Don't even bother to get back to you

I contacted Hunters (Darwen) about a property to rent in Great Harwood. From looking at the pictures online, I knew that I would like to move in there but obviously I wanted to view it so that I could be sure. I didn't even get as far as viewing it though. I emailed them about it and promptly received a response, asking me to fill in an application form and send it back so that a viewing could be arranged. I hadn't heard anything back for a while so I had to call them to chase it up. A few days later I was asked for guarantor details, which I provided, and ever since I have heard nothing. The last email I sent them, was two weeks ago. Now I understand that maybe I didn't meet the criteria for the property, however it would have been nice for them to contact me about this. If I did meet the criteria, I obviously still have not been contacted and this is VERY disappointing. They could have rented out this property by now, if they actually responded to people. There is a strong lack of communication within this company and it is very unprofessional. The property is still being advertised, so obviously no one has rented it out. Its a shame that Hunters didn't take the time to get back to me and as I said before, I am very disappointed by this. Unfortunately, I will not be using Hunters in the future. My message to Hunters...Please take the time to respond to your customers and don't just ignore them. Keep them updated on applications and don't just leave them clueless. A little effort goes a long way. If you made the effort to respond to customers, you could be renting out properties way faster.

Sutton Coldfield - Lack of Professionalism, Very Pretentious & Discriminatory

If 0 stars could be an option then I would have put 0. 4 weeks ago I contacted Hunters, having spoken to Kimberley to want to view a house. She told me she is “so busy replying to morning emails and will get back to me”. (To me this meant I will hear back by the end of the day... to which we never and we contacted Hunters again, to be told they are “so busy”). Kimberley phoned back the following day, took our details, and told us that we “can not afford” the house we wanted to view and “why would we view a house at offers over X amount, when X amount was all we could afford” - which was rather pretentious, condescending and patronising. It seems that Hunters only deal with you, if you are willing to pay the asking price. Anyway, there was another house we wanted to view - Kimberley said that she will organise the viewing give her 24 hours, 4 weeks later, this viewing still hasn’t happened. Over the elapsed 4 weeks, we gave hunters another chance and wanted to view another house, to which we still haven’t heard back about. Having spoken to family and our financial advisor, we wanted to view the original house we initially enquired about because our circumstances have changed. I spoke to Kimberley again, who said “oh I remember talking to you, why do you want to view that house when it is out of your budget” to which I explained my financial situation has changed, and again, she asked why. Which I find rather patronising when I have my DIP for proof yet she is very unprofessional and invasive. Kimberley said “oh great, I’ll get back to you by the end of the day for the viewing”.... nothing. So I left it a few days, still nothing, and I phoned hunters wanting to make a formal complaint. This started to feel personal, and rather discriminatory. Is it my age? My race? My finances? Me and my partner started to feel as if we are being looked down on, so I phoned to make a formal complaint and wanting to speak to Faye. Kimberley explained Faye doesn’t work Sundays, and wants to know why I want to make a complaint - to which I replied - that’s something I want to discuss with the branch manager. She then followed with saying - you have done viewings with us before haven’t you, and I said well this is why I want to complain as I have made 3+ attempts to get a viewing and over 4 weeks, there was absolutely no effort and lack of professionalism - after giving them many chances. Kimberley began to say “oh no that wasn’t me. That absolutely was not me, it was my colleague who has said all this, I would not do that, I am the type of person who will work past 5:30pm to get you into a viewing and take you in my own time” - yet over 4 weeks, she was unable to organise one. She was then readily wanting to make a viewing for us - but we had gone to another estate agents and actually bought a house - who’s service was much better and professional. Kimberley said Faye will call me back on Monday 27th July (I spoke to Kimberley on the 26th), and today writing this review on 31st July, Faye, the Branch Manager, has still yet to follow up which sums Hunters in Sutton Coldfield up as a whole. Lack of customer interest, lack of communication and lack of professionalism. In a job where communication and customer interests are key to either selling or buying a house, I am surprised any body would want to list or buy a house from this branch. This again, feels very personal and discriminatory, regarding either my race or age. Otherwise - what else is the reason? Which no one could answer. In 2020, this is very surreal and saddening. I hope hunters genuinely read this review and sort out their branch, and educate themselves on both communication and professionalism. I do not want this to happen to anyone else - and I hope this gives prospective customers an insight into potential treatment they may receive - and go to another estate agent.

North Somerset’s Best.

I’d just like to thank all the staff at Hunters in North Somerset, Yatton, Portishead and Nailsea offices. They have sold 2 Of our private houses for us in the past 3 Years, and one of our rental properties before that. All Were sold in a matter of days. Of the 2 recent sales the 1st one went through smoothly in 2 months. The second was not quite so good through no fault of Hunters I might add.2nd property sold the 1st day on the market but turned out the lady was telling porkies about her funding so she disappeared after 2 weeks🤬Another Confirmed buyer Within the same week and except for the obvious Covid delays, mainly being unable to sort removals, this time everything went as planned. Many thanks to Richard, Mandy and James for their excellent Professional service and I would strongly recommend Hunters to anyone thinking of selling in the North Somerset area. They know the market in this area so well and really go the extra mile for their clients.

My experience with Hunters has been excellent: very professional, helpful, personable, and kind. From the very first viewing of the property that I ended up renting, it was clear that Hunters stood in class apart from other estate agents I had been in contact with - they were efficient, attentive, willing to be flexible, and gave me a sense of trustworthiness that characterised all my later interactions with them. The property itself was beautiful, and I didn't encounter any problems. Corina and David were always quick to reply to any of our queries and extremely professional. I would thoroughly recommend this agency to anyone looking to rent in Oxford.

RIP OFF,RIP OFF,PLS AVOID HUNTERS ESTATE LETTING AGENT PUDSEY LS28 7LD

This is UK government website under the Tenant Fees Act-CollectionTenant Fees Act and I quote;"a refundable holding deposit (to reserve a property) capped at no more than 1 week’s rent"My Complaint below;HUNTERS ESTATE LETTING AGENT PUDSEY LS28 REFUSED TO REFUND MY 1 WEEK RENT(£132.69)HOLDING FEE, THE AGENT CLAIMED THAT SUBJECT TO CONTRACT WAS SIGNED AN HOLDING FEE IS NON REFUNADABLE AFTER REFUSING TO OFFER DUE TO MY CREDIT, A HOLDING FEE IS PART OF A MONTH RENT IF I BECOME A TENANT RIGHT,AGENT HAVE TURN IT TO REFERENCING FEE/ADMINSTRATION FEE,PLEASE AVOID THIS AGENT,EVEN DURING THIS CONVID-19 RIPPING INNOCENT PEOPLE OFF.FAO - BRANCH MANAGER - HUNTERS PUDSEY LETTING LS28 7LDHello,I had feedback that my reference did not go through after 1 week payment of £132.69(holding fee/deposit against the first rent) see attached, I want to refunded as this payment is not an administration fee or a referencing fee that is non-refundable and I was only told it will be part of the first rent and it will not be refunded if I voluntarily withdraw my application and therefore the agency must return the holding fee with immediate effect, since I am not going to be giving the flat due to the negative feedback but the next person please do refund my payment otherwise I will take this matter to the Leeds City Council,UK Letting agent body, other UK regulatory bodies. Its unfair and rip off by Hunters Pudsey Letting to think that it can use a credit reference to determine a rent affordability rather than landlord or employer checks which was sent to your company, this is a way to get money from individuals and against the UK government regulations for Estate agents.Hunters Pudsey should be ashamed of itself as an estate agent organisation in the UK and it should do the right thing to maintain its already damaged image. Finally this payment of £132.69 was not for credit reference check but as a 1 week rent prior to tenant moving therefore there is no justification for Hunter Pudsey Letting not to refund my payment.Hunters Pudsey Letting is ripping people off by using the credit reference only rather the credit reference, the current landlord and employer checks to which this was requested but was never used at the time of the application process and tells me something is not right here,in my own case I submitted or allowed for the 3 checks to be carried.I also realised that an application was already submitted prior to mine I believed same situation happened. Finally in my years of renting I have never been denied with only credit reference and never had issue not only because I was a victim of identity fraud in the past.If my money is not refunded there will be a formal complaint raised and this matter will taking to the court.Regards

Hunters Wetherby - Katy Huscroft and team

Katy has been excellent - she's kept us up to date, chased solicitors for us, been reassuring, honest, fair and personable. We've felt like we've been a safe pair of hands throughout and have really appreciated her input and guidance. If any of our friends are looking to sell, Katy will come highly recommended and I'm sure our vendors would second that. The wider team were also excellent, contact with Beth and Charlotte at the beginning of the sale was also great and Justin has infectious enthusiasm. A great, well grounded, passionate and caring team all around!

Amazing service for landlords.

I am a landlord with several properties in Sutton Coldfield. This was the first time that we had used Hunters, and what a pleasant surprise it was. The speed and efficiency with which they found a new tenant amazed us, and their charges were considerable less than other agents. Sharon was outstanding, made every step easy and was a pleasure to deal with. If you are a landlord then I highly recommend this team.

Hunters, Carlisle Branch. We feel the agent did not convey our offer correctly to the vendor, telling them we had met their price without including the proviso that we had made that our increased offer was to include contents and furnishings to the value of £5,000. Therefore the vendors thought we had met their price while we thought we had negotiated some furnishings for the property. This we feel was dishonest and caused embarrasment and problems when finalising the sale through the solicitors.

So unprofessional

So unprofessional. Middlesbrough- Teesside Lettings branch cancelled my viewings on the same day just an hour before the appointment with a lame reason of not confirming it via an email when the appointments are usually confirmed by phones. Also no necessary information about the property was given a week ago while I booked the appointments but today after them sending me appointment cancellation emails. I had cancelled my plans for today as I had 2 appointments with them. Staff has no manners to talk to a client, the way of sending emails is so casual and informal. They offered me appointment for the next day when I specifically requested for an appointment for today itself a week ago. I just told them I don’t want to go ahead with such unprofessional company. Management needs some training so do the staff in dealing with the clients.

Really poor service from Allison…

Really poor service from Allison (Sutton branch) where she failed to assist with referencing as she failed to understand how self-employment is orchestrated via accountants. She did not acknowledge my income despite having 2 years rent in my savings account as proof of funds and a impeccable credit rating, not to mention 25yr working history.

Hunters Harrogate

Hunters HarrogateLooking at the reviews here, it seems that people either love or loathe Hunters, so I assume their service varies by branch. However, I can't recommend Hunters in Harrogate highly enough - particularly our agent Sam Newby. Our property sold the day we instructed Hunters without it even going onto Rightmove! Of course, not everyone can expect their house to sell so quickly, but what made the difference to us was that Sam Newby had a client who was looking for similar properties. Sam told her our house had just come on the market and encouraged her to view it. She fell in love with the house and made an offer almost immediately! Good, old-fashioned agency, as Sam called it. Sam's work didn't finish there. He was available to contact at any time - even evenings. At times he was the only person we could get to speak to when the inevitable issues arose, and he always sorted out the problems. As we were approaching exchange, Sam was on holiday, but he still said we could phone him if there were any issues, which we needed to, and he responded with his usual good humour and helpful attitude. Thanks to Sam, our worries were alleviated and our sale went through smoothly in the end. If you are selling in the Harrogate area, the I wholeheartedly recommend Hunters.

Dishonest, incompetent and terrible attitude

Should you choose this letting agents here are a few things you can expect as routine:1) Lying about the status of properties on the market and deliberately misleading all parties on the status of such properties.2) Arranging appointments to view properties that they don't even turn up to meet you at.3) Cocky, arrogant and sarcastic customer service. They really do not care AT ALL!Literally the worst letting agent you could ever choose to instruct. As you can see from the other reviews, dishonesty, incompetence and terrible staff attitudes are a feature. There is a reason for that. Be warned.

Don’t sell with hunters

If you are selling your property please avoid hunters, they charge an extortionate fee for buyers to provide ID when purchasing a property and use a 3rd party company to complete these checks, sadly that company are really poor and their app doesn’t work meaning the whole process of confirming who you are is near impossible despite having to do so to sell your own property.

If there was a minus it would be -5...

If there was a minus it would be -5.... throughout our tenancy of 6 years over paying by £250 per month as the property was supposed to be ‘managed’ haha 😆 we have now moved out and lo and behold are going to have to instruct solicitors to recover our deposit. They claimed we have made ‘modifications ‘ and want to recover the cost to remove (a herb garden - which we left, a shoe store in a cupboard that is useless it won’t even store a vaccum)... they left us without working toilets for 3 months at a time on 2 separate occasions and are sloooooowwww to react to any of our requests for maintenance. Where is our protection as tenants... ? We professionally cleaned the house ‘top to bottom’ and still they find fault when the property was FILTHY on our arrival (we have photographic evidence) !! We moved from Camberley to Harrogate and they made our removals men wait (in our opinion on purpose) so that we were pressured to sign all these pages of documentation on the morning we were moving in... sound good? They are liars and cheats... we played fair they DON’T... be prepared to fight on ... we will.. see you in court it’s gonna cost you..........

Hunters Manchester Property Management

Hunters Manchester Office managed an up-market property for me in the city centre. It was far from a good experience. At best i felt the service provided was 'best efforts' rather than coordinated and professional. If they could make an error (sometimes repeatedly) they would, which meant I ended up continually monitoring things and lost money as a result. Contacting Hunters was at times very hit and miss, and repeated attempts to speak to their regional manager when unresolved issues arose was met with silence. In my opinion there are better options out there for managing your property. I'd never go back to Hunters Manchester .

Hunters Belmont Circle

Called Hunters Belmont Circle to arrange a valuation of my home. They asked me the reason for wanting to sell and when I told them it was because we're divorcing the representative immediately turned frosty and said they charge for valuations if your selling due to divorce. Imagine you're presented with a very devastating and traumatic life event, and then the pariahs come a hunting to see if they too can make a profit out of someone else's misery. Shameful.

Why all the complications?

Tried to book a viewing online of a property in South Shields. I received multiple text messages and emails asking me to complete a further questionnaire before they could proceed. This questionnaire then appears to have prompted another questionnaire (with multiple further texts and emails), which looked like it was going to try and book me in for a property valuation of my current home. I decided instead to call and try and book a viewing. The gentleman who answered seemed thoroughly disinterested and told me viewings could only be booked for weekdays, and only during the hours of 9am to 5pm. I explained that I work during those hours (as most people do, I would suspect) and he said, 'Ok then, bye' and terminated the call. Not sure exactly how anyone is supposed to view a property with Hunters.

Awful

Absolutely horrific company to avoid at all cost. There is a high probability even if they don’t sell your property you will be issued an invoice charging YOU for their incompetence. In lighter days after a pandemic when society and businesses seem to be benefitting from a personal touch these corporate dinosaurs with morals of Jimmy Saville are fortunately a dying breed whom I hope are surpassed by their farer competitors.
