This is my second time using Hills, specifically the Eccles branch. First time as a first-time buyer was a breeze however, when it came to selling and buying at the same time, we had a few issues. The Hills brand as a whole is fantastic, extremely quick at getting properties photographed and published to a high quality, conducting viewings and having a wide portfolio of properties at all times. Holly Bulka and Amelia Glass were both fantastic in their respective roles in helping us through a long process. I did have some issues however with Chris McCarthy. We were in the process of buying 3 houses with hills over the course of last year and felt he didn’t have our best interests or advocate for us (as buyers) in any way. The first property we had an offer accepted on, we had concerns of the structural integrity of the property as the banks would not offer us a mortgage without relevant documentation. We’d requested surveys to be done as the vendors had no official paperwork, but Chris didn’t in my opinion speak to the vendors enough to convince them to do this and kept batting back to us having to pay for everything. We refused and ultimately pulled out of the sale, which then cause it to go back onto the market a few months later £75,000 less than the original offer price. I don’t feel that Chris had any experience dealing with a property that had been incorrectly valued and being tough enough on difficult vendors. The second property went much better and were told we were the preferred buyers by the vendor. On a Friday afternoon we had a call to say that there was an offer slightly more than ours, but because of the preference for us, if we could match it the house was ours. We accepted the increase and Chris told me property is yours and offer is accepted. On the Saturday I received an email from Hills saying that my offer had increased again - which we had not authorised at all. I called Hills to find out what was happening, and they’d advised that the other party had then increased their offer (and raised our counter offer in mistake) which the buyers accepted, so the house was no longer ours. Nothing had been communicated to us at all, just an unclear email increasing our offer without our authorisation. We then had to chase hills and call on this, worried that we had put in an offer that we couldn’t fulfil. They refused to own accountability and said it was a glitch in the system, until eventually confirmed the house sale was no longer ours and Holly had apologised. Chris never called us about this or acknowledge that it’d happened. We finally found a property we were happy with a few months later and the process went fairly smoothly because the vendors were fantastic on their end, however Chris wasn’t prompt at giving updates or information on what was happening, often having to chase. We went right down to the wire with the exchange of the contracts not happening until 12pm on the day before moving day. Appreciate this is more to do with solicitors, however Chris was no help with chasing or providing updates for a very stressful situation. We then had multiple calls on moving day where they’d got the wrong address and information down for us, thanking us for dropping off our keys (we hadn’t) and pushing that we leave our house, but we hadn’t completed yet so had no keys to collect. This was all just inconsistent, unhelpful and unprofessional on the day. Having knowing the process of collecting keys and handing over with your main point of contact from our first buy, we were awkwardly shuffled off and hurried away when collecting keys. Due to our experience I would recommend hills, because of their low setting up costs and the sheer amount of area and properties they cover - I wouldn’t however recommend having Chris support you in the purchase.

Made an offer on a house, asked me to wait a few days to let the vendor think about it and continue viewings. Mentioned to them, I’d also continue viewings, after a few days decided to accept my offer, however I asked for 1 day to think about it now I had another option. However was only given 1 hour, in the middle of the work day. Felt very pushy and unfair, especially as I patiently waited for days for the vendor to reply. Viewings were good, polite and friendly young man.

Had a really great experience with Hills. As a first time buyer it can be overwhelming but I felt really at ease. The online app they use is really easy to navigate and control your viewings etc. Their pictures of the properties are all so nice and true to real life. We dealt with Elliot mostly and he was fab! Always helpful and considerate, especially when working around my schedule as a teacher so would quickly rearrange viewings and calls for us. He also remembered the styles we liked and approached us about ones that suited us promptly so we felt well taken care of. Thanks guys!

I recently moved into a property managed by Hills Lettings and throughout the entire process Isabella was absolutely brilliant. Moving home is one of the most stressful experiences and Isabella went above and beyond to make it as smooth as possible. Despite facing some challenges outside of her control, Isabella was always responsive, empathetic and professional. She kept me informed at every stage, genuinely listened to my concerns and always did her best to resolve issues quickly. What really stood out was her personal touch she even remembered that Eid fell during our moving period and sent a thoughtful card and gift, which meant a lot to my family. Isabella is a credit to Hills Lettings and exactly the kind of property manager every tenant deserves. I had a very good experience with buying my house through Hills. Rebecca Nicholson was outstanding when dealing with my case. She was responsive and supportive through entire process and beyond the sale - finding me an electrician. Very professional and with a human touch. I had a feeeling like I am supported my some member of family, like she really does care for you and you are not just being a number. This is so important especially when you are buying a house -which can be stressful. She had never left me waiting, answered all my queries straight away, contacted solicitors etc. I can't thank her enough for all her help. I’ve been dealing with Hills as a Landlord since 2019 and always been extremely happy with the service provided, especially from Olivia Lee and Kirsty Jones in the past. Recently I had another property that needed to be let and I dealt with Olivia Johnstone (OJ). She reached out, took the time to get to know me and my requirements for the property, whilst also making thought out suggestions. All of this was done in an approachable and attentive manner with OJ having a real ‘go that extra mile’ attitude. She kept me in the loop with updates at all stages and was extremely proactive in this which is very important to me. Overall, OJ was able to complete the letting journey at a better rental rate than expected and a week ahead of my schedule which were both added bonuses.
