything as we went and kept us right. Our move in day went nice and smoothly as Struan kept us up to date on everything going on. We would definitely recommend!

Used Blackwood & Smith to help with the purchase of my new build property. Being a first time buyer we didn't know much of the process involved in purchasing a property but Struan was a great help in answering any queries or passing on relevant information to us. I would highly recommend anyone looking to buy a property to use Blackwood & Smith.

Many thanks to Karen and the Blackwood & Smith team for assisting us with our late mother's invalid Will. At what was already a devastating time for us they were efficient, readily available to answer all manner of questions, and kept us updated throughout. This is a kind and considerate team we would use again should the need arise.

Absolutely superb service. They were very accommodating to my millions of questions, not having any experience myself. They went above any beyond, even helping me with unrelated matters at the same time. Especially Karen, whom without her, I would have been very very stressed. Thank you all.

My mother and I are exceptionally grateful for the kindness, support, efficiency and professionalism shown to us from Fiona Fleming and her assistant Frances Knott throughout the handling of my late Father’s estate. They made the whole process seamless during a very difficult time and we thank them for their empathy and sensitivity. We are very happy with the service from this firm and will certainly be using the services of Blackwood & Smith LLP again and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Sally, and the Team, first supported me, in 2020, when I was in need of help with Family Law. Sally's steadfast guidance was exactly what I needed during this challenging time and kept me focused until complete. I can't thank her enough. In 2022, when I needed help to purchase a new home, it was an obvious choice to go back to Blackwood & Smith. Again, Sally, with the backup of the Team, especially Rosalyn, guided me through the process keeping me fully informed at all stages. No question to complex or simple to answer quickly and completely. I would thoroughly recommend Blackwood & Smith for their professional and compassionate approach to your needs.

B&S successfully completed the purchase of my new home in Peebles and the sale of my previous home in Kirkliston, covering both on the estate agency and conveyancing fronts. The combination of great work, strong communication and a genuinely friendly approach left me feeling very pleased and with no hesitation to recommend to others. Thanks in particular to Kenny, Jagoda and Struan. Best wishes, Nick

We used Blackwood and Smith to execute my mother-in-law's estate, and were glad we did. The state was handled by Karen Valentine and Frances Knott, who were far more pleasant to work with than what we had expected from legal professionals. The estate was executed without issue, which is more than we can say for the expensive Edinburgh lawyers who had executed my father-in-law's will. They also took alternative routes that meant the confirmation happened 4 weeks quicker. We will be using Blackwood and Smith for future legal work.
