Although Allen & Harris are not the managing agents for the property that we rent out in Didcot, Stuart Stedman the A&H Assistant Lettings Manager in Didcot was kind enough to provide me with details concerning the new EICR Law and to point me in the direction of two electrical contractors who I could approach to perform the necessary work. From the initial contact with reference to a viewing to the process of application and referencing, Allen and Harris provide an excellent and professional service. Our initial contact was with Ben Shaw whom provided a personable and very thorough first stage with the viewing. Ben ensured that the property we were interested in was a perfect match for us and the landlord. Every step was thorough and we were guided all the way. Once application approved, we then worked with Jack Woodhouse who oversees the referencing and paperwork stages. Again, Jack provided a personable and step by step guide to the process. At all times we were able to contact both Ben and Jack with any questions. This was reassuring and has made the process stress free! We recently viewed a property with Gemma, she was extremely helpful, we would not have been able to purchase the property without her advice. We also had lots of help from Frances, having spoken with multiple mortgage advisors Frances is by far the best. She has been there to answer any questions we've had and supported us through the process. Frances made sure we got the best possible mortgage offer and we obtained the best rates over other online mortgage advisors we had tried. Gemma and Frances have made buying our first home possible and we can't thank them enough. Tristan at the Didcot office helped us find somewhere to live the first day back at work in January. He called me on the off chance I could view a property that day, accommodated me and my daughter at a time I could make and made the whole viewing/offer process so simple. He took my details there and then, and we had everything signed and sorted within the week. Just exchanged contracts on our property. Allen & Harris had dealt with the initial renting so it was a natural progression to use them when we decided to sell. They were marvellous. This sale has been the longest, toughest one we've ever had. If it hadn't been for Jessica and her team keeping us sane I think we would have ended up in straight-jackets in a secure wing of some hospital. Either that or awaiting trial for murder. She has even gone so far as to help with some general queries we've come up against when trying to buy our next property. Highly recommended.

Painful experience renting a house using Allen and Harris. Fees were well overpriced for the service we received (>£200 per person for a 2 bed place). When being shown around we were told we could remove unwanted furniture only to be told something different by the landlord. On moving out of the property the estate agent took 8 weeks to return our deposit and didn't communicate at all well with us throughout this period, leaving long gaps of weeks without responding to emails. Eventually received full deposit back after far too long. The estate agents were friendly and helpful when attempting to get us into the flat, but this level of service was not reciprocated at the end of the tenancy when we felt we were treated very poorly. If you are renting a property through Allen and Harris ensure you have the process to receive your deposit back in writing and haggle down their extortionate and unjustified tenancy fees.
