GoogleWe have had a fantastic experience with Tennants Estate Agency in Eastbourne. We have rented a flat for over 9 years with them and the service has been outstanding. The team always have been professional, prompt and efficient in their responses, dealt with any issues without any delay or hesitation. A huge thank you to Alex, who has been really supportive and helpful over the years, as well as Miles and Al.

GoogleAbsolute time wasters! I was looking to let my property through Tennants and handed over my keys to Miles who said he would organise some upgrades to the property before advertising for a tenant to move in. I explained to him that my last tenant had not paid his rent for 5 months and I was desperate for the upgrades to take place asap. I also explained that I only had a budget of around £1,000 for the upgrades, which should have been ample. In spite of this, Miles ignored my instructions and sent me a number of quotes which would have added up to over £4,000 in total. When I re-emphasised that this was way over my budget as I'm unable to work due to disability, Miles said that he was no longer willing to take on the property. He wasted over 3 weeks sending these quotes back and forth, and therefore this was another 3 weeks of lost rent. I approached another letting agent who has managed to get all of the work done for £1,500. I suspect that Miles was looking to take a large chunk of commission from the work which seems completely immoral to me, given my lack of income due to disability.
Dear Caroline I am concerned and surprised to read your review. Please be assured that Tennants do not charge commission from contractors. Having inspected the property I suggested significant improvements would be needed to meet legal safety requirements and bring it to a lettable condition. To the best of my knowledge you did not mention a budget of around £1000 at that time. Once you had made me aware of the financial limitation I arranged for the contractor to amend the quote to do less. However, after careful consideration Tennants felt that the reduced works specification would not meet our minimum requirements so respectfully declined your instruction. GoogleWe have rented through Tennants for about 5 yrs at a plurality of properties until we bought our own, and have always been pleased with their promptness, professionality and politeness. They graciously helped us when we were looking to move from one of their properties on two occasions. They do not sell properties, so retain a level of attentiveness to the renting process that many agencies (who concentrate on selling) don’t have. This, combined with their acute knowledge of Eastbourne make them definitely recommendable. If we rent our property out, we know where to go. Thank you Alex, Myles, Peter and Co. from our whole family.

The team were professional, friendly, respectful and very responsive. I genuinely can't recommend them highly enough. Don't bother with any other agents, go with Tennants! GoogleHad an excellent experience letting a lovely flat for myself and my partner with Tennants. Alex was excellent at finding us the right flat and Miles was helpful throughout the whole process from the initial tour around the property to signing the contract and everything in between with excellent communication skills. We had a very in-depth check in to show us all of the features of the property and I have absolutely no doubt that if we have any issues Tennants will be hot on the case. We are in love with our new flat and are glad to have a reliable and responsive letting agent looking after us. GoogleAt the start of our tenancy in Eastbourne, we raised a few issues that needed addressing, and although some were dealt with, the main issue of mould and mildew in the property was not. Due to the absence of extractors, mould began to build up in different areas of the flat and soon became unmanageable. Unlike other reviewers, Tennant's didn’t do much about our situation, despite repeated emails, but eventually asked us to paint over the affected areas and provided a dehumidifier, which didn’t have much effect. There was also an inference that it was somehow our fault that the mould had built up, despite religiously leaving a window open and doors closed whenever we cooked or showered. We were also told that the flat had never suffered from mould before, however signs of this were evident from photos we had taken at handover and a neighbouring resident had also had the same issues. Regardless of all our efforts, the flat soon became uninhabitable and we felt we had no choice but to move out after nearly 8 months. Despite all of this, our agent seemed to show a lack of respect to us both, making condescending remarks at my upset and worries about the mould damage to our own property. The agent often misspelt our names or used the wrong name in his communications, which were also haphazard. His misunderstanding of an email regarding the fitting of a timer was placed squarely on us, even to the point where he tried to withhold the amount from our deposit, however as we had made no such request this was eventually dropped. Overall, our experience of Tennant’s was not of the professional company that they like to portray; we found them sadly lacking in their objective to being “dedicated to providing the highest standards of service to our landlords and tenants” I would therefore not recommend using this company.NegativeQuality, Professionalism

GoogleI have used Tennant Lettings for 15 years and have found them to be consistently efficient and attentive to detail. They genuinely care about their Landlord relationships and the Tenants they place, ensuring a good ''fit' for both. For flats they also consider the demographic of other residents in the block, which promotes fewer disputes, longer occupancies and better cash flow for Landlords; contented tenants and their neighbours. This is a family run business, not a corporate entity, so they select and retain the right staff, ensuring that the agency's quality of advice and service has depth. Keep up the good work, Peter, Alex and team!

Tennants are quick to respond to issues relating to the landlord, but doesn't respond to our emails about actually legitimate concerns. This estate agents favour old people with no friends. So, if you’re young, want privacy or will expect to have visitors, I would suggest using a different company. Terrible all-round.

GoogleI was with tennants for 2 and a half years and it has been the best experience I've had with a letting agency so far. They promptly sent someone anytime I had a problem and they were always nice and professional. Their customer service is outstanding and when the boiler broke down, obviously on Friday evening, Samuel came first thing on Saturday morning to make sure I knew how to use the emergency supply!! I also need to thank Alex, because she was always very professional and caring; very pleasant to talk to. I definitely recommend this agency to anyone and I will use it again myself, should I need a flat in Eastbourne in the future.

GoogleWe have rented property through Tennants twice now and would never use another agent. The customer service and care has been exceptional and they looked after us with the care and respect you could only dream of. The whole process was stress free and seamless and if there was a maintenance issue, it was dealt with promptly. Even if they don't have a property that you want to rent, go in and see them or give them a call because they will have properties that are just about to be advertised and you will be glad you did. GoogleWe have been with Tennants for just over 4 years at an Eastbourne address. we have recently relocated from Eastbourne and Tennants have been great with facilitating our move out of their property. Throughout the 4 years they would ensure that most of the repairs needed at the property were dealt with as urgently as possible.
