Number One, Brunee McCarthy and Sue Sully made our sale a seamless process. Brunee was our agent and sold our property very quickly. She is a total pro and I felt confident in her opinion and approach. Once sold, Sue acted as sales negotiator which came in massively helpful towards the end. It was a long process (due to my search for a property and solicitors doing their thing) but Sue assisted in getting us over the line. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better estate agent than Steve. From start to finish, he was absolutely brilliant and made what can be such an emotional and stressful process feel so much easier. Steve was always there when we needed him, no question was ever too small, and he kept us updated throughout, which gave us so much reassurance. His advice was invaluable, particularly at times when it’s easy to let your emotions take over when selling your home. Harrison was excellent from start to finish and we genuinely couldn’t fault the service. From the outset, he positioned our house at exactly the right price point and backed that up with excellent marketing material and a clear strategy for getting the property in front of the right buyers. It never felt like a case of simply listing the house and hoping for the best, there was a proper plan behind it. Communication was also first class throughout. When we put our family home on the market James was the first agent to value it. We knew immediately that he was the agent we were going to choose. His professionalism, friendliness and extensive knowledge of the locale was second to none. James and Sara kept us informed every step of the way via a WhatsApp group. It was fantastic. Unfortunately we had a very poor experience with this estate agents. The original agent that met with us and sold himself to us based on his knowledge of the area etc hardly did any of the viewings on our property. We felt that they did not actively try to sell the property when showing people around, and on one occasion had only scheduled around 20minutes for a viewing and as the viewer was late, rushed them around. We had multiple second viewings and no offers. Our house was difficult to sell in fairness however it required a proactive estate agent and managing viewings as we staged the house multiple times for third and fourth viewings by the same prospective buyer, who had told the agents that they were not in a position to put in an offer at that time.. Alot of time wasting that was left unmanaged unfortunately. They did not even put a board outside the property even though it was on a popular footpath until we got other agents involved who put their board up. I feel like the plan for this estate agency at the moment is to get their name out there but if your house requires more sales approach to viewings then this agency may not be the best fit for you, for example if you have an older property with potential that needs to be highlighted. They were very responsive and always gave feedback from viewings. We understand that the agency is busy, but at one point we were asked to show prospective buyers around the property ourselves- this would not have been an issue if it hadn't been for the overall lack of effort we felt was being given to the listing. Towards the end of our time with the agency, it really seemed like they had given up on the listing. We went with another estate agent and got an offer in the space of a few weeks. This was the fairest review I could write, unfortunately this agency was not a good fit for us and left us very disappointed with the effort that was put in. There is only so much an estate agent can do when selling a house especially a house that is more unusual than your typical new build which we completely understand, and ultimately you need the right buyer, however we felt that the house was kind of being left to sell itself. We hope that this review helps sellers trying to make an informed decision based on their property and hopefully some feedback to Number One may help them improve service as there were elements of the service that were good, such as the fact we were always kept informed and had a WhatsApp group chat with agents for the property. UPDATED REPLY TO AGENT'S RESPONSE: Thank you for your response and for taking the time to look into this. As I acknowledged in my original review, we did have multiple viewings and a reasonable level of interest while the property was marketed at the higher price. However, unfortunately, that interest did not translate into any offers. I would also like to clarify the point regarding the property being marketed at the price “as instructed”. The asking price we instructed was based on the valuation and marketing advice provided to us by your agency. In hindsight, it may be that the initial valuation was overly optimistic, but we relied on your professional advice when agreeing to market the property at that figure. Ultimately, my intention in leaving the review was not to discredit your agency, but simply to provide an honest and balanced account of our experience. I believe customer feedback is important, particularly where there are areas in which the service could potentially be improved, and I hope the comments are received in that spirit.

Extremely disappointing experience. I came from London specifically for a viewing in Newport for a property on Nelson Drive, and I genuinely loved the house. I was very excited about it and was seriously considering buying it. The lady who showed me the property was unable to answer any of the questions I had, which I was willing to overlook. I explained to her that it was my first viewing and that my fiancé had made the booking. I also told her that we were very interested in buying the property. She told me that an offer was expected, so I left the viewing feeling extremely excited and hopeful. However, after my fiancé sent an email with our offer and some questions, we received absolutely no response. We called the agent, only to find out that she had apparently mistaken us for another couple who had made an offer. I was honestly shocked. There was no apology, no explanation, and, most importantly, still no response to our email. This is particularly frustrating considering that the property is still on the market. I also have to be honest and say that, at some point, I was left with an uncomfortable feeling that I was being treated differently because of my accent. I sincerely hope this was not the case, but the way I was treated made me feel unwelcome and, unfortunately, raised concerns for me about whether my background or the way I speak had anything to do with how seriously I was being taken as a potential buyer. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of our experience. We booked another viewing for a different property through the same agency, only for it to be cancelled one day before the viewing, without any explanation. I understand that mistakes happen, but this felt incredibly careless and disrespectful of our time. We travelled a long way specifically for these viewings, and the lack of communication and basic follow-up was extremely disappointing. If you are travelling from far away for a viewing, I would strongly recommend thinking twice and confirming everything in advance. In our experience, the communication was extremely poor, and our time was not treated with any consideration.

I will genuinely never recommend another estate agent other than Steven Brown. We met Steven by chance on a house viewing listed with him and within 20 minutes we knew we wanted him to sell our home. After a bad experience with our previous estate agents, Steven was a breath of fresh air. The advice and insight he provided into the sale of our property, and the knowledge he has on how to attract viewers was information nobody had previously told us. With a half hour phone call we had more advice provided than we had received from our house being on the market for weeks with other agents. Once the house was listed with Steven no query or question was too much and he was always available to to help us. He is extremely helpful and friendly, and always reachable if you need him. After just our third viewer with him we accepted an offer on our home, which we had previously lost hope on. The excellent level of service continued throughout the contracts and exchanging proccess, with the majority of the follow ups and query chasing being lead by Steven. At no point in the process were we stressed or concerned when dealing with the solicitors as Steven was there through every step. I wish we had been with steven from the start but am so grateful to have met him and will continue to rave about him to anyone who will listen. I could not recommend him more.

Five stars does not seem a high enough rating to reflect the exceptional and outstanding service we received from Yvonne at Number One Real Estate. From the start, with Jess showing us around what is to be our new home, to Yvonne's help, support, and her patience, especially with our calls and queries, throughout the whole process till exchange/completion, the service we have received has been above and beyond what we could have expected.
