The team at Truepenny’s East Dulwich…

The team at Truepenny’s East Dulwich were absolutely fantastic and made the whole experience smooth and professional. With particular thanks to Kyley who got the job done to sell our flat in no time at all, especially in a difficult market. The whole team who supported the sale were friendly, genuine and comprehensive in their knowledge. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a sale in the area!

I've recently bought my first home through Truepenny's in Charlton. Through the process of viewing properties I've met a good few estate agents and I have to say David at Truepenny's came across as the most honest and straightforward. No estate agent script or nonsense, no opening of cupboard doors and saying "look you've got a cupboard" (I've seriously had that before) and most importantly, no BS. I also thought the staff at Truepenny's went the extra mile, having seen the property online over the weekend I called the office on a Monday morning and they did a viewing the same day. And finally I was flying by a wing and a prayer at times to get everything across the line and I appreciated David's patience in all of that. I can highly recommend Truepenny's and would certainly use them if I was to sell or rent out my home in the future.

I was in a house-share situation where one housemate felt entitled to do whatever they wanted, without considering my needs or space as a fellow tenant.Eg: Her male friend entered my room when he has no right to be there. That is invasion of privacy as I was naked underneath my sheets. Eventually, I reached my breaking point and realised I wasn’t willing to tolerate the situation any longer because it’s my home too, and I deserve to feel comfortable in the space. Georgia at TruePenny advised me to send potential roommates to the other housemate for approval, which was completely wrong. The contract only specifies that I need to replace myself, with no mention of the age or gender of the individual. This led to the other housemate becoming overly confident, knowing that TruePenny was on their side. Of course, they were, since the money was still coming in and they had no regard for my experience as a tenant. I wasn’t getting my money’s worth because I had to live with someone who made the situation unbearable. It was a mistake I’ve learned from the hard way. I feel I was unfairly treated by TruePenny, and I wouldn’t recommend them for house-share issues. They seem more focused on the money than the well-being of tenants when problems like this arise.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear about the challenges you experienced during your house-share. At Truepenny’s, we understand how important it is to feel comfortable in your home, and we sincerely empathise with how difficult shared living situations can sometimes be. We’d like to clarify that our role is to follow the terms set out in the tenancy agreement while assisting tenants in the most practical way possible. As part of your contract, you and your co-tenants are jointly and severally liable, which means decisions regarding tenancy changes can affect all parties involved. Our suggestion to involve the existing housemate in the replacement process was intended to encourage cooperation and ensure a smooth transition, rather than cause any inconvenience. We regret that you feel unsupported and appreciate your feedback, it helps us continue to improve how we handle similar situations in the future. Should you wish to discuss your experience further, we’re more than happy to speak with you directly.

Truly the worst service one could…

Truly the worst service one could experience from an estate agent. John and Mariem were extremely unreasonable, obstinate and down right rude. Refused to request items from the landlord like removing furniture and allowing keys to be returned early at end of tenancy. Our boiler broke on one of the coldest days in winter and we had to quote the unfit for habitation act before they responded to my requests to send someone to fix.

Great process buying a house

We’ve recently bought a house with Trudi and she has made the whole process as easy and pleasant as possible which is a rare thing these days! She was always been on hand to answer any questions and requests we had (and we had a lot as first time buyers!) and she really pulled it out in the last few weeks before exchange when multiple issues came up last minute. Would highly recommend her and the rest of the Truepenny’s team!

Valencia is one of the worst…

Valencia is one of the worst consultants I have run into. She is currently the property manager in our flat; she is unresponsive to our emails about repairs, blames us for bringing these issues to light, and will take no accountability for her own actions (or inactions). Our dishwasher and washing machine were not working which we noticed immediately upon entering the flat. We logged these issues on the platform Truepenny’s requested. These issues were then ignored along with our repeated emails. We had no choice but to contact their contractor directly. We were then reprimanded for doing so. Valencia was on holiday so didn’t respond for weeks and then was unapologetic about the fact that nobody helped us in the mean time and proceeded to be super rude and condescending on the phone (shocker!!!). Would not recommend.

Placed an offer on a property and managing director never had the mere courtesy to inform me of the outcome despite several calls and emails. Whe the property became re-available again, he was again reluctant to communicate with me despite me having 100K as a deposit and an AIP of 600K. Staff are generally unprofessional, lack basic communication and painfully unhelpful. A complete and utter waste of my time. One wonders if race had to do with this.

Dear “B F”, I have thoroughly investigated your complaint, reviewed and cross-checked all of our properties along with all offers that have been submitted. I can confirm that we have not dealt with any buyers with your initials, nor have we dealt with any offers in the way that you have described. Given the lack of any records to support your review and the fact that our Directors do not ever refer to themselves as a ‘Managing Director’, I can only assume that this is a fake review and have reported this to Google accordingly. If there is a genuine complaint to be made, then please do reach out to me via the branch email on our website so that I can personally investigate. Kind regards, Hayden Ellis Branch Manager

We bought a property through Truepennys, as we were the buyers we couldn't pick and choose our estate agent. However we were very pleased with the service. We are first time buyers and it was a stressful purchase there were a few hiccups, however Hayden was great at helping and communicating with us. The sellers solicitors were really bad communicators so he had to do a lot more work than what's expected from an agent. He chased the sellers and gave us information as quickly as he could. If we ever sell we would consider working with Truepennys especially if Hayden still works there.

I have recently sold my property with the help of Hayden, David and the team. The experience was much better than the previous attempt with a couple of other agents. Truepenny were professional, straightforward and delivered what was asked of them. Communication was effective and to the point. I can recommend them with confidence. Thank you!

We recently bought our first property with their support. Hayden and David were helpful in moving the process forward and assisted us in completing the purchase successfully. They also helped speed up the process, as our lease was coming to an end, ensuring we could move in on time and avoid being left without accommodation. Thank you! 😊

It was a great experience working with Truepenny’s

It was a great experience working with Truepennys, especially with Conor. Despite the challenging circumstances surrounding my rental property, he worked tirelessly to find a suitable tenant. What I appreciated most was his ability to balance professionalism with a great sense of humour, which made a real difference during some of the more stressful moments. I truly appreciated his support throughout the process and would happily recommend Truepennys and Conor to others.

We have just sold our flat with the help from the fantastic Hayden. He has been an excellent estate agent to deal with. We chose to go with Truepenny's due to him alone, as he has a real honest and kind nature. His communication has been excellent, and he is always calm and understanding in times of stress. Thanks so much Hayden for all your help. From Kathryn and George.

Alex from Truepennys Dulwich is every cliche of an estate agent, condescending, dismissive, rude, with a superiority about himself, words cannot describe how awful this man is & this is from a phone conversation. If this is how he is on the phone, from an initial phone call, be grateful he didn’t do business with you.

Mr Hayden Ellis, Manager of Truepenny's Charlton, may be the rare exception to the rule: a real estate agent who is truly honest. My partner and I have bought and sold, rented and let numerous properties over the years, and he is the only agent that we have ever dealt with that we have no hesitation in recommending unreservedly. If we could keep him to ourselves, we would! Thank you, Hayden, for all you have done for us. We look forward to doing more business with you in the future.

Best progression in London!

The team at Truepennys worked incredibly hard and were a pleasure to deal with throughout. I did get the impression they hadn't sold many school or loft conversion apartments before, as there was some uncertainty around the service charge. That said, they secured an offer within three weeks of the flat going on the market.

Shambolic…

Called their Beckenham branch on the 12th Nov to enquire about a rental property that had just come on the market and was told by a lady there that a message would be passed on to lettings. Nobody ever got back to me. Chased it up on the 13th and was told by a lady there (same lady?) “we only have one lettings negotiator covering Beckenham and Bromley. Rest assured you will get a chance to view the property”. Again, nobody ever got back to me. Today (19th) I see that the property has now been let! So thanks to their incompetency I’ve now missed out on a potential tenancy. Utter shambles and I’m going to blacklist this agent if this is the level of service afforded to prospective tenants.

Truepenny's have really been awesome in dealing with the sale of my property. Hayden and Hannah have been great in terms of viewings and communications. In just 3 weeks I received two offers and another great one just one week into the new year. I could tell they work hard to help me achieve the best offer. Hayden has been straight forward and understanding even as circumstances change. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. And I would use them again if I had to.

Hannah from Truepenny's Charlton is an absolute gem of an agent, she is very thorough with her work. In my experience, I have rarely met such dedicated people in the real estate departments. Every property we viewed with her, she had full details, no nonsense, very thorough and sincere, she knew most things we needed to know and if not she made an effort to find out and email us later. It was a true pleasure working with her. I would highly recommend Hannah and her company Truepenny's to anyone looking for a property. They are very helpful.

Truepenny’s was the estate agency that sold my sister’s flat on Heathwood Gardens in Charlton. Hayden Ellis was the estate agent who guided me through the whole process. It was a marathon as the first buyer dropped out at the last minute. Hayden found another buyer almost immediately and although there were a few hiccups along the way we managed to close the deal successfully yesterday. Wallace Jaffray is the person who takes over once a buyer has been found and looks after the administrative details of the process, he was also extremely helpful, responsive and reliable. I would strongly recommend Hayden Ellis and Wallace Jaffray at Truepenny’s and its Charlton office.

I recently sold my house in London with the exceptional assistance of Hayden Ellis. Hayden assured us of a quick sale, and he delivered on his promise. Despite residing outside the country, Hayden provided unwavering support throughout the entire process, taking charge and handling all necessary tasks to ensure a successful sale. His professionalism, dedication, and clear communication made the selling experience seamless and stress-free. I highly recommend Hayden to anyone seeking a dependable and proactive real estate agent.

If you are a landlord, you probably won’t have any problems with Truepenny’s. If you are a tenant, you might not have as great of an experience. We lived in a property managed by Truepenny’s for a few years. Overall, they were nice to interact with and helpful. The property managers are friendly and know what they’re doing. It was easy to report maintenance issues and they were responsive. But ultimately whether or not something gets fixed is up to the landlord, and ours was not very responsive until it suited him. My only real complaints are: 1. They got our move in date wrong somehow. I showed up at the property with my newborn and wasn’t able to get in until the cleaners arrived and let me in. The agent responsible was on vacation. 2. Our landlord was considering selling the place and the selling agent who showed up to do a show around was quite rude/dismissive when we were going out of our way to accommodate the showing. 3. Our landlord attempted to take our entire deposit to redecorate, re-landscape, and re-carpet the house. It was absurd and predatory. Thankfully we got most of the deposit back after raising a dispute. But Truepenny’s did absolutely nothing to help resolve the situation. They seemed resigned to allowing it to go to dispute rather than encouraging the landlord to accept a reasonable offer from us. Like any estate agent, they will have the landlord’s best interests at heart.
