We instructed Hotblack Desiato (Stuart Shiers) to sell our Grade 2 Listed Canonbury home. It had already been on the market for over 6 months with a well-known national and international agency. Stuart succeeded in finding a buyer at an acceptable price within 6 weeks of being instructed. At all times he was professional, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. He also dealt with the overly aggressive former agents who were unwilling to take my word that the purchaser was not someone who they had introduced. Hotblacks seemed to us to be a traditional agency whose priority was to sell our property at the best obtainable price, rather than offering potential buyers a host of other services, with all the obvious conflicts of interest that involves. I certainly wish we had instructed Stuart when we first placed our home on the market but in the event everything turned out well. I have no hesitation in recommending Hotblacks to other sellers in the areas covered by them.

When we had bumps in the journey he was really hands-on to try and fix them for us and without him the sale may not have gone through, so we are really grateful!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. These ‘agents’ charged my new tenant three months deposit (£7,064 in total) No TDS system was used so currently taking this company to court. If this has happened to you and they do not safe guard into a TDS, A judge can grant you 1-3 times your deposit. Be careful as these cowboys could lose £21,000 if the judge grants my tenant the maximum amount. David has already left as he allegedly transferred deposits to someone else. They’ve now gone silent and are ignoring messages. Feel free to email my name at gmail for the outcome. Atrocious they need training or to be shut down.

I strongly advise against using this agency. They have turned whole renting experience into a nightmare. Firstly, the property was very poorly maintained and we had 24 maintenance visits in the first half a year, even though agency knew about the issues and didn't care to sort it out when property was unoccupied. Secondly, their internal communication is very poor- a lot of people were dealing with our property and as a result a lot of things got messed up. Thirdly, it just feels like they don't care. When maintenance people would confirm time of the visit, the agency wouldn't bother to let us know, so we would wait for maintenance staff whole day long. Once some people turned for an inspection and we weren't even informed about it. In winter we lived with a massive black mould stripe in our bedroom for a few month before the agency finally addressed it. At the end of our tenancy we found out that the mould spread to our mattress and bed-frame through the night stand, it was a lot of extra hassle on the moving out date to deal with it. At least we got our deposit back, yay!...

I would advise against renting with Hotblack Desiato at all costs. They are corrupt, dishonest, and truly usurious when it comes to having your rental deposit returned to you. I felt they were deliberately exploitative of me as a tenant.
