Absolutely diabolical!

Absolutely diabolical. I paid £650 for a valuation and they down-valued it by £30,000! I have a house opposite that is exactly the same and 18 months ago I had that valued. I suggested this house was the same as it is identical in every way and Connell’s valued it at 30k less. Shambles of a company. They’ve now not only cost me £650, I cannot get the further advance that I needed.Less than 1 star!

Valuer was inexperienced and…

Valuer was inexperienced and incompetent. He had no idea of the market and used comparisons which were not relevant. I would not use this company for a valuation.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE JOKERS!!

When you are first looking for a place to rent Connells are over the top helpful, but as soon as you are in don't expect much! They didn't help when I had issues with their other tenants, and when I left because of that I was left out of pocket with them taking money out of my deposit because of rent liability when I was previously advised it wasn't the case! Oh and expect them to take over a month to do your checkout report so they can blame things like marks outside the front door and cobwebs on you when you haven't even been near the property since you left and handed the keys in!They are a joke, I could go on and will to their complaints department but needless to say DO NOT RENT FROM CONNELLS!! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!

Living up to a poor reputation.

I'm an unchained buyer who refused to pay £700 to use their in-house mortgage advisor (when I already had my own and a DIP from a reputable lender) before getting an offer accepted. As a result, being up against another buyer who had made an offer for the same amount, they supposedly had the advantage over me, or so I was told.Understandable perhaps, but what irked me was then not bothering to tell me that my offer was rejected, despite hanging me on for the best part of a month due to some complications with the vendor and my regular requests for updates. My advice would be to AVOID. There are better agencies out there.

Unwilling to give your deposit back.

Awful service for tenants. First, they try their best, along with a landlord, to deduct as much money form it as possible. Then delay paying it back altogether. They might be good for landlords though. I tried to reach them and asked for my money back a couple of time, but Laura Marshall and Gemma Gerrard are absolutely useless.

House valuation

Gentleman came round to value our property so we can release funds for an extension. Had it valued at 430’000 also zoopla valued between 399’00 to 440’000. He went away abs filled the report and valued at 385’000 which must be a figure he popped out of his head. He has caused us lots of issues and we are now appealing the process. Never touch them with a barge pole.

Wish I could give 0 star

Wish I could give 0 starMy experience has not been the best since the start of our purchase. 1st off we went in search for properties and the person showing was unwilling and didn't know anything about the properties. We say a property we liked and made an offer which was accepted, then the nightmare started. 6 months in to the purchase and still not completed with loads of back and fourth asking always for the same information and stupid requests of things that make no sense.Paid fees and never got any sort of statement or vat receipt on proof of payment from anyone, requested but they just kept quiet, was setup for home insurance, life insurance, and other stuff without speaking with us or getting our consent to setup these options, not knowing what we were gonna get out of it or how much we would had to pay, really????I'm very disappointed, why doesn't the government or consumer offices intervene in businesses such as these with poor user reviews and bad customer service... I am pulling out of this sale and not working with Connells again, nor I recommend Connells to anyone, stay well away

AVOID!!!

AVOID!!!We purchased our first home together last year through Connells and never would I want to deal with them again. We also made the terrible mistake of using their solicitor! We were about to pull out of our sale due to various things coming back on the survey and the reluctance of the vendor to reduce the price to accommodate the work that was required as a condition of our mortgage. Connells told us the vendors had agreed a slight reduction in the price and to pay half of the cost towards the work. This was incorrect, the vendor had never even suggested they would pay towards these costs. Connells had lied. I had informed the solicitor of the price reduction, which was amended and the agreement to pay half towards the required works. This however, was never followed through and we didn’t find out until after the sale had gone through. We were first time buyers and put far too much trust in Connells to guide us through. We lost £2000 which we had saved for furniture, this then had to go on damp work as it was a condition of our mortgage. Connells never even apologised and made it out like I had imagined it! Absolutely disgusting customer service! If you have to deal with Connells then please be careful and DO NOT use their solicitor! Find your own, get EVERYTHING in writing and do not move forward with anything until this has happened! I do not want anybody else to go through what we have gone through!

Recent Sale in Round Green

I have recently sold a property through Connells, the service really was second to none. They gave a realistic and achievable valuation and then worked incredibly hard to get as many viewers as possible through the door. They were also instrumental in bringing the sale to a speedy completion by chasing all solicitors and agencies involved. Chris Blackham in particular deserves a special mention. I would not go to any other estate agent, a very professional, hardworking and committed team.

Connels estate agents are a disgrace

Worst estate agent i have had the misfortune of purchasing a property with, my advice to buyers and vendors steer clear. From the very start they mislead me, i was assured from the start that completion of sale would be in 6 to 8 weeks if i used their conveyancing service along with the vendor. (cash buyer no searchers required) it is now going into the 15th week with no sign of an end to this fiasco. The branch manager is rude to say least does not reply to requests for information and has a no care attitude to customers welfare, the senior salesmen is the image of the manager. In the last few days i have asked 4 times for updates from the branch and conveyancing team .... still waiting for them to get off their backside and do anything to help me . THEY ARE A JOKEPlease note the minimum star you can give is one when you place a review

Connells Valuations

As a broker I have had to deal with Connells on several BTL cases, the surveyors on these cases only put minimal effort in and seem to be hell bent on down valuing properties despite brokers such as me providing clear contradictory evidence. If you have a valuation instructed do you levels best to ensure it is not Connells, particularly if you are in West London & Brighton areas.

Not impressed by the quality of sales…

Not impressed by the quality of sales negotiators at the agency. I went to see a house currently advertised for sale by Connells. The sales negotiator was late for the viewing. It turned out that this was a group viewing - we were not notified in advance about that. Once he arrived, he struggled to get the key to work (the owner was not in the property at the time). He left us to wander around the house and wasn't able to answer basic questions about the property. I don't see the value this agency adds to the selling process.

Awful estate agents

Awful estate agents, we were first time buyers and had a mortgage in principle from Halifax and was really excited to get the ball rolling on a house that was on their books. My wife and I saw the house, loved it put and offer in and it was accepted. We were told then we had to sit with a Connell sales representive to go through our details. We then endured an over an hour grilling from a trainee mortgage representive from Connells (that to be honest she was dressed very inapporiatly), she then interrogated us, and trust me, it felt like an interrogation minus the torture for over an hour, they were constantly trying to get us to sign up to mortage with them. Even though we had mortgage in principle in writing and all the right letters and forms from halifax. They just didnt listen, Connell's were just awful to us, they basically wouldn't let us out of the shop untill we agreed to have Connells draft our wills at £1000+, when we refused they just started to be more rude and hostile, It got to the point where my wife burst into tears in thier office and so we got up and left the shop utterly deflated, we pulled out of the house, which we were gutted about because it was perfect for us. We knew the sellers from a friend of a friend and was later told that Connells told them we pulled out because we didn't have a mortage sorted, this was a BIG fat lie from them because we did, they just didn't like the fact that we pulled out of buying the house because of Connells. The next day we went to a rival estate agents on the same street and bought a house on the market that was up with both them and connells and had a fantastic experience and was treated with actual respect. Even months down the line when we moved into our house, the estate agents we bought from picked up the sold sign the next day. I rang Connells to tell them to pick their for sale sign up 3 weeks later it was still there so I bundled it into my car and took it around to their shop and dumped it in their office. I just wanted to share my experience with them, Connells are the estate agents that give other estate agents a bad name, I would never sell a property through them and i would never buy a house through them, even if it was my dream home. Never. It worries me that other first time buyers could be stung by their lies and malpractice. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Shame trustpilot don't do 0 stars because trust me Connells deserve it.

Worst estate agent I have experienced!

Rented a property through this agent, we were pressured to sign a contract before new laws about renting came into effect. We took the flat based on the verbal agreement that work would be done before we moved in, they them turned around and refused to carry out the work after contracts were signed and we were forced to carry out the work at our own expense. This agency does not care about the renter's they only care about landlords from what we have experienced. Emails are ignored and they show no interest in getting issues solved. I would never rent from this agent again and would advise you avoid at all costs!

The only reason I’m giving a 1 star is…

The only reason I’m giving a 1 star is because I can’t give a “ minus 1”. The experience of trying to get my deposit back from them has been distressful to say the least. One month after the end of my tenancy my money is still not with me. The landlord had advised me on the 9th of Sep saying He’s instructed Connells to release the deposit. I tried to give them Time initially to get back to me when the deposit is processed. They got in touch with me on 13/09 asking for my bank details. Despite asking them while vacating the property if they would need any details from me for processing the deposit and despite getting a “no don’t worry, we have everything.” , they they didn’t have my bank details and could only ask 4 days after being instructed to release the deposit. I shared the details with them on 13/09. Still don’t have my deposit back. Multiple times the agent has promised me she’s chased up the concerned department and I should receive the money within 3-5 days. As far as I understand, legally, I should receive my full deposit within 10 days of end of tenancy with any agreed amount deducted. It’s both frustrating and legally incorrect to hold my money due to no fault of mine. I’ve raised the complaints with their complaints department formally and I’ve received a response after 5 days saying I should receive the money today. Promises promises no execution. Do NOT go for letting with them unless you want to go through this painful experience.

Watford Connells

We sold our flat through Watford Connells.Good side:Although they did not bring in enough viewers, they managed to get a few offers and get the flat sold. The other agent brought in loads of viewers but no reasonable offer. So Connells deserves credit for that. Bad side:Communication - poor- you can not get hold onto them, do not return your call.- not informing that the viewing is cancelled. - Please do not believe what they say, rather read the contract before you sign. They do not explain everything. For example we were just told that we would get photographer fees back once the flat is sold. After sale, they said we did not use their conveyancer, so we would not get it back and that was in the small print. So, DO NOT SIGN contract with out reading small prints.

Steer Clear of this lot for your house valuation…

We were selling our house and a person from Connells came to value the house. If you want a surveyor to ubndervalue your house, use this lot. My estate agent says they are always having problems with thesThey undervalued our house £20K. Even Zoopla valued it £20k more than we were asking. I found the surveyor arrogant. Fortunately our buyer saw past this and went ahead anyway. Steer clear of this lot. They are not professional, just `up' themselves!

Avoid it !

Unprofessional staff! Avoid it !!! I rent a flat and when I had issue they never reply to my emails. They ignore you . Two months before the end of the contract they did not get in touch regarding my questions about the renew, I had to go several times, no one was in the office for letting . I also called them several times , no one was available for letting and they did not call me back . Two days before the end of the contract they asked me 114 pounds to renew it plus the increase rent . This agency is a joke !!!

Excellent support from Holly at Connells…

The service and support from Holly Savage in the Mortgage Services section of Connells has been truly fantastic during the most demanding past few weeks for my wife and I . Not only has she put maximum effort into finding an excellent Mortgage deal with a Building Society but she has helped negotiate the final deal on the property we have purchased. She is a credit to the company and we wish her every success in her future career in the industry.

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. We were told that there are four places available to rent that was in our budget, and the location. But no emails were sent, and we had to call them to send us an email. When we went for the first house viewing, the guy couldn’t get the door open which was very disappointing. In overall he was not really interested in helping us find the suitable place, and even though we were told that he would contact us again about the same house. We got no more updates on it!!Very Neglectful!

I would never recommend Connells.

I would never recommend Connells. To anyone who is considering using them I would say please don't ... Our experience was horrendous due to their lack of care and only added to the stressful business of moving. They seemed only interested in moving our property through their doors regardless of what it is worth. They agreed a good price with us but weeks later they were encouraging us to drastically reduce the price to get our property shifted, and I mean drastically, shaving more than £100,000 off the price. When it didn't sell quickly enough they terminated the contract, and still wanted paying. Be very careful. Read ALL the small print before signing anything.

Not bothered, poor admin, lack of urgency

Connells only get as high as 2 stars as they believed our house could sell for more than other estate agents... otherwise I felt they were very shoddy!Pre-agreement, they couldn’t have tried to help more, but once signed, they were lethargic, and couldn’t be bothered. When we had viewings, they only attended them for us twice - always an excuse! Some of the clients were clearly not in any position to offer as well which makes me question the practices!Even worse, when we had offers, it took them well over a day to even inform us!Once sold STC, they basically disappeared. They knew there was a need for urgency with the property we were to purchase next but they couldn’t give a damn whatsoever. It’s Connells Oadby. A young team, very much all about taking the profit it appears. In potentially changing times in the property market, and with increasing competition, think hard about the difference quality customer care can make.

Dreadful. Go elsewhere for a Home Buyers Report.

Dreadful. Contacted Connells on Monday for Home Buyers Report. Followed up twice by phone. Still no contact by Thursday so rang again. Repeated details a fourth time. They asked for payment immediately (no survey even booked). I rang them back to make payment and was told they couldn't accept payment on this number (they had told me to ring them back !) and they'd get the payments dept to ring me back. They never did. Going elsewhere because if they can't get the small things right you can't be confident they'll get the bigger things right.
