I have dealt with many many Estate Agencies in 3 different countries, and I can honestly say hand on heart that every element of the sale of our home with Donald from James Agent was exceptional. Every other Agency I had brief contact with, made me feel like I was being plopped on an assembly line, and would be left to the whims of the Universe if my house sold or not. When we listed our home with JamesAgent, Donald made us feel like valued clients, showing great empathy and personalised care for our personal wishes and circumstances, to make sure it was a stress free experience, and it was! The flat fee pricing was an amazing factor, other companies charge a percentage which is odd in my opinion. The photography, the drone shots and videos were stunning, outstanding quality and we had input on the photos that were used and the order in which they were displayed. The communication with every person I spoke with at James Agent showed the same very high level of genuinely wanting to assist. Donald was ALWAYS easy to reach by phone or popping into the Kelso office. Bottom line, I got the price I wanted and sold my house in about 10 days. You will not regret listing your home with James Agent!

My business simply wasnt worth their time.

I’ve now bought and sold two properties in the Borders, and unfortunately my experiences with James Agent have consistently been disappointing. On both occasions when I was considering selling, I contacted them as a potential agent. Both times my enquiry was ignored, even after I chased for a response. Perhaps my properties simply weren’t valuable enough for my business to be of interest to them, I genuinely don’t know, but that is certainly the impression their lack of response left me with. I’ve also viewed a number of properties they’ve marketed and have offered on a couple. I have absolutely no issue with being unsuccessful with an offer, that’s simply part of buying property! But the overall experience has repeatedly left me feeling like I'm not a real purchaser rather than a potential buyer who matters. After experiencing the same lack of engagement from both sides of the process, I’ve reached the point where I generally don’t bother trying to view properties marketed by them anymore. It simply doesn’t feel worth the effort. It’s a shame, because buying and selling property is a significant transaction regardless of the value of the property, and a little communication and basic customer service would make a huge difference.

Faultless service at a competitive price

I would also highly recommend James Agent. Not only was the pricing clear and competitive (the one-off fee was a refreshing change from the commissions and complicated add-ons the other agents offered) but right from the start, Donald provided a friendly, informed and professional service. Nothing was too much trouble for Donald whose enthusiasm, approachability and knowledge made the process much easier than it could have been. First class 24 hour service - highly recommended

I cannot recommend Adam more highly. From the initial consultation, where Adam spent a long time looking around the house, making suggestions and giving us an accurate valuation (Adam is a qualified surveyor) to the prompt closing date and sale. Adam is very knowledgeable in this area and was always available to answer questions. One of the huge advantages is that Adam is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so anyone wanting to view can call and make an appointment at short notice: especially useful on a weekend. There is a fabulous feedback system so we could get viewers’ feedback. Adam, who is a really genuine, friendly person, was in regular contact with us and went out of his way to be helpful. His service is also incredible value for money. Look no further than James Agent!

Fantastic service for a "stress free sale!"

We used James Agent as a result of a recommendation from McGill Mortgages, Melrose to sell my parents home. Adam responded very quickly and professionally to our enquiry and arranged to meet with me at the property within a day. As other reviews state Adam is very knowledgeable as a qualified surveyor and looks at the possibilities for any future development of the property with a realistic vision in terms of design and planning. It was also refreshing to receive texts of upcoming viewings and also a call from Adam after every viewing which provided excellent communication. I can honestly say that the service was seamless from start to finish and have already passed on Adams details to several friends. I would recommend paying the extra charge for viewings and let Adam manage a "stress free sale on your behalf"

A really personal service.

We recently sold our house with Adam and, from the off, experienced a really personal, modern service. His experience in the sector really became apparent as we went through the sale. Due to Covid-19 many people are viewing initially online and one of the main reasons we chose Adam was the addition of a full professional 3D walkthrough video of the house to the marketing suite of advertising. This helped the house stand out and generate a lot of interest quickly as viewers didn't have to piece the house together from pictures.The system used for tracking and notifying of viewings and feedback was excellent and Adam was always superb in getting back to us if we had any questions. As a local estate agent Adam really offers a superb service with a wealth of local knowledge but with modern methods and gets back to you when he says he will. We would highly recommend Adam and James Agent to anyone looking to sell their house.
