TrustpilotThey rented me a house at 26 Jefferson…
They rented me a house at 26 Jefferson Walk ST16 1WF and I listened to construction noises for 1 year and they forced me to sign an additional contract for 1 year even though I told them before. They tried to rent me this house above market prices. When I left, they had no other choice so they rented it to others at a lower price. They are not honest and try to rip people off. Also, do not trust the zero deposit system, they work together and try to get money from you

Had to call numerous times over two days before someone answered, waited a week for the viewing to be called two two hours before for confirmation I was attending, then one hour before they call again and cancel because someones car broke down. Absolute pants.

TrustpilotExcellent Customer Service
I visited a number of estate agents in Halifax Centre last week and Bridgfords were the best by far. On entry I was welcomed by Courtney who went above and beyond to help me with my enquiry. She took my details and added me to the mailing list for updates and has been actively sending properties that may be of interest to me ever since. Her colleague Alix was also really helpful. You can feel that the culture here is all about the people & customer. The estate agent I went to prior (not mentioning any names but very, very close to Bridgfords) had me sitting around for 10 minutes whilst on a call then reluctantly gave me a print out of a property that already had 25 people booked to view the next day (a pointless exercise, just fob me off why don't you) He didn't even take my details and I felt as though he couldn't wait to go for his lunch. Now that's what bad customer service. But Bridgfords do not deserve bad press. May I urge you to please take no notice of the bad reviews below because the team here are warm, welcoming & lovely and good at what they do so keep you heads high, because you deserve a big well done! :)

TrustpilotGlad I wasn’t the seller
Tried to book a viewing of a property that had been on the market for almost a year. Had to call twice before I got a response. They couldn’t offer anything sooner than a week after my call. No wonder the house hadn’t sold.

After being shown a property for rent I…After being shown a property for rent I informed the agent from Bridgfords in Sale that I’d like to put an offer in. The agency said she’d call later that day to talk me through the checks required ect and how to proceed. No call me no response from texts from the agent. When I called the office I was informed an offer was put in the day after I’d viewed the place and it was now off the market!! How was I not able to put an offer in. Had my time wasted be lied too. Had to take time out of work during a busy period to be ignored. Stay well clear of Bridgfords in sale. I won’t mention the agents name publicly as much as I’d like too

My experience with Bridgfords Letting Agents in Newcastle was nothing short of disappointing. As a landlord, I expect a certain level of service and professionalism, none of which were demonstrated by Bridgfords Newcastle branch. I would strongly advise against using their services and will be seeking alternatives for my property management needs in the future.

TrustpilotBridgfords Halifax were excellent
Sarah Broadbent was our contact person and she was excellent from the start. We viewed the property online but Sarah ensured that we had a good look at the property although it was virtually, she explained/answered many of our queries as this area was new for us. Communication was great and Sarah ensured we had all the information before we moved to the property and she was present to hand us the key at the property. She made us feel welcomed to the area and the property and this will remain with us forever. We are very happy with the property, there was a little problem with the bathroom door, it was fixed within days. No other issues have been reported, but I believe they will take good care of it if any issue arises. I will strongly recommend Bridgfords and thanks to Sarah.

TrustpilotWHY CANT WE AWARD A ZERO STAR?!
Unfortunately, there is no option for "no stars" or they would get it. Bridgfords Letting Agents, Whitworth St, they let me an apartment, allowed me to move in, wires sticking out of the fuse box, broken smoke alarm, no running water, they say its not their job to check the flat had services in situ. They refuse to say they have done anything wrong, and tell me, its legal what they have done. In their advert, they failed to tell me that the apartment is in a block, with specialist fire measures! Then my balcony door broke, I'm on the 13th floor and they left it stuck open for 6 weeks with driven wind and snow at one point! they sent a painter and decorator to try and fix it, who didn't have a clue, and broke it further with his plyers and a screwdriver. Then there was the bathroom, they sent a "plumber" out to fix a broken shower, who announced he had to "demolish" the bathroom to fix it. I had to stop him, and call the Landlord before he did any more damage. A proper Plumber was called and it was a faulty valve, which was replaced in 20 minutes.Just as we thought we had scraped the bottom of the barrel with their "talents" last night, they appear to have let themselves into my apartment (without my consent or knowledge) unmade my bed, moved my personal belongings and disposed of my bed. Now, I have to have the morning off work AGAIN to go and see what's gone on. In my opinion, they are an absolute disgrace and shouldn't be trusted with anyone's property.

Google"Never a fun experience selling a property today - too much form filling, but i must say Victoria soon got things moving and was professional, polite, and kept me informed. When matters got bogged down, as happens today. Shaunnie at Bridgfords was especially helpful, not only with forms, but liaising with the solicitors (who sometimes appear to live in a different time scale) making sure that everything essential, including 'i's dotted and 'T's crossed was in their hands. When proceedings did appear to be grinding on, (think of a 10 minute injury time period when 3 would have sufficed) Bridgfords had a big hand in pushing matters to a satisfactory conclusion." Thanks to all at Bridgfords.

GoogleI can't recommend Bridgfords enough, Victoria and Shaunnie go above and beyond to help you and give you peace of mind when it comes to selling your house. Victoria came to our house to do a valuation, she was the third estate agent we had had round and she was the only one who came with knowledge and information about our house and the other houses on our street that had previously sold, giving us an Insight of what to expect when selling our house. This information was grately appreciated, Victoria had really done her homework and was 100% the most professional estate agent we saw. I wouldn't use anybody else, they are definitely the best in the business. Thanks Bridgfords

TrustpilotIf I could score 0 out of 5 I would
If I could score 0 out of 5 I would. The worst letting agency I have ever encountered, even my landlord at University was more on the ball that these muppets! The customer service stops as soon as you’ve paid the extortionate agency fees and deposit. We moved into our flat in Didsbury and discovered that the Gas Hop was not working, I went through Bridgefords Maintenance Team to get this sorted, it took them Three weeks to get someone out to look at it, it turned out to be a very quick fix. A month later we discovers a leak from the skylight in the Bathroom and another in the Bedroom, this issue also took forever to get sorted, neither Bridgefords nor HML Properties would except liability for the problem and I had to do all the leg work as the people on both sides hadn’t got a clue!! We moved out of the property in September and the leak was still an issue, but I had given up by then as we had a warm and dry summer! During the start of the COVID 19 outbreak our tenancy was due to run out and Bridgfords wanted us to pay £125 to renew the tenancy, even on a rolling month by month they still were asking us to pay the renewal fee. Luckily the government introduced rights for tenants during lock-down so they couldn’t do anything, they never spoke of it again! They also asked us to pay more rent per month- I refused! We finally moved out of the flat in September 2020, and it started again! 10 days after vacating the property, it was left in a very clean state, better than we had received it I asked for our deposit to be returned. I was passed around until I spoke to a very inhospitable man called Mathew Healey who told us in a rude an abrupt manor that there were cleaning issues with the property and asked for £125 to cover the cleaning costs. I asked for inventory, it stated ‘left at good domestic standard’ he said they had signed it off and that a member of the Didsbury branch had high-lighted the cleaning issues. I asked for photos which took him a week to send over after much chasing up. He advised me to pay, I held my guns much to his annoyance and appealed through DPS and was got almost all of our deposit back. More than half of what they were asking for which was nice. Do not rent through Bridgfords they are daylight robbers and a circus of clowns who haven’t got a clue!

TrustpilotBeing a neighbour of Bridgfords of…
Being a neighbour of Bridgfords of Bamber Bridge/Preston. I personally would not recommend using them. The House was rented out to tenants with dangerous dogs and smokers of cannabis . The owner stipulated no dogs and no smoking. I have been forced to vacate my house due to the stench of cannabis in my home . This was hours of cannabis smoking not just a one off occasion . Some days 12 hours of the pungent stench in my home . A home which I worked hard to pay for . Bridgfords ignore this and allow these tenants to remain even though police have confiscated cannabis next door and had evidence of the stench .The tenants have started to harass me on a daily basis with threats of getting me sometime soon. They are in breach of contract and the agents , the misuse of drugs act 1971. it is easy for their property managers to look the other way whilst taking a full management fee. I was going to use Bridgfords to let my property but looking at the deterioration of my neighbours home and their choice of tenants , I will definitely go elsewhere. Is it perhaps only this branch?

TrustpilotAppalling Behaviour/Service
Our experience with an agent at our local Bridgfords has been utterly awful. They have behaved appallingly and their “sales” tactics could be described as bullying. They have used a form of emotional blackmail by using a property (That was Managed by them) we had expressed an interest in as a carrot so that they could sell our house for us. We knew this would be a conflict of interest but they have shown they are so desperate that they would stoop so low to actually try and bend ethics and morality. Would never ever use this company!!

TrustpilotIf only there was 0 rating I could give
If only there was 0 rating I could give. Worst experience with a letting agent ever, they have been withholding my daughters deposit for nearly 4 weeks now claiming work is being completed on the flat after her and her flat mate vacated on the 15th November 2024. When we went to finalise the cleaning on the weekend of the 15th Nov, there were clearly painters in decorating where the leak in the living room was (leaking for most of the tenancy) and a few spots in the bedrooms, I have pictures ofthe whole flat on vacating as proof. However, despite holding her deposit to this date the flat has already been readvertised on the 24th November ready to move into 9 days after she moved out because it is fit for tenancy, as we had left it! ! It is now the 11th Dec and we are still being fobbed off with excuses as to why they are not returning her deposit! Cleaning carpets apparently now!! We left the flat cleaner than when she first moved in and I have already cleaned the carpets. I have sent a complaint to their head office / parent comany, Countryside Residential Ltd and will be following it up by reporting them to their ombudsman! If anyone needs to know who the ombudsman is, it is 'The Property Ombudsman'. I sincerely wish I had read their terrible reviews before she rented the flat. Avoid Bridgefords at all cost!

Bridgfords Chorlton provided fantastic service from start to finish. John and Muneer were always on the end of the phone and email. Response to any queries was always dealt with promptly and efficiently. More importantly was the way they managed things when our dad sadly died during the sale process. They were caring and compassionate and still continued to support us through to a successful sale. We really cannot thank them enough.

TrustpilotAvoid Bridgefords at all costs
I have experiences of renting and buying with various agents in the past but has never across an agent as bad as Bridgfords Durham branch. During my purchase of a property in Durham, they lied again and again to cover a minor thing that the garage lock was broken. When the keys were handled over and they no longer could cover this lie, the agent-in-charge actually quit the job exactly on that day. Meanwhile, the letting team tried to convince me to let them manage the property on my behalf. When I declined the service, they even attempted to withhold any related property documents from me. I tried again and again to contact Bridgfords at the time and spoke to various agents, but never even got a proper response. It was very unpleasant and frankly very upsetting. What an ‘impressive’ operation! I would avoid Bridgefords at all costs.

TrustpilotAVOID AVOID AVOID
Myself and my partner had the displeasure of renting from Bridgfords for a year. Needless to say it was one of the WORST years of my life. We’d never rented before and had no idea what we were doing, they knew that and took advantage. We were shown a shoe cupboard of an apartment, the rent was around £350-£400 a month for one bedroom apartment with the kitchen and living room being one big open space. At first it seemed great. Finally living alone (we later found out we were paying the same rent as the rest of the building who’s apartments were 3x the size of ours and had someone who came to check the place out from Bridgfords even POINT OUR HOW SMALL OUR APARTMENT WAS COMPARED TO OUR NEIGHBORS!!!). No pets allowed was annoying as we had two small cats but we knew the couple who lived across from us (they moved out not long after we did because of similar issues) and they had a cat... along with half the building... so we didn’t worry or care. Everything was fine until the first inspection of the apartment, I’d stayed awake all night before the viewing to clean (as we’d never done that before so I wanted to make sure it was clean) I fell asleep on the couch at around 8/9am to be woken up by a small blond woman in my apartment (the door was locked..) so I was obviously surprised and confused, the woman gave me attitude claiming she knocked and rang the buzzer. The buzzer is so loud you’d hear it during a hurricane, I immediately knew that was a lie and The walls were paper thin so if she knocked I’d have heard as would the entire building, once done she went to other apartments and knocked.. when no one answered she walked away, didn’t let herself in like she did with us... That was bad enough. Then she took MY KEYS with her and when I ran downstairs and across the car park to ask her if she had my keys she said “no” as I saw them sat on her passenger seat.. I had to go out so I was panicking in a rush because those were the only set of keys we had. I started walking back to the building angry to have her call me back and say “I’ve got them” yes. I know. That was bad enough and already gave me anxiety about anyone and everyone letting themselves into my apartment without my permission or me even being there! Then we asked to move into the apartment downstairs as the previous tenant had just moved. We were given the ok. Great right? Would have been if they didn’t tell us we could move in at the end of the month to them ring/email and asked “can we move now” and have them ignore us until mid way through the month and say “end of this month” this went on for 2 months. 2 months of packing and unpacking all of our belongings in a tiny apartment just so we had clothes to wear. Then Joel began harassing me over the phone/emails, demanding we let people come into our apartment to look around (the apartment we wanted was empty for 3 months but they refused to let us move) so I said no as the apartment was a tip and I would be home alone when they came, I suffer from severe depression and anxiety so you can imagine the amount of stress and worry I felt not only when I would see an email from him or his number ringing my phone. At first he took the no as a no and said okay but the amount of times he’d email/ring about viewings increased as they continued to ignore our requests to move into the bigger apartment. Then one day I got a phone call from Joel, I answer and had him yell at me down the phone for 5 minutes (it felt like an eternity) for not letting people view the apartment, ignoring that they refuse to let us move downstairs and THEN they can show whoever the hell they want. I felt like a child being scolded for drawing on the walls.. I’m 22.. so when he hung up I informed my mum and dad (they worked across the road from Bridgfords) so my mum for obvious reasons was not happy, they both almost ran across the road to see him and when they called him out for how he treat me he went bright red and fumbled over his words.. he has the nerve to act big and tough over the phone but if you confront him in person? Coward. Absolute coward. Fast forward to moving into Apartment 1 (when we moved the landlord put the rent up for the entire building to £450 and added an extra £100 on to the deposit.. it’s too convenient to be a coincidence) and almost immediately we were getting complains about covering out windows... we got complaints because nosey people didn’t like that we covered the windows...(some of the people in that building were just as pathetic and childish as Bridgfords) then when we sorted that complaint we got a letter telling us to leave because we have cats and you’re not allowed pets. They sent us an email with a PICTURE OF OUR CATS IN THE PREVIOUS APARTMENTS WINDOW. So they KNEW we had the cats from the start and still let us move in downstairs... that’s extremely snakey behaviour, any excuse for more money. So skip ahead to moving day and our previous apartment had been rented out to a young woman who smoked WEED IN THE APARTMENT WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN WITH HER FRIENDS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. You’re not allowed to smoke in there.. never mind doing ILLEGAL DRUGS. So that told us plenty. Then skip ahead again to today (November) we’ve been away from those soul eaters for a few months and I got an email asking for the deposit because of “unpaid rent” we’d had this back and forth about rent for months now, me sending them bank statements of rent being sent on the right days to them ignoring us and coming back a month or so later to try again, I was sent an email today with an attachment of “evidence” as to why they want over £1000 from us... it’s a word document. SOMEONE HAD OPENED A NEW WORD DOCUMENT AND TYPED UP “date-date: unpaid” etc. This is not evidence. This is not proof. Anyone can write a word document, I’ve sent verified bank statements with the date/time sent, amount sent, who it’s sent to and the reference number. They won’t take that as proof but expect me to take a word document as solid evidence that they are entitled to over £1000 from us... they are truly pathetic. Joel is a bully, Alex is manipulative and they condone harassment and targeting. DO NOT TRUST THEM. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. THEY WILL OVER CHARGE YOU. We now live in a 2 bedroom house for the same rent as a 1 bedroom apartment where you’ll get people complaining that they can’t be nosey. Since we have been here we haven’t been harassed, haven’t had people starring at us through the window, no one has just let themselves into our home. We have never been happier. I 10000% recommend Dawson Estate, when I told Matt how we’d been treated by Bridgfords he was disgusting and confused at there unprofessional behaviour and went out of his way to insure we are fully aware of what’s going on and replies to any questions I have almost immediately. Avoid Bridgfords!!! Get in touch with Dawson Estate!!! They’ll treat you right and respect you not harass and target you!!!The Bridgfords I had the displeasure of dealing with was in Halifax but after looking through over reviews it looks like it’s not just the Halifax branch that needs a reality check and a customer service training course...
