We bought our first via Stow Brothers with a lot of help from Josh Bayton - they were always warm, friendly, and informative as they guided us through the process as first time buyers.Note they tend to hold viewings on Saturdays only which means these viewings can be very busy, but as we work full time it meant we had a chance to actually see houses before they went off the market.

GoogleA brilliant estate agent, highly recommend for selling, buying and renting. I've used Stow Brothers for all. The journey of buying and selling is not always straightforward but the teams at Stow Brothers support and manage the process in a professional (not old school though), friendly and approachable way. They have been so helpful and can't thank the team enough. They list great properties and know the areas in detail to help you find the perfect place that suits your needs.

GoogleI did visit one of their listed properties. I was guided by Holly, who was on time for our appointement and answered all the questions I had about the flat. I can definitely recommend SB as they were quite responsive and Holly helped me throughout the whole process of placing a bid. They usually have some of the nicest flats I have seen posted by agencies!

TrustpilotAs a tenant, please stay far away from StowBrothers
Stow Brothers let & manage the property that I have rented for the past year. And I have never experienced such incompetent and lazy service from any establishment.The issues I've had since moving into the property have ranged from pests (cockroaches, mice, ants, moths, woodlice, slugs and more), black mould on the walls and my items, major distrubances from the upstairs neighbours (who are also managed by Stow), outside building works that the landlord waited to have done until I moved in, and inside building works that were required because of shoddy work done to the flat, and so much more. I also couldn't move in for the first month because the property was left in an unlivable state.Every time I write StowBrothers, it takes them days - weeks to respond, and many times I'm not even dignified with a response. It can take up to 6+ months to have urgent issues actioned. For example I first raised the issue of damp in the flat when I moved in a year ago, and I only just had a contractor over to start working on the various issues causing the damp. As a tenant with Stow Brothers, you will need to chase and chase until things get actioned. Emails are ignored. And as long as you're paying your rent on time, they will continue to do the bare minimum.StowBrothers couldn't care less about their tenants.

I agree with all the negative reviews on here. We had a terrible experience with them as first time buyers.We fell in love with a property and had the same over booked viewing system. We then had the best and final offer email, and we were chosen by the vendors and we were so excited. Unfortunately, however, things went downhill when our bank went to value the property and downvalued it by 60k. They actually valued it at less then the ‘offers over’ number stow brothers had listed it for. Now, the vendors were first time vendors and the whole experience seemed very much like stow brothers had talked them up regarding how much they would get and so panicked when this went awry. Stow brothers then proceeded to treat us like were we stupid to get what they wanted. First, they tried to tell us that banks struggle to keep up with the market (they clearly set the market). Then they tried to tell us we would be insane to miss out and basically that we should feel privileged to have even been accepted, saying that the sellers had received much higher offers than ours with much bigger deposits (all of which was null and void seeing as the property wasn’t even worth what they had listed it at). Then they said our bank was probably wrong and so we should get another valuation, but when we checked, the other banks we had lined up were going to be using the same company so it wasn’t worth our while. Our very experienced broker also said that if there has been a recent valuation the company may just reuse it rather than sending someone out to value the property again, because they are experienced and rarely wrong (our broker was generally disgusted with Stow Brothers behaviour from the outset and relieved when we left them, we got involved with him after the offer was accepted and he himself said he thought it was worth less than what stow brothers had it listed for). Then, when we weren’t budging, in a final act of desperation stow brothers asked us if we couldn’t just borrow 60k from our parents or get the extra money together… which was insulting in itself seeing as had our life’s savings on the line and it suggests everyone comes from endless pits of money. But again, why would we even bother if that had been an option, seeing as we would be massively over paying? In the end, we pulled out. We didn’t like how we were being treated and we didn’t want to go with another bank and a worse off rate just to potentially be rejected by the vendors when they didn’t get the made up number.Lo and behold, a year later the property was finally listed as sold for the price our bank had valued it at. So we were right all along. The poor vendors were straggled along by lies and greed for longer than they should have been.We then went on to buy with a less instagrammble estate agents and had a much more pleasant, respectful, stress free experience where the property was valued at exactly what the estate agent thought it was worth. So I felt much more trusting of them.Two of friends then went on to have the exact same experience with stow brothers where their properties were downvalued by the bank by approx 70k also. My learning is that I would never buy with them and I certainly wouldn’t sell with them. Lies and greed make the journey way more stressful than it has to be.

Does not listen to simple requests like NO PHONE CALLS, called me several times and first email i got was asking me to call back, my request was no phone calls due to hearing issues, they ignored my request and tried to gaslight me and say id never requested that, i have the proof that i did. they clearly are too lazy to respect customers with extra needs. AVOID

They have a policy of asking potential tenants for a "best and final" offer. It's incredibly frustrating and brutally biased towards getting the maximum offers for the landlord at all costs. You can either secure a property by bidding well above the market price or risk losing it having wasted your time - no respect for tenant time and money.I secured a property but left as soon as the minimum contract period ended. That's what the above policy results in - tenant churn. Beware landlords, there is a hidden cost getting above-the-market offers with Stow Brothers.They also didn't contact me to return my the deposit, I had to chase them up. Didn't send me a leaving inventory, just radio silence since I left the property.
