Hi, thanks for your feedback. We appreciate that missing out on a property is very frustrating, doubly so as the circumstances of this particular sale were very unusual. There was a buyer in place for the property and at an advanced stage of purchase. However, their purchase fell through before you viewed the property or made any offer. We have provided written evidence which proves this. The original buyer returned to us after your subsequent offer had been accepted, stating that he was ready to exchange immediately. We consulted with the vendor, who made the difficult decision to proceed with original buyer. It is worth noting that we informed you immediately once this happened and while your offer had been accepted, the purchase process was in its early stages rather than close to completion. It is also worth pointing out that we can only earn one fee and therefore had nothing extra to gain with either buyer. While this may be of little comfort, we wish you all the best with your search and in the future. UPDATE: We are proud to be members of The Property Ombudsman and are very pleased to have been notified that they found in Phillips George's favour in this case. The Ombudsman stated that Phillips George had acted appropriately and correctly throughout and that there were "no shortcomings in the service provided by Phillips George". We are delighted that our processes and standards have been independently scrutinised and found to be beyond reproach. We would also recommend that anyone thinking of selling their home deals with a member agent of the Property Ombudsman to ensure a similarly high standard of service.
