FacebookLeft my family move in a poor property with a newborn and 1 year old major issues penetrating damp which made me me and my kids Ill even led to my son having operation and every time I would ring up and they would send someone out he would put the blame on me, knowing full well what the problem was only in it for the money while I lived in hell , only way I could escape was to stop paying the rent and contact environmental health to fix what was going on and even then u still didn’t care only to find out all the hell I was put through they were selling up to get me out then just to repaint and stick someone else in there to suffer the same pain every wall soaking even the floor with damp and mouldy, my kids were always having throat infections everything I bought I had to leave behind and start with nothing , so the next time u want to look the other way think about the life’s you have already destroyed, years this went on for and even had the cheek to take me to court

GoogleI would not call the staff professional at Martin and Co in Merthyr. They are always getting the month, day and even year wrong on the letters they send out regarding inspections. They are responsible for who they hire for maintenance/repairs, and still they don't take any responsibility for them not showing up when they are supposed to - on several occasions. Failure to notify the tenants that the people they were hiring to carry out the work isn't even being employed by Martin and Co anymore.
They forget to turn on the answering machine, they don't return calls that have been left on their answering machine. They claim that they are not responsible for emails not going through to their designated Martin and Co emails - even though the tenants can send the emails fine without getting any notification of failure. Meaning, Martin and Co are basically saying that they aren't responsible if they are having problems at their end.
They are not returning phone calls on most occasions, even though they said they were going to.
The only positive experience we've had with them so far is that they are courteous.

Edit: 2017 - Martin & Co have had issues with an employee stealing deposits and such. Makes you wonder what kind of hiring procedures and checks that they have if they hire people that commit theft.

Dear Anwar,
thank you for your comments. Whilst we are happy for any client to make a post regarding the service they have received we are surprised by yours. Upon inspection your property contained multiple breaches of non compliance within HHSRS and FFHH, including no heating or hot water and multiple leaks and damp. This meant the tenants were potentially at risk of attracting health issues especially at the late stage of pregnancy. The local authority housing enforcement were informed and the tenants were rehoused. We were not prepared to continue working with yourself unless the property was brought back up to a liveable condition and best practice policy was agreed. We informed Rent Smart Wales of our disinstruction and were surprised to see that property was then attempted to be relet with another estate agent.
We would advise any tenants looking to move prior to signing for a property to check the Rent Smart Wales register for full details of the property owner and if it is managed by a reputable qualified Rent Smart Wales approved agent.
