Avoid

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. Based on my experience, I would advise new landlords to be extremely cautious with Foxtons. The agent’s explanations of commission and contract terms were unclear, and I ended up in a lengthy dispute over unexpected fees. Which is escalated to ombudsman and will probaly go to the court. Never trust a word of Foxton's agents. Always insist on written communication and carefully review all documents before signing. I would not recommend Foxtons to others based on my experience.

I had bad experience with Foxtons. I am not writing this with any hatred. I am being a genuine customer and my experience is as straight as my comments. The process and the way I was handled during the handover of th flat wasn't good. They promised 2 keys within the first week. Its been 12 days now. No sign of it. My husband and I work in different hours. And I was clear about it. When asked, they simply diverting me to contact landlord. I agree that I should contact landlord. But the house was not handed down properly in the first place. I would contact landlord if I had any problems in the future. Not when I take keys from Foxtons. They were eager to have all the payments automated first. Mattress was burnt. No rod for the shower head, headboard was broken. Etc. They said they had the house cleaned by professionals. Please refer to the images which I click the very first day. This review is not to make Foxtons look bad. Some employees didn't take accountability for working under such a great banner. The only intention is that this shouldn't happen to any new customers.

As the owner of a flat

As the owner of a flat, I struggled for months to find tenants. I tried renting it myself but mostly scammers or people who waste my time only, then worked with several agencies - including one that promised a quick result but instead damaged my flat and pressured me constantly with calls and messages, day and night. By the time I found Foxtons' letter in my letterbox, I was ready to give up.

Waquas Awan made the whole process of buying my first home incredibly smooth. I initially wasn't sure what my exact requirements were at first and kept changing my mind, but he was patient, supportive, and always ready to adapt. He helped me narrow things down and quickly found a flat that ended up being perfect for me. Waquas also made sure everything was sorted in time before the stamp duty change this year, pushing things along when needed and keeping communication clear across all parties. We listed with Foxton's in Stratford to sell our property. There was poor communication throughout our time listed with them. They would often give us only an hour's notice of viewing despite us asking for at least 24 hours notice. They rarely responded to emails. When trying to call them it would often be difficult to get a specific agent on the phone.

Foxtons wrongly extended our tenancy…

Foxtons wrongly extended our tenancy end date then withheld our deposit on non payment of rent grounds. Even after acknowledging their 'error' it took 2 months for them to correct it. The money was only returned after a letter before action for a small claims court was sent. Other customers are advised to exercise extreme caution with how deposits are safeguarded.

I was spoken to quite rudely on the phone with agents pushing for an earlier viewing or just scheduling a viewing without asking for availabilities. I have told agents multiple times to stop calling me but this was not heard. I even removed my information from the portal and noted that I am no longer looking for a property. I still receive 3-4 calls a day whilst informing them that I do not want to rent through them.

Foxtons Letting Commission…

Just to share my experience and warn anybody thinking of using Foxtons letting services. Foxtons will be vey happy to take full year commission in advance but if your tenant moves out before the full year period, Foxtons will not refund your commission in cash but just leave the amount as a credit in your account even you no longer have the intention to rent out your property. Area director of Foxtons claimed that this is in line with Foxtons terms of business. Beware before you choose Foxtons letting services.
